Hi,

Just got one of these and I cant get it to connect to my internet. Has anyone got it working through Smoothwall? The code comes up but the thing doesn't attach to my internet. Its on a static IP that goes through transparently.

Any luck with this ... I thought I'd try my chromecast in school and have come across the same issue with not being able to access via a proxy server (smoothwall).

Got it to work in school by using a transparent proxy through SW and using a ALLOW ALL rule for it. Am looking at locking this down a bit for safety.

Thats what ive tried, ive got a no authenticating transparent proxy specifically for the IP address of the chromecast. Then i create a port policy for the ip of the chromcast with allow all rule. Still moaning it can't connect to the internet.

Smoothwall helped set up our Chromecast to work through the proxy after logging a ticket with them. I think these were the settings they changed.

The only information I can see is 802.11ac and 5Ghz. Support for proxies or enterprise wireless would be brilliant. I'd love to cast our Chromebooks cheaply.

never used a chromebook but do they not support android cast? if so reflector now supports it.

They work well on Chromebooks, it is Enterprise Wifi and proxy's which appear to be the issue.

Mine work fine here using CISCO wifi kit. Transparent proxy based on IP so no issues with internet access either.

Just want a simple way to multicast to them for digital signage and i'll be happy.

Do the new Chromecasts allow you to enter proxy server settings? We previously tried one to cast from our Chromebooks but there was no way to enter the school's proxy server settings. Any help appreciated.

I saw Promethean's new panel at BETT and it had a built in android feature that mirrored any device I forget the model of the panel though.

I saw those too, kept overheating lol
