@ben - You cant- You need to authenticate as a user who has permissions. If you use the Outlook method you have to have access to the mailbox. Why not use Powershell? Sukh -

sukh replied to smurfomatic's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
1. Which version of Exchange are you using. It appears to be standard and not enterprise. 2. I would say from what you have posted the the edb limit is the casue. 3. How to increase the Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 18-gigabyte database size limit - Use thie KB to increase the limit. Sukh -
Issue seems to be more on the client. 1. Have you tried another PC with Outlook 2003? 2. Have you tried to rebuild the Outlook profile and try with a fresh one? 3. Is Outlook cache mode enabled, if so, disable this and test.

Exchange 2003 keeps freezing since virus attack
sukh replied to smurfomatic's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
Hi 1. Gather the events (errors/warnings) from the application and system event logs and post 2. How frequently does this happen? Actual timings would benice rather than guesses. 3. Run the Exchange BPA and save report and post/PM. Check your self there are no major errors/warnings. If yes, correct. 4. Does Exchange actually hang or crash? Sukh -
Hi They can use POP3 and leave a copy on the server so each can download a copy. It's the replies which are going to be a little tricky. Or, if they use MAPI (exchange/outlook) then they can both open the same mailbox and see incoming and sent items Why not use use a web based email in addition to what they are using now? Be much easier and less hassle? Sukh

Hi Use HP array config utiltiy on the server to get serial. Or you HP systems management. This should be installed on the server, find under the start munu>All programs. If you pull out disk, and no hot spare avaliable, you will lose your RAID. Sukh

dont select disable and then try to search using days since last login, try 30 and see what results you get. no need to raise func
-
@techine - Domain Func should not make any diff. Are you sure you're not selecting both disabled and days since last login...

Can you ensure that method 2 is set (manual method for Outlook 2003). Outlook connection issues with Exchange 2010 mailboxes because of the RPC encryption requirement Sukh

Hi 1. Why not have the email sent to the teacher, teacher can use an Outlook rule to put email into a folder of their choice in their mailbox. 2. Use Public Folders as mentioned above. Create a public folder, mail-enable this folder, provide email to students, students email, teacher accesses public folder. 3. Use Sharepoint (if this is deployed) Sukh
-
1. Are you able to add the additional mailbox or does that fail too? 2. If suceeds, what happens when you try to expand the mailbox for User B in Outlook? 3. Do you get any errors? 4. Is Outlook 2003 on the LAN? i.e are you connecting to Exchange 2010 on the LAN or are you usng OA? 5. Apart from the additional mailboxs to be opened (User B and C) can User A logon to Outlook 2003 and send/receive email? 6. Any reason why you want to use Outlook 2003? Sukh
-
If the User A has full mailbox permission to User B and C, then regardless of what client (Outlook) User A uses, User A should be able to access the mailbox. Are you trying to add as an additional mailbox? Sukh
-
Hi Seems like a DNS issue. Confirm DNS setting on the clients. Put a static entry in hosts file and test. Sukh

If User A is a member of a Domain admin group, this could be the cause. Privledges groups and account as domain admins, account operators, administrator are protected secuirty groups. They are part of SDHolder. By default these groups are denied permissions to mailboxes unless you have explicitly modified how SDHolder works. However, saying that, SDHolder does not enforce after x weeks, the refresh is a lot quicker than minutes/hours. Are you sure that it happens every x weeks? As a test, I would remove user from domain admin, this isn't best practise, the reason for SDHolder. Admin account used for admin purposes, give User A an normall account and give this new user account full mailbox permissions and test. If this still an issue, then post back. If you can wait, then maybe we can try and reproduce. Sukh

@gareth - Just had a qucik look at your logs, need to How long does it take now? Sukh

Hi 1. Can you reproduce the issue or does this only happen after x weeks 2. If you give User A permissions to say User B and User C mailboxes, are you saying User A cannot access the mailbox again? 3. What type of acces are you granting? Full mailbox access or to individual default folder (inbox, calendar etc..)? 4. How is User A given access? Via Outlook or EMC? 5. Is User A a delegate for User B and C? 6. Is User A a member of a privledge group such as domain admin, account operators etc.. Sukh

You would want to filter out any resource/service accounts as these wil be inactive but used.
-
1. If you want to manage yourself (time and resources/cost). If so, Fenestrae are good. 2. Use cloud service, much easier. may free trials available. Sukh

Correct. Any transaction get's written to logs then is replayed into the DB. So after your full back on 12pm on Mon, you dont need the logs to recover up to 12pm Mon. Between Mon 12pm and Tue 12pm, all information is in the logs and written to the DB. On Tue at 12pm you have another full backup. Now you can recover as pf Mon 12pm or Tues 12pm. If you wanted to recover say Mon at 3pm and disregard all other transactions then you cant. Also, depends how critical your DB is to you. Say you wanted to recover up to Monday 5pm on a Tue, as you realised transactions after 5pm transactions were wrong. You could only roll back to 12pm Mon and you will lose all the other transaction up to 5pm Mon and would have to make those again (no transaction log backups). Sukh
