** Shakes fist at MS ***

Thanks MrMat was 10th in the queue on the SIMS helpdesk when I read this. Anybody found which update it is for Win 8.1 ???? This update doesn't seem to apply to Win 8.1 but it still happens :(

Another work around is to enter the date manually, so you don't need to uninstall the patch.

We currently doing this. Our LA helpdesk was bombarded with calls :S

Spent an hour this morning chasing around with this. Found the DotNet4.5 security update causing the issue about fifteen minutes ago. Should have come here first...!

If it is a known bug, I do wish they'd link that article to the fault code - 1829-4733-7100 Would be handy @PhilNeal?

I got in nice and early when one of our staff mentioned the issue this morning... there was not even a queue on the capita helpdesk but we're using the manual entry of date for now as that's easier than removing the update just for WSUS to put it back on again

exactly what i just found :)

Just spoke to capita support and the software engineers are still investigating the cause as removing the above patch doesn't work for everybody. Entering the date is the workaround

Possible the update for windows 8.1 is KB3023222.

This is an update waiting for me to install, and my SIMS is still fine. :)

This works BTW. Removing KB3023222 for Win 8.1

Been dealing with this today. Mostly our admin staff who got the update last night; the practice our teaching staff have of only shutting down their laptops every leap year has worked in their favour.

Ran out some MS updates this morning to some of our workstations and one Admin user on a SIMS W7 workstation is reporting an error 1829-4733-7100 Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object. System Invalid Operator Exception.

Not happening on workstations that haven't had the MS updates.

Rang CAPITA Support - 10th in the queue. Anyone else having similar issues?

Yes there is an issue with the latest .Net framework that killed the calendar button. Enter the date manually.

Here is the link to the other thread regarding this issue.

Just had this through from my admin team and thought I would share which has come from our LEA support team.

THIS ERROR IS INTENDED FOR SCHOOLS WHO USE THE CAPITA SIMS SOFTWARE AND IS NOT RELEVANT TO ANY OTHER MIS SOFTWARE.

We have been made aware of a fault code which is appearing in various areas of the SIMS MIS system since Microsoft released an automatic update which may have been implemented on school’s servers overnight.

The error manifests as a number (1829-4733-7100) specifically when users who are entering data select any drop down date box in SIMS and will close down your SIMS software without notice.

Capita are aware of the issue and are working on a resolution as a matter of urgency.

In the meantime, schools are being asked to enter any dates manually and not use the drop down boxes.

Hope this helps anyone explain any recent problems since Tuesday.

I've disabled our rollout of the latest Windows updates temporarily, until the issue is resolved. Hopefully Capita will have a fix out relatively quickly!!

:mod:

There were a few threads regarding this so I've merged and will sticky.

Worth a re-read of the full thread as there is some useful info, such as a workaround by typing the date in manually.

There is a couple of threads already merged for this, but it was a .Net security update and Capita are trying to write a patch but it's been 2 days so far.

Oh official work around is manually type in the date.

Well Capita have had the message as a hot topic on their My Account site since Wednesday when the issue arose so you would have thought the support team you dealt with might have been aware of it.
