Had a Meraki setup. License costs kept going up and up. Dirched it all for a Unifi setup instead. Happy days. I'd go Aruba instead of Meraki.

Very hectic time of year for me. Since Covid, we now film all our Christmas performances so that basically means running around everywhere making sure all year groups are filmed, edited, and uploaded so it can go out before Christmas. And then making sure no one that can't be filmed isnt in the middle of the shots! Last day Christmas party is when I truly can relax. I don't do any work over Christmas as we are closed and the break is short anyway so once we hit the last day of term, bring on the Christmas holidays!

Yes, I've seen this issue here too. Also got the issue with dissapearing folders that are there but just not showing up until you search for them. Somethings broke that's for sure.

Thankyou for your message. I did think that having no grace period would have prompted them to enrol straight away but will change the grace period to 2 days and see what that does. Thankyou.

So we have 2FA for our staff GSuite accounts and in theory new staff should sign in and then be prompted to enrol. At the moment they are getting this when a new account attempts to login "Your sign-in settings don’t meet your organization’s 2-Step Verification policy. Contact your admin for more info". I then need to generate backup codes to kick start the enrolment. What have I done wrong? Normally it should just prompt to enrol. Anyone know? Thankyou.

We export out of Sims. (First Name, Surname) and then put in their Email addresses and organisational unit. Easy enough to do in Excel as you start typing one and then it does the rest for you. We set same password for all and then they can change if needed. Students have inital of their first name followed by their surname and the year they started in Year1. So a year1 student this year would be: [email protected] Each year group is in its own organisational unit. We have: Pupils>YearGroup>

I'm going to try OpenDNS Family filtering tonight. I'll add my routers public IP to OpenDNS and then add the DNS settings to each laptop. Then you can set up filtering options as you wish.

Sounds more like a hardware issue but maybe worth just doing a firmware update to see if it helps.

Thankyou. I will have a look at this and how it compares ot OpenDNS. I found a client that will update it if the IP changes so thi sight work. I guess it will depend on how much customisation each of them have. Just read that article. Some very good points.

To be fair as long as Wifi was working we were happy so I don't know about any other features but I could log into the dashboard and see my overview of everything without any issues. Kept on getting the renewal e-mails until the end. We ditched them for a new Ubiquiti Unifi setup.

I will always be there at the beginning and to setup, to ensure all is working. You can almost guarentee (unless you have a locked cabinet) that someone will have tampered with something. So I always check the correct inputs are selected, volume levels, Mic battery status, etc. We used to keep getting staff breaking cables so I now have staff connect to a bluetooth audio connection so they can play directly from their phones or laptop and be anywhere accross the hall.

We've had this grace period before. I was in the same situation as you two years ago.

Hi everyone, This is a situation for home, not work. My kids are still quite young (7 and 8) and are wanting to use their laptops more and more. I would really like to find a sollution that can block websites, key words, etc. Even some google searches can come up with horrible pictures. I've used Kiddle for Google searches which helps a little but that doesn't stop them accessing certain sites or wondering off into unkown territory. What would you suggest? I was looking at possibly OpenDNS and customising that but with a changing IP will need updating regularly I guess. What do you think? Thankyou.

We push certain updates at night so keep machines on on some nights but shutdown on others.

We have an engineer coming out next week but apparently there is several weeks wait for parts at the moment.
