Gmail blocking Hotmail/Outlook emails from parents
robintech replied to JustPaul89's topic in Cloud Services
Not on Gmail but do the email logs show anything under ELS spam classifications https://support.google.com/a/answer/2623280?sjid=15303230534433946882-EU#spam-defs Maybe someone is marking it as spam internally -
No practical experience but I went through the same thought process and ended up never fixing it and only watching a lot of YT videos Can type refill which the internet seemed to say is a bit pointless and expensive for what it is so didn't try that, "they" said system should never drop to the point it stops working unless its leaking somewhere and if it leaked enough to stop working there's no point refilling unless you want to do it every month Thought about replacing the cheapest parts like the Schrader valves in the high low side and then trying a can refill in case they were leaking, which would be worthwhile refilling then. Thought about a UV leak test but you need some way to feed it into the system under pressure and the fill valves will show up as leaking due to having dye pushed through them anyway Thought about a Condenser as it was under £100, needed to drain the coolant to remove the radiator enough and in theory replace the butane? O-rings where the pipes join the condenser bought the O-rings for £5 but never got round to doing the job Ended up selling the car a year later with no aircon which I really missed during the hottest summer ever

Smoothwall not allowing Replits to work
robintech replied to kennysarmy's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Did this a while back but ended up moving to firewalledreplit.com https://docs.replit.com/additional-resources/firewalled-replit and put these in "Do not inspect" *.firewalledreplit.com *.firewalledreplit.co *.cdn.replit.com https://docs.replit.com/legacy/teams-edu/it-administrators-toolkit -

[PaperCut] Retrospective Balance Adjustment?
robintech replied to Planehazza's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Apart from manually adjusting the cost of each individual job there's no way I know of to change the historical data the report will use. You could manually edit the text in the report by the % difference maybe for a approximate total and send that to them or SLT could just understand it will change next month and wait a bit. -
Things that could have been improved before being approved...
robintech replied to 6Foot2's topic in Jokes/Interweb Things
I like to think they're all expecting its a prelude to something like " and you'll need that keyring to hold your brand new car keys!" -
minor bugs , just rebuild the structure every 6 months and uninstall the dog walkers nightly

Why not script it using AI? Write a PowerShell Script: Create a script that will help you automate tasks. For example, you can use PowerShell to: Remove files and folders (e.g., old plant debris, fallen branches). Trim or remove specific types of vegetation (e.g., weeds). Adjust permissions on files or folders. Here’s a basic example of how you might remove files older than a certain date: Get-ChildItem -Path "C:\Path\To\Your\Garden" -Recurse | Where-Object { $_.LastWriteTime -lt (Get-Date).AddMonths(-6) } | Remove-Item -Force

This seems to happen every year but they always back down and clarify tenants can opt out.

DHCP Server and WiFi password
robintech replied to Supermanpunch786's topic in Learning Network Manager
Not saying about OP but I think everyone has a password protected SSID as one of their networks and eventually it gets revealed or shared "unofficially" or given out when you're trying to do 100 things at once and don't really care anymore, it should be really unattractive to use though from a filtering point of view , with clients as isolated as possible. -
Web browsers changing URLs in one room only
robintech replied to Jaan's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
only guessing but reminds me of AV or filtering trying to display a block message but not being able to, going to the http://www.example.com would sometimes load and show "this page is blocked" etc Edit: as if it was trying to rewrite the URL -
Before I start on ours has anyone installed the new version yet, any workarounds needed etc.

Smoothwall - Blocking Google searches
robintech replied to lparry's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Is it definitely above any allow policies in the application order?, had this happen to me where some policy for TVs I think; was allowing iPlayer and Disney etc for Exam laptops because it saw them as unauthenticated briefly and applied that policy -
Speaking to Microsoft impossible
robintech replied to discoveranother's topic in Licensing Questions
Always been really good for me, only delayed after being escalated and then might be a day or so. I always opt for Email and rebuff any telephone contact options so not sure if that alters it. -
[ipad] MERAKI - Just disabled network access for ALL school iPads!
robintech replied to Koldov's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
It will allow any SSID you deployed to it and blank the rest, think we did ours through Apple Configurator as it seemed to have issues when enrolling them. Can you get an ethernet adaptor and get them back online to remove the restriction -
Exchange Online to introduce External Recipient Rate Limit
robintech replied to pablo007's topic in Enterprise Software
Don't think we've ever got close to the 10,000 recipient limit then, 2,000 maybe if they sent a School closed and then an update on the situation on the same day. We have custom limits for each group on sending which should notify and block before Microsoft block it. -
Exchange Online to introduce External Recipient Rate Limit

Would prefer it if they restricted the tenant at a much higher level instead of per mailbox, couldn't spammers just switch mailboxes every hour -
Smoothwall and Adult Mixed Content reports
robintech replied to robintech's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I think we'll end up excluding the notifications as it seems so random and yet concentrated on one or two domains, we have the rules in place for safe search but they aren't in theory searching for anything at the time. I'll double check anyway. Even ran an audit log search on 365 in case a teacher had linked an image lazily into a document but nothing that coincided with the notifications. -
Had a lot of similar type experiences with "we've got X coming in tomorrow, could you be around to help set everything up" and when asked what device they have, USB-C , HDMI, VGA, Clicker, PowerPoint, Apple Pages, Prezzi, Some always on VPN NHS laptop that our firewall will never allow through, embedded videos that are blocked on the guest network, an iPad from 2012 , 802.11g that only does 30Mbit maximum for their 2.5GB Video. All 10 minutes before the start as students are walking in And then if provided they forget to give back the USB-C to HDMI adaptor, clicker and USB stick we had to use to download it for them.

Trying to work out why so many students are hitting some domains that are listed as Adult Mixed Content such as media.themoviedb.org without intentionally going there. This gets emailed to the Safeguarding as a report who then work out it wasn't deliberate and ask IT why its happening. My thought is dynamic pages like Bing, live, msn.com are somehow pulling images from these locations which triggers it, these are the domains closest to the Adult Mixed Content domains, timewise

Can they sign up with https://signup.azure.com/studentverification?offerType=1&srcurl=https:%2F%2Fazure.microsoft.com%2Ffree%2Fstudents not used this but interested in it, would have thought you could allocate it somehow to students on their behalf or have the email domain validated.

Haven't changed ours and Commercial Data Protection is turned on which seems to be the default for Education so Staff can use it if they want, luckily it seems to break with the WebSockets it uses going through Smoothwall so can block it by not applying an exception for Students or just restricting times it can be used.
