Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread, the quad got airborne tonight. He'll of a learning curve, and I'm still not clear on a few things, but very happy.

The LiPo's linked were examples/intended, not yet purchased. I'm considering my local model/hobby shop for that so I can get the right bits in one shot and support a local business. Marginally more expensive, but works out roughly same when shipping is included.

Cheers, an extra £30 still doesn't dent the price too much and I now have a choice of FC boards if required or can re-sell the KKM5.5. I'm looking forward to getting it all. I picked up a chilitech actioncam3 on Amazon's blackfriday last year, so I'm going to use that under slung for some quick and easy remote video.

Worked in a school for 3 years, enjoyed it, fantastic environment, now in private sector and loving that too. I may return to schools one day but for now the pay is much better here, and the working conditions are pretty good too.

I'm intolerant to wheat (found recently) which sucks because I love pizza. So sometimes I just go for it and ride out the consequences. I do the PizzaExpress club, £45/pa and you get a free pizza and drink voucher every 3 months, £10 for your birthday, £10 every time you get 10 stamps in a card and £10 4 times a year when you fill in an online survey. Works out as very worthwhile.

Saturday for me, school can't let me have time off as I'm getting sorted for leaving. Looking forward to going anyhow, and bring the O/H as she's a DT teacher and will be drooling over some of the shiny toys.

Well, I've just formally upset the SMT (and staff) here by handing in my notice having had a better offer. I'm staying in IT but going corporate rather than Edu (so I'll be around on here, just less - if that's possible). Quick question for the assembled masses of greatness, I'm currently using my last weeks to fully update my site bible, tidy my office and tie up any loose ends, but next week it's interviewing my replacement so I'm needing some quick easy ICT tasks to test them with. I'm thinking of a theory and practical part, So far Theory questions 1) PC POSTS but won't boot, what do you check? 2) What is DHCP? 3) What is DNS 4) How would you change a user's password in AD? (maybe practical?) Practical test 1) PC off a mains (not immediately obvious) why won't it turn on? (idiot filter) 2) Teacher having a smartboard/projector issue 3) Student can't login (network cable unplugged) Any comments / suggestions etc most welcome.

Linux Mint (all the major propriatary stuff preinstalled and a windows-ish look and feel) or Zorin Firefox OpenOffice Wine Gimp Inkscape Should do the trick mostly. There's a good article in this month's Linux Format about alternate OSs, some that may be worth testing out.

Downloading now for a while on a VM, looks like and interesting idea though and may be very useful for transitioning users.
