@dalsoth Yes you can. Outlook will first try to connect using the SCP method and will realise it's not connected to the domain and then will use the predefined autodiscover URLs. Failing this, it will then try to connect using the A record, if this fails it will use the SRV method. Make sure your records are setup properly externally if you are using them and also make sure your certificates are setup. If all fails, run the analyser mentioned by simad00 and post/PM results. Exchange 2007 questions!! Advice please....
sukh replied to mo_vigilante's topic in Enterprise Software
Hi No access, only have BB. 1. To use Outlook from a personal PC, you need to setup Outlook Anywhere. This includes setting up certificates and configuring Exchange for Outlook anywhere. 2. Has this ever been setup? 3. Other members here will be able to help, or I will give you more information on my return on Friday. Sukh -
[ms office - 2003] Automatically Insert Password; Outlook
sukh replied to Bocaj1994's topic in Office Software
Hi If you're using Outlook on a LAN with Exchange, then Outlook will automatically login to the mailbox if a mail-enabled user opens Outlook. Outlook should use IWA. If this is your setup and Outlook is prompting for credentials then this is a separate issue. Would help if you can describe the env in more detail and answer Steve's questions. Sukh -
Hi Away from the PC for a few days, but will give you more details on my return. Can help with HP servers only. Basically, you have to create a separate OU in AD, then use the HP Util to setup AD objects for the iLO. Finally you enable the iLO for AD integration and specify the level of access allowed. Sukh

Exchange 2007 questions!! Advice please....
sukh replied to mo_vigilante's topic in Enterprise Software
Hi So do the staff want to access emails via OWA or Outlook? When you mean, bulk the users and archive, what product/technology are you thinking of? Or are you thinking of using powershell to export data to a PST file? Sukh -
Exchange 2007 questions!! Advice please....

@mo - 1. Have OWA or Outlook Anywhere worked before 2. Has this been setup, if not, you will have to set this up. 3. What do you want to bulk archive and where to? Sukh -
So how many distribution lists do you want to set-up? See below for powershell to create group New-DistributionGroup: Exchange 2007 Help Then set custom attribute on each group. Also see. Powershell « Live@edu Sukh

@dezt - If you have the issue again or has not been resolved, post back. Sukh

Hi How did you import the users? Powershell? What group do you want to setup? DL? SG? and do you want to assign this group a custom attriubute? Sukh

@gavlar - I would focus on one role at a time, deal with AD first as this may cause other issues. 1. How many DC are there? 2. I assume it's single forest? How many domains? 3. When you tried to demote the DC, did you get any errors? Was this successful? 4. Collect the logs below and post/PM me. %windir%\debug Dcpromoui.log Dcpromos.log Dcpromo.log %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\ServerManager\ServerManagerExceptions.log C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Temp\ServerManager.Log Sukh

@gavlar - You have removed the DC role, what role are you trying to remove now? Only the Web services role? You mention AD again? Sukh

Can we try again and without safemode and see if we can reproduce?

@jjohnsoncantell - Have you posted the BPA report. Can you also check the DNS settings on DC01. The report will be very helpful. Sukh

If you are going to use logging, please set to 10002 (Hexadecimal).

@psydii - It was a suggestion in case RODC were/are being used. The issue and root cause are unknown. Putting in a call to MSFT is the best option in any case. However, given this situation, turn-around for initial response will be 4 hours, then after that no guarantee and impact is minimal, i.e you have another DC, also no users are effected. But like I say, MSFT is you best contact or your support provider. However, the articles I normally post here do NOT always been YOU should do it. If they are specific then I will make sure I state that. In this case I suggested 'Also see'. I expect one to read any post/KB articles before making a change to the production enviornment or if they take the risk and not to then it's up to them. Changing settings on the infrasructure should be thought of carefully. Sukh

@dezt - What I was looking for was for all the results from the out put. Also, if you can provide me or check your GPO settings in all your GPOs. You should be able to save this HTML and post/PM. I have only seen this once before and basicially the issue was with gpo tattooing. If you delete the DNS entry on the problematic PC, and do a gpupdate /force and/or reboot the machine, do the old DNS server entries come back? Sukh

post the results of the BPA. Also see Dcdiag fails for NCSecDesc test on Windows 2008 Domain Controllers Sukh

Hi Are you sure there are no other GPO's defining this? Do gpresults /z > c:\gp.txt and post/OM Are you sure DHCP is configured is configured properly, i.e the scopes? Check both the old and new for references to the old DNS server. Sukh

@bodminman - different domains or forests? What verion of AD? Cheers Sukh
-
@paul - Sure, np. BTW, have you got OWA setup now, internal and external. Cheers Sukh
-
@Richard - Basically, you need to virtual directories one for External and one for Internal then set WI one and basic on the other. Then set your Internal and External URL for these direcotires. Sukh
