Hi All, Just after some architecture advice to get my facts straight.. Scenario: 2 new buildings 1 lower school 1 higher school as part of new MAT development. Both buildings near each other but not on same site. Question: Should each building have it's own data cable rather than share the same one? My reason's for keeping it separate: Have own network? if one school loses connectivity doesn't affect the other?, failover provision ie could have 2 data cables to each school and one can act as failover to the other? ( although not sure about this one as the provider would be the same so technically, if provider is down, its down for all) New to this sort of thing so any thoughts and information much appreciated Thanks in advance

Hi, I did that for one of the users (following advice on a mac thread) but that didn't fix the issue straight away. So it seems to be re -install Chrome, clear browsing data and several reboots. But this doesn't guarantee a permanent fix it seems.. We use GAFE - I have administrative rights to all of it... Should I be looking in there? We use macbooks for staff and windows laptops for support staff - only the macbooks having this issue.. Thanks for reply

Hi, I'm having a strange random , occurrences of users names showing as troller daemon instead of the user who sent the job. On the web browser for the printer RIP - the name comes up as game controller. Everywhere else the user name is correct - ie signing in to the AD bound Mac , Papercut etc. Things that have changed : rebuilt all macs to El Capitan and did updates . So far , to resolve the issue I've re installed Chrome, cleared browsing data and done a minimum of 3 reboots for it to show the name again. Know it's a browser issue as doesn't happen with Safari. But as we are a GAFE school that is not really an option as everything we do is google chrome based. Any ideas? TIA

Hi, Does anyone know how to ( or whether it is possible ) to do the following: I have renamed a user in Windows 2012 AD (username was correct , but description of lastname was spelt wrong so changed it. The users macbook is joined to the AD - I took it off and rejoined it, but the username is still showing the old spelling. Any tips / ideas on how I can change this without re creating the user from scratch? thanks

Really frustrating this one [emoji21].. did a network scan using Fing and nothing .. wondering now if the switch has changed subnet mask somehow.. we are on 255.255.240.0 ... strange things happening on network so really need to find the ip of this make sure it's ok..

I'm hoping to strike a happy medium - as I do enjoy the sessions - and yes - I can give a different perspective on things. However, I have stated that I'm not trained teacher so planning would be out of my skill range - but happy to provide support.

Hi @Rob_D - I believe I do know which switch it is - quite high up in a small cab with next to no access to the back of it :-/.. Would a reboot of the switch be a good idea?...

Hi, I'm in the process of working through switches and putting them to static.Today however, I seem to have lost the ability to ping and access a HP switch via web browser. I reserved the IP address and on DHCP it is showing as having that IP address ( matching the description I gave it) but no access. Would really appreciate any advice on how to locate the switch and / or re gain web access... TIA

Used to use Clonezilla till I was introduced to MDT.. I used to do whole disk so needed to make an image of every type of computer - including different size hard disks. There is an option to do parts but always struggled to make this work. Works from server - ie image on a shared drive ( specific path required) and push out over wired network. ( but will still need USB s to initiate the initial run of Clonezilla )

last few weeks users have started mentioning that they are not getting all of the G+ notifications via email and are missing out on important news. Anybody else experiencing this ?

I got a large haul- but mostly pens and notebooks etc... never seem to get a cable tester or tool kit :-/ lol. However , edugeek mug and lanyard , VR headset ( where you slot in your own phone) , phone charger, and fluffy toy were pick of the crop... @dhicks - did you check out the Oddessy stand? They are doing headset, device, headphones and remote - just under £5000 for a set of 30? Finding content may be the only drawback for that but then again I haven't looked properly yet..
