What's the general feeling on Edugeek now about IE11 - we blocked IE10, is the recommendation to also block IE11 or is it going to be ok with proxies etc?

Well done you Gareth. As a now knee knackered retired runner I have total respect for you and hope you achieve the goal of being selected for the boot camp. I used to really love my running, wasn't so keen on pavement / road but a good cross country couldn't be bettered for brightening the day.

As server installs aren't something I have done at all I swear by getting Kevin Carter from Capita in to do the job. He will spec the kit you need and goes the extra mile to ensure it's just as you want and need it.

Mini Mac Server - Can't access Workgroup Manager Local
speckytecky replied to speckytecky's topic in Mac
Thanks for your prompt answer @3s-gtech What sort of issues could advise by doing a password reset please? -
I'd welcome the Muppet guide as well please Ben.

You are not alone fair @witch please share any 'idiot's guide you develop with little 'old' me as I'm a fair few steps behind you!

I'm logged on with an Admin Account to our Mini Mac Server trying to add some new Macs to the Workgroup Manager: local but the padlock is locked and when I try to unlock it with any of our Admin account log on's it won't unlock? That's the /LDAPv3/IP ADDRESS one.

That'll be the one. However as I wasn't in today I left them with the MTV link for access through the staff proxy. Now wether they managed it or not I no not but will no doubt be told if I passed or failed on Monday:rolleyes:

Anyone got a legit link that works for the Children in Need theme by Ellie Goulding. We apparently want to run it in our Assembly tomorrow. SWGfL area.

Any recommendations for a music programme - preferably low cost or free - for Windows please? I know about Sibelius but this isn't for exam work more for our Emotionally Disturbed KS3 Boys to explore.

Doh me! Got my upload and download transposed. The beauties of being dyslexic!! Average seems to be about: Upload: 37.30 mbps Download: 9.26 mbps We have about 140 workstations but rarely more than 20 on at a time. We did recently allow U-Tube for teachers but have clamped down on the lads accessing it in classrooms where they were abusing it.

Sorted - I hadn't unlocked the Admin Padlock setting, just me being fik!

On the client I'm trying to set the date / time pick up to the IP address of the DC but it's greyed out?
-
Maverick on the client the previous version currently on the Mini Mac Server.

How come the Mac Book Air I'm currently setting up persists in picking up a time that's definitely the. sext part of 20 minutes on from the real time. Therefore, it won't play properly with the Windows domain through the mini Mac Server we run? Probably glaringly obvious but I can't see it for the life of me!

Our Art Teacher uses a Mac Notebook and since updating her OS to Maverick she has been sporadically unable to open Safari when at school. Both Wifi and Ethernet settings are OK and I can't see any obvious reason why she is having this issue?

Smart Unifi 55 image speckled ...

Yep totally agree with @synaesthesia - just had one gone the same way. Totally annoying as the bulb had just been replaced. Replaced it with a nice Hitachi unit supplied by Mike Hunchliffe at Misco fitted by Matthew Bray Audio Visual of Newbury. Totally satisfied, Misco delivered it the day after we ordered it and Matthew fitted it perfectly in an extremely difficult location for a very reasonable price. The quotes I had for a sort of like for like replacement from elsewhere were a shed load higher than what we ended up paying. -
What a total pain - why oh why, do Microsoft persist in rolling out totally unwanted and seemingly at best poorly tested updates? I have IE10 blocked currently, suppose it's going to be necessary to block 11 as well. Still having irregular issues with IE9 failing to pick up the proxy proxy. Grrr!

I'm with @witch - not finding this at all straightforward and deadly worried if and when the time comes to migrate our accounts to O365. I can think of 4 of our staff who would be big time peed off if their treasured folders and contents vanished - my card would be big time marked for redundancy I reckon;)
-
I SO sympathyse with you @witch I'm in the same boat! I often have calls when I'm not - I don't mind if it's a genuine issue but sometimes I'm left speechless!!

We recently completed a change over to Fiber To The Cabinet through SWGfL (which I understand is actually ISP provided by Talk Talk). First day of serious use yesterday and howls of protest greeted me when I came in this morning. Was this a blip or is FTTC not the answer I wonder? Any other SWGfL area schools care to share their experiences please?
