Are you blocking from a system level on GP or a user level? I believe we had done it at system level, but you want to be blocking the user level. I don't think you can block them if they are already installed however. It may be a case of catching students in the act and uninstalling them?
-
Yeah we have tried all of these methods, to no avail sadly. I did say to Senso that I didn't want to turn off the Logging and Blocking policy as it was a key feature for Safeguarding. In the end, Senso said the issue was logged against V1 of Senso, and hadn't been logged yet for V2, so we just ramped up our migration to the V2 clients at our sites. So far, no black or white screens so its positive so far!

Wow, I had an inkling it may have been Senso, I did notice the CPU usage does spike significantly when logging in, and the black screen does fix itself when the CPU usage drops and you restart explorer.exe, I believed Explorer was updating from the Microsoft Store as for some reason, Explorer and Windows run separately, and some versions aren't compatible with the other, odd scenario. Obviously disabling app logging sort of defeats the point of safeguarding using Senso, so obviously we aren't disabling this. I'll log it with Senso anyway to get more eyes on the problem from their side.

We have Senso running, which I doubt would be the issue as we have it running for student and staff devices but it only seems to impact Student Devices primarily.

Wonder if anybody has had any issues regarding Windows just crashing explorer and going to a black screen with just the cursor? It was a minor issue to start with and it seems to be growing exponentially. Have attempted the following: - Mixture of Dell Latitude 3310/3190 and HP 255 G7s, all W11 compliant and with 8GB RAM so hardware isn't a limitation. Both W10 and W11 doing this however (22H2/23H2/24H2/25H2). - Rebuilt from scratch, still does it after logging on. - Fully updated on latest version of 25H2 with all current Dell/HP drivers. - Devices will randomly fix themselves at random point (there was an Intune Store issue last week on the health centre, but this hasn't fixed the issue). - Device comes up with the Shutdown/Restart box before the black screen crash on some devices. - Device seems to be using a lot of CPU for processes such as Sophos, OMA-DM and AppX. - Rebooting explorer fixes some temporarily, but most of the time it will crash again. Just sort of banging my head against a wall trying to nail down what this issue is as it is slowly growing.

So we utilise something that doesn't take that long to set up, utilising Power Automate and Microsoft Excel. So the idea is we have something called a 'Red Card or Medical Emergency' system. A staff member fills out a form using MS Forms, this then with Power Automate, scrapes the data from the form and adds it as a new row on an Excel spreadsheet. Once this row has been added, an email is then sent out to all the relevant people (Red Cards for Pastoral and Medical Emergency for First Aiders). Our Pastoral team have Surface Go 3's so they can action callouts and emergencies whilst on the go. They either usually have the Log on Excel open, or they check their emails.

Noticed something creeping up recently on the latest build of Windows 11 in regards to CoPilot. Is there a way either through Group Policy or a registry setting that anybody knows about to remove it from the Taskbar? I want a clean as possible taskbar and it has auto added itself for student profiles so they can access and use it and I want to disencourage this as of right now. According to some threads I have seen they ask you to add/edit the following REG codes: Both of these according to other forum posts no longer seem to work and I am racking my head around how to remove it. You can easily right click the taskbar and select Taskbar Settings and disable it manually but this isn't feasible for students and staff. Any tricks anybody has gotten to remove it?

Does anyone know of one that utilises both iPad as well as Android phone management? We had both iPads and Android phones for Senior Leadership staff as from what I can see Mosyle only supports iOS devices currently. Just wondered if anyone had something that supported Android devices too?

Hi there, So recently we've seen an issue crop up where our smart boards work absolutely fine when not using office and the board is calibrated successfully. However when entering presentation mode on Powerpoint the pen is massively out of line with the board, I'd say about 4 inches to the right of where you are attempting to draw. For reference: - We use staff laptops that are plugged into a USB-C PD Dock, that then goes into a splitter, which extends to an external monitor and the smart board (so the Monitor and Smart Board show the same thing) - I have installed the latest version of the Smart Driver 12.20.244.0, and have tried with V11 also. - We have the Smart Powerpoint add-in installed. - Calibrating and changing the resolution of both the monitor and the projector does not seem to fix the issue. Has anyone else come across this issue or have something similar they have encountered/fixed?

I remember the very first game console we as a family owned was a Playstation 1, this was back when I was roughly 3 or 4 in 2001/2? And one of the mainstays I would play was Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon. I remember grinding for hours just trying to chase down those stupid egg thieves! Could never get past the Rhynoc race in the Super Bonus World... You can imagine my disbelief that Spyro got remastered recently, I went and bought all the merch they were churning out at that stage for it! -
So we have recently started testing with some staff laptops with docks at our secondary school and have noticed one glaring issue that I can't for the life of me seem to get around the issue of Presenter View on Powerpoint. So our laptops plug into Power/Display over a Type C dock into a singular external monitor and then a projector. So the setup we have is the laptop is duplicated with the projector/interactive whiteboard and the external monitor is independent (so staff can work whilst work is being displayed). However through Powerpoint when we launch it, shows Presenter View as unticked, when enabled it works but then when you shut Powerpoint and relaunch it, it will show as unticked again and no method we have tested seems to get it to enable. We have tried different users, and that came up with nothing, as they have the same issue, I've tried changing the UseMonMgr to 1 in the registry (it was already set to 1, but unticked....). Is this just a bug in Windows 11 with Office 365 or has anybody else come across this issue?

Yeah we did have a look into this as Microsoft do a sample Teams app for Bulletins through PowerApps. The issue we had was it only allows you to post bulletins, and not clear after the day was over. Did also consider a separate Team with channels which staff can just post on, but we would have to either rename or recreate channels for each day of the week, every week, or we can't clear Teams messages for other users either, which is a shame.

Just curious as to what other people are using as a Daily Bulletin system for their schools? We currently have a member of staff who is assigned to a shared mailbox who posts as said bulletin mailbox at the end of each school day and members of staff email in with their bulletins. But this creates an awful lot of manual admin work and was wondering if people use something inherently easier to use, where staff could post themselves. We did look at the Bulletins App through Teams but there isn't a clear cut way of organising bulletins for the day, just general bulletins. We would also rather not use external systems for us to manage (such as the Messages software I've seen on here before). Just wondered what everyone else was using, if anybody was using a Power Automate/Teams deployment or something that would be easier to manage.

Yeah oddly, there are no conflicts or warnings.

Tried this also and the same issue applies...I seem to remember some forum posts a while ago mentioning that certain Edge updates break group policy, perhaps this latest update does the same?
