captaincharisma Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Jumper, shirt and tie usually. As it is really hot at the minute I go with shirt and no tie. Smart trousers and shoes always.
HarryMonkey Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Trousers and shirt (short sleeved) and smart shoes. I have been known to wear a tie but that happens rarely these days. Denim of any sort is banned during term time. During the holidays it's jeans and t-shirt along with trainers.
Grey-gear Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 School time: - Work place provided polo-shirt, black trousers and black shoes Non school time: - Work place provided polo-shirt, jeans and any shoes
zebulunn Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 NM wears office smarts whereas the gentleman technicians wear hardwearing work trousers + shirt. I'm more comfortable in office wear and not bothered doing my dirtier duties in them.
DPrince Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 (edited) IT department branded polo shirts and smart trousers, although this usually translates to black jeans. Holidays, just casual clothes (usually jeans/shorts and a t-shirt). Department shirts say IT Department, whereas mine says IT Manager. We also get similarly branded hoodies, jumpers, light jackets and winter coats, plus hard hat and neon jackets. Edited June 12, 2014 by DPrince
Joanne Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I used to wear workwear trousers. They were good and hard wearing whilst also being smart and comfortable. I'm in a primary school now though, so anything goes. I'm in brown skinny jeans and a nice top at the moment. Some of the staff here wear some awful clothes. I hope when the new head starts that they implement staff dress code. I wouldn't mind looking smarter!
hardtailstar Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 During school time: black shoes, smart shorts or trousers (usually always in shorts unless in meetings), shirt and tie Holidays: any old clothes of mine that I dont mind getting dirty or ruined Managed to get the Heads in all my three schools to agree to me wearing shorts as I argued that females could wear skirts in the summer.
Zoom7000 Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I've worn my Islamic attire all my working life (Think Arab Shiekh, if you wanna paint a picture!) My schools have never had a problem with it and I've never been challenged otherwise. So much so, that when one of my many previous RM managers bought in a formal uniform, he exempted me from the policy. Kudos to him on that one! The only thing I have been challenged on was trainers, but the amount of posh shoes I've had to go through, trainers were the only real option. He did promise us steel toe caps, but he left before the policy was implemented!

Sounds like a great excuse to go out and buy some new suits / dresses, shoes and of course handbags!! Yay!

I'd always worn plain black polo-shirts until recently... now I have them with the ANME logo on - didn't ask, but no one seems to mind... got them done at the same place the school gets their printing & PE branded stuff done - Galaxyprint
themightymrp Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Our school staff dress code forces me into shirt, tie, trousers and shoes
Tall_Paul Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 School branded shirts with 'ICT Support' added, black combat trousers and shoes. When I was promoted to ICT Manager I made of point of saying I should wear the same as my technicians and the Head at the time agreed.
sippo Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I used to wear branded polo's but had to buy them out of my own pocket, so just bought shirts which were better quality anyway.
Pyroman Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Jesus, do you not all melt in the summer? Camo combat shorts and a t-shirt (usually a band or some geeky slogan) here with either trainers or steelies and full length combats in the winter. I was forced to wear a suit in my last job and HATED it, i've never worn one to work since.

superatticman Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Shirt and tie for term time. Anything we like for non term time. Overalls provided for 'dirty' work as and when.

Duckstein Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Shirt, tie etc here...though the last few days I have been chancing it with no tie. No-one important has mentioned it, so it may become a regular occurrence! I'd rather be in polo shirts etc like the good old days, but it's not going to happen unfortunately

HarryMonkey Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 It always amazes me the number of people who find it necessary to wear steel toed boots/shoes. I 've worked in schools for getting on for twenty years now and haven't come across a situation that would require safety boots. I guess I've been lucky with the tie thing as well, I've never got it caught in anything, mainly because I've always tucked it in my shirt if I find myself in a situation where it may be in the way. I reckon it's just an excuse by those who don't want to wear one.
HTCPCP Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 If i'm at one of my primary schools, smart shoes, black trousers and a grey branded polo. If im in the office, it's meant to be a suit and tie, but not warn a tie for 2 years at work - and it lead to the fight when we stopped wearing them in the office, after they kept getting in the way. The SLT finally agreed that it was probably a health and safety risk and let us not wear them. Summer it's whatever we want to wear, as long as it's suitable for the work you are doing (i.e. not high heels if you aren't going to be behind the desk for the whole day etc)

Marshall_IT Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 NM & assistant NM full suit. Techs wear shirt and trousers. Last place Techs wrote school branded polo shirt
Zoom7000 Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 (edited) I would be pretty annoyed if that happened here - it isn't a religious requirement as far as I know, it is your choice so how come you get to keep your choice and others can't keep theirs? I didn't make any requests either way. No, it isn't a religious requirement. It was entirely my managers decision and he made it without consulting me prior to his announcement. No one else seemed to have a problem with it. I dress the way I dress everywhere I go. Whether it be home, work, event, etc. I see it as smart formal wear. I wore it to my job interview and I got the job and I wear it to work everyday. I don't own a suit and tie set and have always had the mindset that if they didn't accept me for the way I dressed, then I was better off without them. If I was asked to adhere to a strict uniform policy then I would do so, as long as my employer supplied me with the uniform. I didn't ask for any special treatment, just because I may come across as "not the norm". Fear. Fear of being called a racist or taken to the cleaners for having such vile opinions. I can't speak for others, but I would have never done anything of the sort. Edited June 13, 2014 by Zoom7000 2
