WithoutMotive Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Is it Half Term everywhere? I'm assuming so. Anyway, what are your plans? In school? Week off? For me, a relatively easy Half Term. I'm not entirely sure why I'm in. I'm calling this week "self-organisation". I need to do a little bit of admin and just get myself ready for the long half term ahead. Hoping to start next week fresh and organised. There's a first time for everything.
pcstru Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 We are replacing all our copiers and the back end print management systems (equitrack and pcounter). Already had a lorry tag an overhead fibre cable and pull it off the supports. Then there's the usual upgrades, updates and shuffling around.
siuko Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Half term here.... And I've got a decant spreadsheet to fill in!! What and where is all the old equipment in the old school - and what and where is it going in the new school in october.... omg its taking aaaaaaaaaaaages lol
6Foot2 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 We have half term here but we [the Network Team] are in all week. Making good on damage and preparing for Summer work [lots to do]
sparkeh Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Today is all about getting our new whizzy 80Mb Internet up and running Then got a couple of days off to help the Mother-in-Law move (she's moving a couple of doors down from us ) Then back in on Friday to do some general maintenance tasks.
elsiegee40 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Half term here for the main school, but the preschool is open and I'm in work.
mdench Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Playing around with MythTV got some guys in from Advanced Connections doing some loom upgrades and projector installations in our science labs whilst I plod round and install some Apple TVs in various rooms.
Iain.Faulkner Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Half term here...not much on really. A few projector bulbs to change, 20 new PC's coming in so they all need reimaging, and then 10 of them have already been allocated for use around the school. So they'll go out and the old PC's then need reimaging and re-distributing. Then a few software installations as well. Other than that we'll work through our general jobs list and try and clear as much as we can. It is only a three day week though with the Edugeek Meet on Thursday :-)
FragglePete Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Half Term here.... 3 x New Projectors with Smart Boards to be installed. 52 x New PCs to be installed (26 done, but need to put the junk away somewhere) Possibly transfer user files to new server (just got to do a few more tests first). Pete
Boredguy Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 For our whole 2 days onsite we will be testing the volume of a new class change system for future installation (tested external version of the system in the Easter break but wasn't loud enough to hear in some room) Replace a UPS battery Clear out the server room ready for major building work to start in July Resolve a few support calls we have open that is easier to do when no-one is around. So all in all a very quiet half term, so it looks like we will be pottering around come day 2.
mdrabble Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Trying to do 5 lots of fibre installs and then finding out there are classes on in the rooms where the fibres need to be terminated ........
WithoutMotive Posted May 27, 2014 Author Posted May 27, 2014 It is only a three day week though with the Edugeek Meet on Thursday :-) Why on earth didn't I clock on that this was during Half Term?! All this time and I could have gone. Too late now. Can't go. This was exceptionally slow of me.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Why on earth didn't I clock on that this was during Half Term?! All this time and I could have gone. Too late now. Can't go. This was exceptionally slow of me. You're only twenty minutes away. Still time to rearrange plans surely?
caffrey Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Fitting access points, so spending most of the HT in the ceilings
WithoutMotive Posted May 27, 2014 Author Posted May 27, 2014 You're only twenty minutes away. Still time to rearrange plans surely? Unfortunately, I arranged a whole bunch of things for Thursday, some of which I can't rearrange. To say I'm particularly gutted is an understatement. Maybe I'll pay attention to dates next time. If I can get off a little earlier, I might pop through to say hi to folk.
Duckstein Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Erm...little jobs here and there this week. Not really enough to keep us in for a long period of time, but we've got to be here. Probably go through an Office Tidy and general check on rooms
hawc Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Supervising the building works and seeing that the builders don't destroy anything while they deploy and set up 4 mobile classrooms, oh and I have to set them up on the network.
plexer Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Out and about visiting customers and unfotunately won't be at edit as time is short. Perhaps next year or edit south by southwest when it's arranged. Ben
witch Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Going in on friday to sort out the server with our external server support guy. The backup has thrown a wobbly, the password change policy is only working for some people and not others, and we have had a few random shut-downs
hardtailstar Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Week off to sort my house out.... I will still be at it next week!
Edu-IT Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Today is all about getting our new whizzy 80Mb Internet up and running Then got a couple of days off to help the Mother-in-Law move (she's moving a couple of doors down from us ) Then back in on Friday to do some general maintenance tasks. Is that with KCOM?
sparkeh Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Is that with KCOM? Good Lord no. We left embc a while back. With RM now (did someone just say 'out of the frying pan...'? :-P ) Unfortunately, after the engineer got everything sorted the connection kept dropping, apparently we have a line fault. On our brand new line. Now we are back into the BT appointment scheduling roulette wheel. Wheeeeee...!
speckytecky Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Did have no plans to go in but yesterday had a teacher who just couldn't make it through HT without a laptop (he'd managed to kill the newish one issued to him) so in I went. As you do when the opportunity arises I did a bit of tidying up and brought a laptop home to stick a replacement HD in as well.
