So i completed my first official 10k race yesterday Preston 10K after starting the couch to 5k in January 2018 i have been running 10K for a couple of months now but yesterday i set both my personal best for a 5k (22mins) and 10K (47mins). For anyone who completes the C25K i would say keep going you can do a 10K its well worth it thank you for the bridging podcasts recommend in may.

well done. Those are very good times!

Rolled my foot on Saturday jus before a 5k Run :( . Bit of streching and a short run before the start and all was well, done the 5k parkrun even with a little sprint aty the end in 24mins, all still OK. 2 hours later in agony, more time off for recovery :-( :-( :-( .

Ive not been doing this but I have taken up running and using my own methods.#

I have a 4km circuit round my town which I run (some walking too). Once I can run it all without stopping I'll get to 5km. So far my best 4km run is 27 minutes.

Ive only been doing this for three weeks and had last week off too to rest my legs as I had run/walked 4km every day.

started again yesterday and got my best time so the only way is faster!

Ok its run day. Week 5 day 3 and suddenly I'm supposed to run for 20 mins straight!

The last run was 8 mins run, 5 mins walk, 8 mins run and it about killed me so I'm bricking it today.

Anyone else find this a bit of a leap and how did it go?

It is a jump but a manageable one, slow down, plod it. You'll be amazed at how quickly your body can adapt to running and these "leaps" will suddenly become something you chuckle about worrying over.

You'll be fine. Just trust in the program. Don't think about it being 20 minutes just concentrate on running, ignore the time. You'll be surprised how easily you get through it.

Newport Marathon completed on Sunday.2nd time I've done this event. I seem to be getting slower each time I run nowadays. Very enjoyable event though, generally very flat and very well organised. The random guy handing me a beer at mile 19 was very welcome :-)

Destroyed by mile 18 but yet put in fastest mile at mile 23. Not sure how that happened.

Gatwick Half this Sunday and then up to Liverpool Marathon at the end of May. Will be re-focusing on 5k and 10k speed after this.

I did it too, and slower than last year. Unfortunalty i seem to have developed exersise induced asthma which had prevented me doing pretty much anything for the last 7-8 weeks while they diagnosed my issues.

So my legs blew up at mile 14, I must of met the same guy at mile 18.5 as I downed his Pint for him lol.

Agreed well organised event, next year i'll hopefully be more prepared (can't realy walk today lol)

@sparkeh well done mate, I can still remember my first 5k. I can also remember saying "I don't understand why people would chose to run 5k, I can't imagine ever looking forward to running one" a few years later and i'm stupidly addicted to running lol.

I am really struggling to get my motivation back to start running again :(

Got anyone to run with? Any local clubs do social sessions?

I find I go back to club running when I get in the CBA mode and find someone to chat too while i'm running.
