To be honest with that much storage sticking it on the SSDs would be fine, in all likely hood the room that the OS takes up will never be taken up by anything else anyway, unless you have a mountain of data. Seems like your best option in my opinion. The OCD in me is telling you to get two dedicated drives for the OS though but it's really not needed!

You can do it though AFP shares with, I think the command is: afp://user : password@server/share_name I'd create a user for the share, use those credentials and make this command a shortcut on the Mac dekstop. Edit: To mount a drive I think it's also this: mount volume "afp://username:password@myserver/path/" I can never remember the commands so this may be slightly off!

Windows 10 Printing Issues GPO deployment
ShellfishClive replied to apprenticearb's topic in Windows 10
Have you tried mapping it through; User/Computer Configuation > Preferences > Printers That's the way do it through Windows 10, we used to do it the way you did for Windows 7 though. Should be able to do it that way and run gpupdate and it should pull it through. -

I'd double check your GPO then, make sure that you are putting the correct share name in the option. You may have typo'd or something. -

What happens if you try to map the printer manually by going to the share? Does it install? -

Recommendations for NAS for our IT Support team
ShellfishClive replied to DrBeaker's topic in Hardware
I agree with XiJ a desktop Synology is great or QNAP to be honest, real easy to setup and build. -
The only thing I have found for this is this link: https://devblogs.microsoft.com/scripting/hey-scripting-guy-how-can-i-use-windows-powershell-2-0-to-find-active-directory-domain-services-groups-not-being-used/ You'll need to read it all to understand how it works and even then it doesn't tell you everything the group does. I don't know of a specific piece of software that will tell you what an AD group does in terms of GPO, Permissions, Email etc. Seems like it's going to be a manual job of going through them all and plucking them apart.

You could try change this reg key on the print server "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows x64\Drivers\Version-3\DriverName\PrinterDriverAttributes" and setting the value to 1. You will need to restart the print server.

If there is no reason to have them on during the two weeks it's better just to leave them off.

Server 2012 R2 WDS Issue after June updates
ShellfishClive replied to free780's topic in O/S Deployment
You can also turn variable extension off in the TFTP tab on the WDS server to fix it so you don't have to uninstall the update to restart. -
Don't let them in unsupervised. If there is a teacher in the room then, it's up to the teacher to control that lesson and the students, if the CCTV works now use it. Find out who it was and disable their AD account, no kid wants to write on paper anymore they will soon learn.

External users in office 365 distribution list
ShellfishClive replied to Shadow_Walker's topic in Cloud Services
Very strange, I've just created one and it showed up in a matter of minutes. I'm not sure what your issue is, how are you creating the contact? -

Couldn't you create a contact within your organisation and add that to the group? -

Not sure what you used before but we use this now and it works flawlessly, easy setup too. http://www.cjwdev.co.uk/Software/AccountReset/Info.html

I'd also look at the software the school use, make sure it's compatible with Windows 10. It more than likely will be but worth double checking.

Waiting for the live stream! Shame I couldn't make it. -
What happens if you print a test job directly from the MFD using the touch screen? If that's slow then it's an MFD problem.

Looks like it could be an issue with the loom, I'd try going straight from a device to the back of the projector directly cutting out the loom. If that works okay, then try the same device in the loom and see if ghosts, if so you know the loom has the fault.

Classroom management

We uses Veyon too, seems to be working really well and it doesn't cost anything. Updated regularly too so that's a bonus. -
