What makes me laugh about building works is that every time something is built/moved/upgraded in the school they seem to forget about the IT requirements and then when we get involved (often quite late in the planning process) they seem shocked by the list of IT requirements which arise and subsequently cost money! I commented early on in this thread about IE10. Having used it for a few weeks I am less impressed with it now! Some web sites simply don't work with IE10 and I have found myself popping open Chrome to be able to do what I need to do. Maybe it works better with Windows 8, but I am not so sure about Win 7!!! Ok, in that case I would take a look in the log viewer on your PC and see if you can see any warning as to what is blocking the .exe That may help..... Andrew

It may be...you don't say what the .exe is that you are trying to run? Andrew

It could be blocked by a software restriction policy using a hash. Have you looked in Group Policy > User Config. > Policies > Windows Settings >Security Settings > Software restriction policies > Additional rules Andrew

Where are you running it? On a desktop PC or a server? Andrew

Yes, we've had it a couple of times this morning. I cannot see anything which would be causing it on our network and it only seems to happen when there have been NGFL problems/outages. I suspect it is something higher up on the NGFL/BT network which is triggering it. It usually settles down after a little while. Andrew

It just doesn't seem to crash as often as IE9 and handles HTML 5 content better. Overall it just feels more robust, in my opinion, than IE9. Andrew

Yes, I suspect the Google issue may be something to do with Northern Grid. We had a small broadband outage yesterday afternoon at about 3:15pm (for about 10 minutes) and I've noticed problems since then.... The Google problem does seem to have settled down now..... Andrew

He has emailed me today: "Hi Andrew We’re currently testing at the moment on Windows 7 for both 32 & 64bit and want to be sure we give customers a working solution. Does anyone know if there is a T-Mobile (EE) or 02 version of this booster? As far as I am aware, the mobile operators can sell these and they are legal but the ones sold by other suppliers are not all legal to use. Andrew

That looks good and would be ideal for our requirements if it provides coverage up to 0.5 miles, as it claims. Only down side at the moment is that the product is not currently available. Andrew

Thanks for everyone's ideas so far. I was really looking for something which could be implemented quite cheaply, rather than an expensive corporate solution. The 'missing' items involved are generally quite low value e.g. digital cameras worth under £75 each, but I am sure with a bit of effort could be located somewhere in school (drawers, cupboards etc.). We have lost a laptop which is a bit more of an issue, so a solution which could work with laptops as well might be good. I did find a possible one - Loc8tor GPS Ortungsgeräte and their GPS product looks ideal, but I am told that the actual tracker part of the package is quite large and would be too big for attaching to a digital camera! We have recently had a couple of digital cameras 'go missing' and a laptop which has disappeared! I cannot say they have been stolen, but they are currently not where they should be and cannot be located....! I wondered if anyone uses or is aware of a GPS or RFID system which could be used to physically track assets such as cameras, laptops, netbooks etc? A bit like the 'Find my iPhone' facility, but for non-Apple equipment. A small tag or adhesive patch could be attached to the hardware item and tracked on a computer/handheld device? Any ideas/advice appreciated. Andrew
