We got asked to stream it here, I said "no chance, it won't work", so will be rigging a HDRecorder/TV tuner through the gym projector. -
I've got one running here as a project for the incoming DT teacher (she wanted Dual booting Windows and *nix). Couldn't make it work in the Mint 9 install she requested but seems happy enough in Lucid Lynx. The pens and eraser work beautifully, but for some reason it grabs the mouse and chucks it top left of the screen, can't regain mouse control without unplugging the board. Very odd.

I've got insurance with orange for my desire, at £6/month it provides a little extra peace of mind. Plus if it does die for whatever reason I get a new one (well reconditioned) the next day.

Just finished Enders Game and now getting into Speaker for the Dead both by Orson Scott Card. Also read Little Brother by Cory Doctorowas a free PDF recently, must buy it as a proper book it was superbe.

Didn't we learn from "Event Horizon" what a bad idea messing around with bending space was. I'm not volunteering for the first jaunt to Proxima Centauri that's for sure.

Artificial gravity - simples It's all based on forces created. (stepping into scientific linguistics minefield here) centripital (? or is it centrifugal i'm after here) force can be used. So all you need to do is set up a big ring shaped space station spinning about a hub. The floor (inner part of the wheel) will experience a gravity like effect. Or so having just read Ender's Game leads me to believe, anyhow, I'm a tech not a physicist, what do I know.

so far a day trip to Duxford two 1week trips to France, one week skiing in Austria this year and I've got a week in Kent on an outward bound course coming up. Not being required on timetable is excellent.

In the IDLE, click "File > New window" Paste the script there and hit F5

aww, missed this yesterday, I was flying kites on the school field with the kite club, then straight into Ipswich for a CEOP course 6-10. Tonight I'm going sailing. -
Just knocked up this, so download and install python (if you haven't got it already) and paste this loop=1 import random while loop==1: foo=random.randint(0,2345674323) print foo, into a new file and run it.

@powdarrmonkey - should be ok surely, not running under any sort of su or elevated privileges, and it's just viewing right?

under linux (ubuntu/debian derivatives anhow) cat /dev/urandom works quite nicely, I tend to pull is when I see someone I don't want to deal with at the door and tell them I'm sorting a network crisis.

If it's not already install, get yourself a copy of gimp (sudo apt-get install gimp) Then load it and go into Edit > Preferences Click on "Input Devices" then Configure "Extended Input Devices" Find the tablet screen in the drop down list (may be listed as something wierd) and set the mode from disabled, to screen. You should now be able to draw in gimp. Worked for my Wacom tablet anyhow. Good luck. If you get that working and want to write to input text give "cellwriter" a whirl.

@srochford - I think you need to download the alternative installation CD, it's not available as an option on the normal live CD. Usually happen when something borks X or the graphics card is not/badly supported. So even if you get a text installer, you may still get a broken display.

Server 2003 here with all Xp clients. I'm looking towards more Linux integration but it's a spare time (I know.. what's that?) think rather than a development priority.

It's a Dell Optiplex 360, 2GB RAM Intel Core2Duo @ 2.5GHz The boot would be quicker if I could get the bios sorted and type my password faster.

Just installed and configured, had a bit of a 'mare with the themes as I kept my /home partition coming over from mint9. All sorted now, and wow. I'll have to get used to it again, but the sub 30second boot to desktop is awesome. Most of that is just bios checking itself.... now how do I cut that time down.

+1 for private experience. It's the best way. I had probably 3-4x more hours private driving than I did tuition. To be honest only two of my friends from 6th form did intensive courses, and compared to the conventional route were less proficient drivers. Then again they went from zero - pass in the week.
