  1. Played first couple of levels last night, initial thoughts are it looks good, and I can see the story coming together, I have a few reservations, but I'll see how it plays out. Not tried multiplayer or zombies yet. However given the content it really worries me how many students here will be playing it. Heard lots already in year 7 & 8 saying "oh yeah, mum has pre-ordered that for me"... It's an 18 for a reason FFS, what are these parents on!
  2. have a *hug* witch. So hows about. Boot the said laptop with Ubuntu USB/CD. Have another UB stick handy with CG Security's "Testdisk" (TestDisk - CGSecurity). Plug in, run from usb (you will find all the info in the wiki, and use a USB hard drive to save the resulting files to. Hope tomorrow goes ok, I'd blame the staff member personally, saving docs in C: - that's a no no.
  3. another vote here for @dwhyte85's suggestion of Testdisk, it's very good but you do need to specify some parameters for files to be recovered.
  4. Another good one is Incognito, which looks slightly more useable and is pretty much what "paranoid linux" is. Comes with TOR software and pgp all bundled into a KDE (I think) desktop.
  5. Well most places should be able to swap a tyre over in about 10mins, but I guess it all hinges on the repair speed once it is off. I'd allow 30mins to be safe.
  6. downloading now
  7. I get IDLE VANDAL .... well, I have been known to deconstruct a few things when I am bored.
  8. Back before I became a school tech I worked as a trainee gunsmith in a sporting goods store. Basically, fixing air-rifles/pistols and lots of airsoft. Found with a small mod a semi auto gas Uzi could be made full auto Also modified a paintball gun to fire 6mm BBs. Recorded about 800fps... ouchy.
  9. I've got one (starter pack). Now i want another controller and the sports game. The missus would like start the party. Think it's going to get a good workout come Christmas.
  10. I hope in to ICT lessons when the subject matter goes over the head of the teachers. I did have quite a large part to play in designing our schemes of work with the old HOD and now help the new one out. (Usually with HTML bits and Gimp in graphics). I'm paid as a tech and don't get any extra hours but everyone understands my primary role comes first and I'm just lending a hand. SLT are all happy so it's a win-win situation. Teacher stays in the class so no insurance issues.
  11. Just a thought, the handyman case may have had other factors like "gaining unauthorised access to a computer system" that had to be taken into account and added to the tariff.
  12. I reckon I'm on about 1:4, would nice to have a lower number, but limited on space, and budget.
  13. Just installed on mine, Teacher has seen my screen and said "How come you get windows 7 and we don't?" Even more impressed when I started doing the compiz cube... "Wow, I didn't know W7 could do that".
  14. Yup, just about 19mins, absolutely excellent, it's that "oh %$£&!!! moment.
  15. Cheers KermEd, up and running properly now.
  16. Had the brakes fail in a Bedford truck once, on the M11/M25 slip, not a great deal of fun that. Glad you're ok, good luck, hope you find a nice cheap fix.
  17. I've had this before, it's actually not bad as colas go. Still got one can unopened as a novelty.
  18. Never overlook the magical recovery powers of a linux live CD If you find something for free check it twice as much before deployment If you pay for "educational software" expect to get shafted Tell salesreps that if they call more that $num times in a $timeperiod then they get Blacklisted
  19. I'm using the sky player, and changed the code so it said I believe there's a similar bit on the BBC version, but I've not investigated.
  20. Well that's useful to know, sorry about that CHR1S.
  21. eerm, I had a thread about a proxy bypass site. It wasn't titled proxy or anything dodgy. But I have now modified the words concerned. Maybe you can get back in?
  22. Appeal, there's reams of legislation about how signs and roadmarkings must be displayed. Even down the the width of the paint stroke, if anything isn't right the ticket should not stand.
  23. Couldn't give a stuff about the football or the tennis, but others do. We have had an edict down from on high ordering us not to stream the football, so bog standard aerial it is then. All the kids into the gym to watch it at 3pm, hehe, it's going to be hot, noisy and smelly in there. Glad I'll be living in my A/C powered office
  24. Damn, googling this one blows it out of the water.. sorry guys. Woman says she became pregnant after watching porn in 3D
  25. Oh dear, maybe she was just so impressed with the 3DTV, so real you could smell it, feel it touching you, sliding your clothes off.... oh wait.. that's not the TV
