sukh replied to networkingNut's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
Point 5. I'm not talkning about cache mode, im talking about Exch server caches permissions. So - for immediate effect, restart the IS service or be dismount/mount the store. Note there will be an outage for this! -
Backing up email boxes using Outlook 2010 and exmerge
sukh replied to networkingNut's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
1. Which ver on Exch? Include SP level and rollup? 2. What OS is it sitting on? 3. Have you given your self full mailbox access to the ex-students accounts? 4. If yes, create a new dedicated account for exmerger, priveledge account will have deny access to mailboxes even if set, depending on how exch is configured. 5. Exch also cachespermission, for immediate effect, restart the IS service or be dismount/mount the store. Note there will be an outage for this. -
[ms office - 2010] Outlook 2010 Ignore conversation
sukh replied to Firefox's topic in Office Software
Create a GPO and navigate to User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Classic Administrative Templates(ADM)\Microsoft Office Outlook 2003\Disable items in user interface\Custom, double clickDisable command bar buttons and menu items, enable this option and then specify the control IDs 17648, rungpupdate in cmd to take effect. Use the right template, in this ex I used 2003 -
1. Yes, you have to download and then run the tool on the desktop.
-
1. Not sure of the setup, but at work if email is accessed via Outlook you need to know if it's via MAPI or POP3, but if POP3 I'd suspect that the Inbox wouldn't appear too. 2. Is it all sent items or some? 3. Are you sure there isn't a view set in OWA? 4. What if you try search for email in sent items? Anything come up? 5. Has this ever worked? 6. Verify this - Use MFCMapi and navigating to the Sent Items folder. There is an attribute PR_Attr_Hidden, PidTagAttributeHidden, ptagAttrHidden Is this valiue True or False? If true change to false.

Sharing mailboxes, calendars in Exchange 2010 / outlook 2010
sukh replied to Max_Power's topic in Enterprise Software
1. Either do it at the client level (Outlook) i.e setup the PA as a delegate on the Head's Outlook client. This is more granular, and can fine tune permissions so that the PA can only see the calendar. You can roght click on each of the other default folders such as Inbox, drafts etc...and share them too. 2. Or you can give full mailbox permission to the PA on the Head mailbox, go into the EMC, find the Head mailbox, right click, Manage Full Access Permission and add the PA. 3. Shared calendars, either create a mailbox and share the calendar out, or use PF. -
1. Even so, not sure why ISA has been deployed on a DC, not recommened at all. 2. If ISA is oroviding services to Exch like OWA/EAS. It should sit in the DMZ not the LAN.
-
1. Do you need ISA installed on these servers at all? 2. Can you PM or post me the errors and log files for each command.

[ms office - 2010] Outlook 2010 shared calendars
sukh replied to cyr0n_k0r's topic in Office Software
1. You can still use calendars (PF). 2. If you have SharePoitn you can use that. 3. I know you dont want a full blown mbx, but this is the alternative to PF. Depending on the purpose, create a resource/room/equipement mailbox or just share a caldenar -

1. Yes, make sure you have Exch 2003 SP2 deployed at least. 2. I've seen a few issues with RPC filter pack, even when the firewall is disabled, it still somehow stays hooked in.
-
1. You shouldnt host Exch with any other applications such as SQL/DC/GC etc. 2. You will run into a lot of issues if you combine the roles. 3. If you want to combine the roles, you may want to consider a SBS server rather than the full blown products. 4. Put Exch on it's own server and think about HA /DR if you want. For 200 users, I'd virtualise Exch (it is supported). NOt sure what verison, I assume 2010?
-
1. What issue do you actually have? 2. Could be issue with firewall rules in place 3. Disable AV/Firewall on server if used. 4. Run the Exch BPA and see what is says
-
1. That may work. 2. Unless youre organised and as part of the course you have all their personal email addresses, then you could restrict student to send emails to only those address, via transport rule
-
1. You can try and use a transport rule to stop email from leaving your Org if the message header contains the SMTP address of your students? Would that do it?
-
1. GAL segmenttion will be supported in SP2 for Exch 2010. 2. Sorry, im still little confused, do you want to restrict all students from sending outbound email externally? i.e so students can only send email to other students internally? Also prevent the students from sending email to staff?
-
1. Which version of Exch are you using, 2010? Not sure if you can wait for a while but SP2 for Exch 2010 will be coming out soon, I can try and find out when, then you ccan use GAL segentation. 2. These test emails whch you want to prevent, cant you setup restrictions or is that too much work? Who do you want to restrict sending from and to? Is it a simple case of students to teachers. You could use Delivery restrictions and transport rule.
-
1. Not sure what you mean? Have you got 2 Exch Org? 2 AD Forests? 2. How is your current setup?
