  1. Bought my daughter an iPhone 4 for her 14th birthday (against my better judgement!) - which was about 10 days ago (on a contract from Three). It has developed a strange sound problem. The speaker is only working intermittently - i.e. when it isn't working you cannot hear it ring or hear any music playing, but then it will suddenly work! (not on mute). This suggests a loose connection to me, but a friend (who has had iPhones for a while) seems to think it may be a setting or software issue. I have reset the phone and checked all of the obvious stuff, but the problem is still there. Before I take it back to the Three shop and demand another one, does anyone have any experience of this problem or any fixes? Cheers - A
  2. It belongs to a member of staff. It is a Chie Mini Netbook - Model No. 006 - manufactured by Blaze Netbooks (Chie Netbooks -The First £99 Netbook, Value Netbooks under £100, Cheap Netbooks) A complete piece of junk, in my opinion, but we help where we can...... Andrew
  3. Does anyone know how to change or remove/reset the boot-up password on a Windows CE device? Small netbook running Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Any help welcomed. Cheers. Andrew
  4. Try Bulk AD Users - I think it is still freeware: http://www.wisesoft.co.uk/software/bulkadusers/default.aspx A
  5. We had this problem. The current version seems to be broken in some way. The only way I could get it to work was to re-install it in Safe mode. Andrew
  6. Try this...KompoZer - Easy web authoring or The SeaMonkey They are both OK. Andrew
  7. I would test the power supply if you can. It could still to be working, but may not be supplying correct voltages across the Motherboard. Test with a known good PSU if possible. Andrew
  8. Anyone found a cheaper/free version which works? We need this, but £500 is way too expensive! Andrew
  9. Not that I know of. I have checked all of the possible places it might be hiding and nothing. It's most bizarre.... A
  10. The kids have started using Imageshack (ImageShack® - Online Media Hosting) which contains some rather unsavoury images. We have tried to block the site on our Smoothwall box, but it won't block! We have a Smoothwall SWG-708. Tried all the usual checks, but it's still there..... Anyone encountered this problem?..or got any suggestions? All help welcomed. Thanks - Andrew
  11. Sounds like you might have a bit of bad/incorrect HTML code in there. That can sometimes cause a page to be blank or not load correctly. A
  12. This is the one I have... [ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sumvision-Cyclone-Adaptor-Supports-firmware/dp/B002U2SJC2/ref=pd_sim_ce_13]Sumvision Cyclone MKV FULL 1080p HD Adaptor Media: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo[/ame] Andrew
  13. I think it's the MKII version. It cost me about £70 fairly recently. Andrew
  14. I have one of these and it's great. I stream HD video (720p) via a 200mbps 'Homeplug' (Extra Value 200Mbps Pass-through Powerline Adapter - Twin Pack - Ebuyer) from my Home Network to it with very few problems. It has the advantage of being network enabled (unlike some other HD players) and it plays MKVs, VOBs, ISOs, AVIs etc... with no bother at all. It also has inputs for two USB drives or memory cards. The only thing I haven't been able to get to work is the YouTube function which I believe is a problem for other people as well. I have upgraded the firmware, but still no joy. I also have a Western Digital WDTV box and the Sumvision is equally as good if not better than that. The menus are a bit slicker on the WDTV, but so what? Hope this helps? Andrew
  15. The thing that strikes me about all of this is that when some high-up body decides that Internet access is actually a 'Human Right', how long will it take the Kids who have had their Internet access blocked in school (by us, IT Support, for doing things they shouldn't) to complain that we are 'Breaching their Human Rights' and taking it further??? Food for thought....... A
  16. We have Dell 1908 Fpb 19" TFT monitors which were all new in the Summer of 2009. The Kids have worked out how to make the screens go pink and at the moment we cannot reset them. Aaaaghhhh!!! Have tried factory resetting the monitor, changing the VGA cable, checked the pins in the plugs, adjusting the monitor colour scheme, re-installed video drivers and nothing.....still pink! Anyone had this problem or got any ideas? Anyone from Dell out there who has any knowledge of this model of monitor? All help appreciated. Cheers - Andrew
  17. I had this problem when I first went over to Sky. Tried all the usual stuff checks/fixes and nothing. It turned out to be a faulty router. Sky sent me a new one very quickly. No probs. since then. Andrew
  18. Got it running on a Dell Mini 10 and it's perfect. Fast, responsive and no real issues. Very impressed. Andrew
  19. I have recently discovered quite a few of our students using a site called Pictures.com We didn't have the site blocked (it is now!), but many of the searches (for naughty things) were automatically blocked by our Smoothwall box. However, this site appears to actually cache images from other image-indexing sites and even if the other sites are blocked the images still appear! We have managed to find some rather unsavoury stuff which the kids shouldn't see! Wondered if anyone else has had any experience of this site? Andrew

  22. I've got a WDTV which plays most things. However, it won't play DTS encoded files (no sound). You either need to convert the DTS track using something like Popcorn (PopCorn MKV AudioConverter - Video software and downloads - VideoHelp.com) or buy a WDTV Live box which will play the DTS audio. An alternative might be the Sumvision Cyclone MKV Media Player which looks like it plays everything including DTS. Ebuyer has them for about £65 - Sumvision Cyclone MKV Media Player Version 2 Divx, ISO, Rmvb & MKV HDMI USB/SD Media player HDMI full 1080p Supports DTS and Youtube - Ebuyer Hope this helps? Andrew
  23. Oh well, you learn something new every day! I didn't even know that existed..... No, we don't have it installed on our school machines....so their request did amuse us at the time:D Andrew
