IT curriculum planning/ teaching
Stormborn15 replied to Stormborn15's topic in Learning Network Manager
Thanks for the feedback everyone.. I'm currently supporting the teaching - because it's new software... so in lessons every morning - but hoping to fall back over time... falling behind on network stuff... -
Just wondering how much (as a one man NM in a large school) you get involved in planning / teaching IT lessons ?
-
Am thinking of delving into CCNA and doing the exam. Anybody have a kit bundle they no longer use and would be willing to sell on ?

No sure if this is the right place to post so move if needed :-) So, just started happening ... Can't seem to copy and paste images from a Word to Google docs/slides ( all on a mac) Have tried the usual clearing browsing data, re booting both apps, checking for Updates on Office for mac etc... Anybody else experiencing this?.. TIA

Thank you for confirming my thoughts... I think somehow in the switchover ( where we changed the subnet mask as well to get more IP's ) the switches have somehow gone to dhcp... I will work through and make them static .. will I need to reboot the switches after? Planning to keep the same number they have now to keep things simple...
-
Since we changed our ISP - just noticing bits and pieces - one of those being our switches are showing up on DHCP... not entirely sure , but I don't recall seeing them before and don't know if they were previously set to static within a the 'not available for distribution ' range... So should they be set to static? Gut feel says yes.. any feedback appreciated. TIA [emoji4]

We're a very heavy user of GAFE. Everything is on Google Drive. Noticing lately that google chrome pages and especially drive can take a very long time to load. Broadband download speeds are extremely good - so don't think it is a Broadband issue... I've googled several things I'm going to try out tomorrow , but any experiences and how you resolved it would useful. Ps - accessed via wireless devices. TIA

Oh @witch... that must be so hard [emoji53]... we humans are (generally) social creatures - comraderie (sp) in the workplace goes a long way... also, just getting recognition for the all the schlepping we do from one support call to another while spinning (in my case at least) a dozen other short term/ long term/ network stability/ learning, research and self taught CPD etc etc plates spinning... Elsie , I am going to BETTS - will try and pop by ! [emoji106]🏼- 4,289 replies

Thanks guys. I work at such a large school - 100 staff across 2 sites- and everyone seems to be in either established or natural teams. When I have time for lunch I try and vary it between the 3 staffrooms. I'm a generally chatty , smiley person and will talk to everyone . I guess it's especially round this time of year ( and end of summer term) when I feel forgotten :-/ ... beginning to sound a bit whiny lol! But - yes , will carry on being friendly and helpful . Also not having anyone to vent with / celebrate with when a techy thing goes worse/better than expected etc... hoping edugeek will help fill that gap ... :-) On a really plus side - really do love my job and pretty am trusted to just get on with it ...- 4,289 replies

Hi @witch ! Thank you :-). How do you teams of one cope with being pretty much forgotten about - especially when 'team ' events are going on and nobody thinks to ask you? Or do you prefer to be on the periphery? ...- 4,289 replies
