Disaster Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Can yours beat this? I had this lovely chicken wrap for lunch today and it only cost me £1.40!!!!
synaesthesia Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 That means you must work here - where abouts are you?
iceman85 Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 That's so nutritious, I love the use of sauces and salads. Must be nearly 1/8 of a chicken breast in there!
Danp Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Hahahaha! That is bad, sorry for laughing. I wont tell you that I had a bowl of soup with bread and butter, followed by chilli beef and noodles finished with a chocolate brownie and cream then? Oh, that is free ;-)
Disaster Posted November 11, 2013 Author Posted November 11, 2013 Hey, where's the freakin' greenery? That's not included. You'll have to buy a plate of salad for that, but I'd have to sell my car to afford both!
JJonas Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 (edited) I had a giant yorkshire pudding filled with chicken casserole, boiled potatos and green beans Edited November 11, 2013 by JJonas
fiza Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 I think that is the "tear and share" option. Hope you shared it with the rest of your team. I thought I had seen it all!!
Woodeh Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Hilarious, will be emailing the Canteen Manager this one.
elsiegee40 Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 I'd submit that to neverseconds (young Martha) for her consideration http://neverseconds.blogspot.co.uk/
Disaster Posted November 11, 2013 Author Posted November 11, 2013 Is your canteen outsourced? It is indeed. Was that photo a give away?
Edu-IT Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 It is indeed. Was that photo a give away?Oh no, I'm not saying all outsourced catering is bad! I was just curious. I'd be interested to see some more delights though that are served up at your place. Maybe we could come for a meal?
Trapper Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 LEA catering lots of stuff, mostly crap. Outsourced catering little portions, mostly nice. At my last place we had the best of both worlds through the LEA on a separate contract. £2.00 fish, chips and mushy peas. And no staff member ever finished it all!

I wont tell you that I had a bowl of soup with bread and butter, followed by chilli beef and noodles finished with a chocolate brownie and cream then? Oh, that is free ;-) +1 to this. Not to rub it in or anything.... Well, actually slightly different but you get the idea FREEE FOOOOOOOODDDD!!
Edu-IT Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Why do some places charge staff more? Seems a bit odd, if they are the same portion sizes?
penfold_99 Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Why do some places charge staff more? Seems a bit odd, if they are the same portion sizes? Staff get charged VAT, students don't.
Marshall_IT Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 The dinners at my school are really awesome! Main meal which includes a soup an main or main and dessert costs £2.64 for staff. Recent highlights include calamari, swordfish, roast beef, roast lamb...
Disaster Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 @Disaster - where is the salad / salsa / soured cream etc ?? That's extra. A spoonful and a half of Colseslaw was 43p! Our menu looks ace on paper too, but this is the the reality. The canteen staff are ace though and do sort me out where they can and they are well understaffed.
