Use groups to control access to folders rather than assigning individual users, this can be controlled form within AD then you can also see who has access to what quite easily. We used to have just 2 shares for data, one been Shared Data and other been user home directories. Within Data would be departments, enabled anyone who needed access to do it from one common place rather than mapping different shares for different things. We did create a separate systems share with folders under for any systems that needed to host data as such on the server. Just had a look back at some notes and this is how we set the permissions:

Can a route be put in place for your MIS that totally bypasses any filtering for the destination so anyone as such can get to that without the filtering coming into effect?

Yes I am aware that I can login to 365 and use features but this is for my own personal work and want my work/personal life kept totally separate. There are things I work on outside of work that are of confidential nature and I cannot run any risk of the two been linked anywhere.

Don't have that benefit. Think I'm going to go down the 365 route for Office.

I need a quote for Windows 10 Pro for use at home if someone can quote me, can PM details over if any supplier can do so, if so please post. Also need license for Office, I am a current Office 365 user for email only. I need Outlook and Access on PC, what is my best solution these days? Looking to purchase Office as a one time cost seems expensive compared to the 365 offerings, I'm still using 2010 at home but need to upgrade.

I'm guessing your in the area of Robin Hood Airport, if so might be worth a look at Quickline, they have coverage in the area and it might be quicker than waiting for Openreach!

I would recommend Sage but this might be of use to you. Many now communicate with HMRC which they never used to so might be worth looking at rather than a manual process.

If you delete it from the mail icon in Control Panel and create a new one there shouldn't be any issue. I've done that for hundreds of users over the past 10+ years. What mail server are you connecting to? Local or hosted exchange? Try disabling cached mode, something I often tend to do on desktop PC's and it will give you a live view.

If that was the case when why does it scan if its in the root of the C drive rather than on the desktop? The copier does communicate just not to a folder say shared from the desktop.

Have a look at the UAP-AC-PRO that is what I've got at home and would roll out anywhere. As for cloud key I wouldn't waste your money, not heard good reviews, just install the software on a server you already have and be done with it. I am looking at putting mine on a Pi at home just for the sake of it. Yes they come with a fixing plate there is a plastic one for ceilings or a metal one for use with ceiling tiles, a couple of screws and away you go.

Bit of an odd one yesterday, just wondered if anyone had seen it before. Number of Windows 10 desktops, not domain, just local users, works fine in the office they are in. Shared a folder on the desktop to enable MFD to scan to it, shared and set permissions as I always would, it would not work. Created a folder on the root of the C drive, set permissions and allowed user to modify with it been on the root and it worked ok. Have I missed something? Path used to scan was \\pcname\scans username and password specified as needed.

What about setting in GPO not to remember the last user, and use the CTRL ALT DEL prompt would this not work?

On my O365 I have an account pulling in mail from another source (ISP webmail), MS have discontinued this feature to add new accounts and it was supposed to stop earlier the year but appears to be still working. My issue is I want to remove this account been synced into this mailbox, any ideas how I can remove this as the option in O365 just tells you they have removed this feature!!

Thanks, how did you decide which colour key (this one is MX brown) was best for you or did you just buy the keyboard without looking at that?

They don't last forever, go down the local bed shop and try a few out, that the best way I found when I was looking. I must admit the memory foam ones are nice but I tried a few others out and settled with the one I have.

I am just finalising my new build and want to replace my keyboard and mouse, looking for a mechanical keyboard, the Cherry MX keys seem to be popular, can anyone recommend any full sized keyboards with number pad, no a gaming one please? Also looking to replace my probably 20 year old MS Optical Mouse, one of the original ones. Again after full sized not fussed about extra buttons 2 and wheel will do. Thanks
