Hi,

Has anyone applied the Autumn upgrade yet?

  • Did it work?
  • Do XP clients still load?
  • Did a Server 2003 server process it?
  • Anyone do it with SOLUS 3?

Well done to Capita for having it out on the scheduled release date. (reserving judgement)

Are you crazy? It was only released Friday! No chance that will be done this week.

We are looking to deploy 6th January as it's an inset day - and if there is a Autumn 2 version hopefully it will be by then too so that can get slapped on at the same time!

I'm waiting for the second release (there's always a second release!)

Why can't they get it right the first time around?

Dunno why but this thread has really tickled me. :)

And no its not shown up yet but I usually wait for the problems to be fixed first.

Our LEA hasn't released it yet, and probably won't for a while going by past releases.

However, with those questions, I'd say "why would you be doing that?". The MIS is the single most important system in your school, risking it on unsupported software is a bad idea as there's the potential it could mess things up for you. Not to mention, you'd be in a pickle as it'd be unsupported by Capita anyway.

Can't blame me for assuming... :p

No worries - Just thought I'd qualify. I've a vested interest in knowing what happens to those sorts of sites.

Someone will do it first, and they'll probably be someone who frequents these forums.

Someone will do with a mixed economy of XP / 7, again hopefully they're someone on here.

Some poor soul will risk their arm running it on Server 2003.

TBH - I was just a bit surprised that nobody had already posted a specific "Autumn Upgrade" thread (the other one is a bit off topic) and figured I'd pop one up.

I'm in the process of building our test VM's with it on at the moment so my colleagues can crack on with the internal LA testing.

As it's needed for Census, it's going to be a tight window with Christmas in between!

As my wife once said to me, 'If you assume, you make an ass out of you and I'

Or in this case you and Ming (...the merciless), which is a name i've not heard used for Capita before, but each to their own. ;)

Usually it's covered in the main release thread - which is in the sticky list at the moment, though no-one has replied. Then if there is a major infarction / re-release a separate thread springs up, but it's best kept in the main one for the release.

I'll be waiting for confirmation of all patches being re-written, because i might need some of them. Well, i know i need some of them.

Will probably stick on SQL 2008 for the time being and save the migration fun for xmas or easter.

Its available here through SOLUS2, but with Capitas reputation of messing this up at every release, I'm certainly not going to be the one doing their testing for them...

I'd leave it until at least the end of the week. By then, you should at least know if there are issues, even if they haven't been resolved yet.

Thought you were going to say "One release to rule them all!" Lol. Actually ONE is a dirty word, I better go wash my hands for typing such a sinful word.
