Moving from 365 A1 Plsu to A3 - can't assign licenses
robintech replied to Sheridan's topic in Cloud Services
Since August this year I think A1 plus which is the only A1 that gave Desktop apps is gone, can use Office 365 A1 for students (free) with Microsoft 365 Apps for Students, for desktop access(paid) Edit: looks like January 2025 now "Office 365 A1 Plus for education will retire in January 2025" https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/education/products/office-365-a1-plus -
Bit confusing the first one is a picture of an obscure analogue Video Floppy instead of a 3.5" floppy

not had it happen but you can disable the Windows Key in EWP instead of GPO

the space optimisation will move files to the cloud as needed and just have a thumbnail locally afaik. If it removes them from the iPad they will be in the iCloud already We use an email account created for the iPads, then they email themselves or the teacher the photos they need. Never seems to need any attention from us and can only send emails inside the org, password is some random string

Microsoft Forms how to show most recent result
robintech replied to robintech's topic in Cloud Services
Is it easy to parse the results with that method? was worried with a lot of fields it would be a dense block of text -
We use Forms for several things and it used to show the most recent result when user followed the link in the notification emails, but since the changes it longer does so and has a Word cloud type overview You can still click on Check individual results which starts at the oldest entry and move manually through or guess the highest number to see the most recent result. Is there a way to have it show the most recent or to attach it to an email "New result page experience The results page has also been completely revamped with a sleek, modern design. You can now quickly analyze responses with clear, visually engaging charts and graphs, making the data easier to interpret for more effective analysis."

Today I found out ... (Things you had no idea about until recently)
robintech replied to 6Foot2's topic in General Chat
apparently T-Mobile customer survey texts are sent from 1112 which triggers it on Samsung phones due to the 112 emergency number -
had the same issue where it doesn't pick up on things being implemented already and you have to select that you used a third party service to resolve the issue, also most of it requires E3 or E5 if you want a high score

AI - Edu licenses CoPilot/ChatGTP
robintech replied to Andycat's topic in AI in Education & Enterprise
Update, problem with ours was Search in Bing set to Secondary/K-12, changing it to Higher Education it starts working in a few seconds and vice versa so they must have some 18+ requirement now https://admin.microsoft.com/Adminportal/Home#/MicrosoftSearch/configurations Microsoft Search in Bing for work or school Organizations with education and enterprise service plans can select a school or work search experience for their users. We suggest you select the option that aligns with most of your users. -
AI - Edu licenses CoPilot/ChatGTP
robintech replied to Andycat's topic in AI in Education & Enterprise
used to work for us but now coming soon, works when logged out though Is there a source for this I can use when contacting support, closest I can find is the Copilot admin page which has "All users can use Microsoft 365 Chat" which might mean "Microsoft 365 Copilot Business Chat " although "use" isn't clear https://admin.microsoft.com/Adminportal/Home#/copilot/discover To be eligible to use a Copilot license, users must: Be assigned an eligible license type and have their devices enrolled in the Current or Monthly enterprise channel. Use a Microsoft Entra ID to sign in to their Microsoft account. Add or sync users to Microsoft Entra ID. All users can use Microsoft 365 Chat or the Copilot mobile app. -
AI - Edu licenses CoPilot/ChatGTP

copilot.microsoft.com used to work for us, now it says "coming soon" The Edge sidebar worked while signed into microsoft accounts, up until a few days ago but now says coming soon https://www.bing.com/chat - "Bing Chat is now Copilot" works if we are not signed into a microsoft account of any kind but you have to open an icognito window each time anyone else experiencing this? -
Trialling Verkada at our school and planning to run the old system side by side with it and gradually replace existing cameras when funds allow due to the high cost. Do like the Cloud based approach to storage, automated firmware updates with time windows, and SSO SAML/SIML for accounts so Entra controls the access through group membership, most importantly removes/adds people in about 15 minutes when they've left the group but are still employed at school. Quality seems normal for the resolution , one thing I didn't realise if you put a camera in Licence/Numberplate recognition that's all it can do, a black and white image zoomed in for reading numberplates, doesn't work as a normal camera like it can do with AI people and vehicle detection. Being able to add cameras to a playback and it syncs them up is useful but imagine other systems can do that easily. The AI free text search isn't very good at finding things but searching for a matching image to a person works well, delivery truck, van, DPD etc will bring up hundreds of cars and a ride on lawnmower for example.

as an aside I don't like they way they use svc.dynamics.com links in their emails which then expand and redirect to wherever

Anyone else got this, it opens the OneDrive window but its the normal webpage for OneDrive not the one where you can select files to attach Happening for all our teachers in edge and Chrome and we get the same issue at home on their own computers. Tried granting consent again for the App in Entra (although it already had Admin consent ) and no difference

We do the same but with Excel (for no particular reason), never seems to work with Word though -
Client-less way of checking what students type
robintech replied to enjay's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
seems a bit impossible and would capture passwords as well I assume. Only way I can think of is some kind of web based RDP service and keylogger running on that. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/remote/remote-desktop-services/clients/remote-desktop-web-client#what-youll-need-to-use-the-web-client For us the Smoothwall reports which show browser activity before and after a notification event with search terms through https interception is about as close as you can get. Searching for guns, guns in ww2 makes it more obvious what was happening -

There was surprisingly a HP Switch 5406zl (J8697A) firmware update on Oct 31, 2022 ( AOS-S Switch RA.16.04.0026 ) which is installed on ours, think it was purchased in 2006

OneDrive blocking filetypes / file extensions and Sync
robintech replied to robintech's topic in Cloud Services
Oh yes we have it blocked but wanted to either get rid of the Sync errors which will never resolve otherwise or maybe start allowing .exe files as might be an outdated block -
Is there a way to stop the errors for blocked file extensions for example with .exe files (please rename the item or remove it from your OneDrive) or to acknowledge them and is there a good reason to block .exe files ? The dangerous files all seem to be zipped or password protected zipped or a PDF file with a link to an exe, zip etc it seems correct to block them but they already exist locally or they wouldn't attempt to sync

Is the Online definitely Layout- Size -A4? as mine defaults to Letter from testing it just now and I was trying to find out how to override it, have everything as UK English from the browser , OS and Office regions and removed any USA but still seems to default to Letter

Don't have a bin they collect from, but on a normal lorry/van collection we use tech-recycle.com they take everything as long as we meet the minimum number of laptops, monitors, desktops etc. I always thought the point was they make a profit from it and in return take the stuff without any value. Even took about 150 3rd party toners and 100Kilo of cables

Ours just refreshes really fast and goes between office.com and https://login.microsoftonline.com/ in a loop
