Does anyone have, or know where I can get, the Roland TS-30 drivers for Windows 7..? Our existing ones (which worked on XP) don't appear to work correctly on Win 7.... Cheers - Andrew

Many thanks. I think we are at about the same point as you. I haven't managed to find a way of blocking network browsing via address bar. Users cannot get into anything they shouldn't, but it worries me just in case we add something to the network in the future and maybe forget to tie-down the permissions as quickly as we should then they could potentially cause problems. I would much rather network browsing were hidden. I cannot believe how MS have dropped the ball so badly on this one! Cheers_ Andrew

Thanks for the info., but that doesn't appear to work either. Users can still browse to the network when choosing Save as in Word (and other software applications). Which settings are you using in Group Policy? Our network is secure in that users can only access what they are supposed to, but I still don't want them to be able to browse the network via this route as, in my opinion, they have no need to do so and it just invites potential trouble. We have rolled-out Windows 7 to our school desktop PCs and all seems to be going well... The only problem which I can't seem to find a fix for, at the moment, is to prevent users from browsing the entire network when saving documents from other programs (such as Word, Notepad etc...) For example, when a user creates a Word document and then clicks Save As they can see/browse to the entire network. That is the only place where they can browse the entire network, all other routes appear to be correctly blocked. I wish MS would be consistent with their application of Group Policies.....grrrrr. Does anyone have a fix for this please? Thanks_ Andrew

We are having this same issue, but a more sinister problem seems to have developed.... Folder re-direction was working ok for us until recently and now the Documents Library includes 2 locations for some unknown reason.... When a user clicks the 2 locations link they get a pop-up window which allows them to Add a new library location (see attached pictures). That allows them to add the C:\ drive and hence they can browse to the C drive, despite it being restricted to them everywhere else!!!! Very bad....Does anyone know how to prevent this or at very least remove the Add button? Cheers_ Andrew

I think the The Pending Devices policy is not enabled on the server. is your clue. As far as I remember, with WDS you can set PCs to be added automatically or go into a 'Pending Administrator Authorisation' state. It sounds like you may have a tick in a box which shouldn't be there or maybe one which is missing in your WDS setup. Andrew

I can't remember the exact software, but I am pretty sure it was someting in Science - maybe something to do with electronic microscopes or something like that. I will see if I can find a specific name for you. Andrew

We had a similar thing to this a few months ago. The problem turned out to be a faulty piece of software which was being applied by Group Policy. The culprit software worked fine on WinXp, but had very strange problems on Win 7. May be worth checking. Andrew

We have this running to some degree. It does work, but the mirroring thing does not work with all iPad apps. There is a free app called Whiteboard which allows Teacher+Pupil collaboration via Apple TV and your school wireless. That works ok. We haven't been using it very long, so I cannot give you too much feedback on it, but it does seem to work at the moment. Andrew

I reckon this kind of thing goes on a lot more than people realise. With the advent of Academies it can only get worse, in my opinion. Some schools are like family clubs, employing relatives, friends, sons and daughters and nothing is said or questioned and with the Academy scheme they have even more autonomy to do as they like. Heads and their teams are getting a lot more paid for from the public purse than they should, in my opinion (I have heard of Heads funding their own and family iPhone contracts from school funds, Sky TV, holidays, family computers etc...etc...). The Government needs to wake up and get this sorted out. It is simple corruption and theft and shouldn't be tolerated! Andrew

Yes the Casio XJ-A145 Projector is exactly the one. It looked very sharp in the demo.

Hi guys, Anyone use these projectors? I watched them in demo at a seminar a few weeks back and was v impressed! They are a bit steep in price but for network connectivity, no bulbs or filters and a five year warranty I think its nailed on. One thing I cannot find is what distance these projectors work from? My understand is that because they are LED projectors they are not "short throw" as this only applies to projectors with bulbs. Let me know! Regards

Its something to do with the virtual network connection I think. We had a similar problem. I will dig around and see if I can find the solution and let you know. Andrew

WinFF does batch jobs and is freeware (I think). We use it all the time - it is good. WinFF - Free Video Converter Andrew PS: It works good on Windows 7 as well.

Once you have your EES agreement in place you then need to decide which license keys to use. You get the option of using MAK keys to activate each device via Microsoft, using up one key (in theory) for each activation or setting up your own KMS server to activate multiple copies on your own network. The old VLK keys have gone as far as I know. Andrew

Did anyone find a definite answer to this problem? Just installed some Windows 7 PCs with Promethean software and whenever a new user logs on they see the 'Other users on this computer are already using the Avtivboard or Activhub. It is recommended they logout first' message. There are no other users logged on. Also, the ActivManager icon doesn't appear.... I wondered if maybe the software was looking for a file (or trying to write to a file) which doesn't exist in Win7?? Any help greatly appreciated guys. Cheers_ Andrew

Check that your users who still use Internet Explorer to access the BBC iPlayer (if you allow it in your school) can still do so. We found that after Chrome was installed it broke some parts of IE..! Most strange, but true! Andrew
