Hi @Steve21 I do have a user in AD called CAUGwyrCyp93dqu but not CAUGwyrCyp9 - don't recall every seeing one there. Would you advise setting up the cluster aware updating again? As mentioned - I didn't do this and the CAU seems to be reporting as working fine. Cheers Gareth

The two HyperV machines were built as 2012R2. In fact I was just wondering whether upgrading them to 2016 would help but thought better of it. Gareth

Hiya @NB9457 - My apologies. All of our high availability machines are running on a SAN. A HP2000 which is linked via a switch to the nodes. We couldnt' afford fibre channels when we purchased the servers but it is running through a gbit Cisco switch There are one or two test VMs running but these are stored on the local device and are deleted when they are not needed. The VMs have been running for ages but do get restarted every now and again when windows updates go through. The one I started earlier has been up for 15 hours as I restarted it yesterday to see if it made a difference. Hope my notes make sense, Gareth

On our cluster I am getting the following error: Clustered role 'CAUGwyrCyp9' has exceeded its failover threshold. It has exhausted the configured number of failover attempts within the failover period of time allotted to it and will be left in a failed state. No additional attempts will be made to bring the role online or fail it over to another node in the cluster. Please check the events associated with the failure. After the issues causing the failure are resolved the role can be brought online manually or the cluster may attempt to bring it online again after the restart delay period. Now I didn't set this stuff up, but this error has been there for a while and it appears on both HyperV nodes. I cannot find any reference to CAUGwyrCyp9 at all - anywhere. I've looked under Roles and it's not there. There is nothing in the AD, there is nothing on either server. Yet HyperV still seems to be looking for it. The error above is preceeded by: The Cluster service failed to bring clustered role 'CAUGwyrCyp9' completely online or offline. One or more resources may be in a failed state. This may impact the availability of the clustered role. Where and what is it? There is another error related to it: Cluster resource 'GwyrCAU' of type 'Distributed Network Name' in clustered role 'CAUGwyrCyp9' failed.Based on the failure policies for the resource and role, the cluster service may try to bring the resource online on this node or move the group to another node of the cluster and then restart it. Check the resource and group state using Failover Cluster Manager or the Get-ClusterResource Windows PowerShell cmdlet Any help for this HyperV amateur would be appreciated. Thanks all Gareth

Morning All, I come with the first HyperV issue of the day. When clicking on a virtual machine it is slow accessing. It opens the window and stays black for about 10-20 seconds before the virtual machines logon screen appears. Is there any way I can speed this up? Have I missed a setting? Issue 2 in another thread. Yes I've tried that. I downloaded the licensed version as emailed by Adobe. I've decompressed it as outlined by Adobe and then created an admin install point - all as instructed. Then I try and put the .msp file in and it fails. So somewhere I am doing something wrong. Gareth

Hi All, Does anyone have a primer for slipstreaming Adobe Reader DC updates into the base update? I've been trying all day and simply cannot find the notes I made in 2015. So I've basically forgotten. I have the AcroRead.msi and an msu file for the latest enterprise download, but I cannot for the life of me slipstream it in to create a new admin installation point. Cheers @colly72 - this is what I've been working on today. Just putting the basics in place using WAMP and Wordpress - no design, just making sure the structure works and can be accessed over the school network as an intranet page. Once I'm happy this works and staff can choose what they want etc etc then I'll start jazzing it up. Thanks for your advice though - some interesting stuff to look at. As it's internal only for now, I'm looking at putting in the plugin that lets us authenticate against our AD. That should be pretty cool. Gareth

The other year someone posted a link on here to a daily announcements server installation that used mySQL etc etc. Staff could log in and post to the board. Then their browser homepage was set to the intranet page and staff could filter the daily annoucements. Anyone remember it? Otherwise - can anyone recommend a Wordpress template for this? Afternoon all, When making an image for our WIndows 7 machines we download Office 2016 Pro Plus from the MS licensing site. It get's installed and it works. However there seems to me issues with version numbers when comparing software such as OneNote etc etc. A member of staff has asked why we cannot have Office 365 Pro Plus on the network instead (a know it all). So that got me thinking - is there a volume license version of Office 365? Or is it meant to be a single user installation. Why is there such a difference between 2016 on the licensing site and Office 365 which users can download via office.com and O365? Thanks Gareth

Random question this morning as Mrs E and I plan our future house extension. We have a garage (oooo get us), and it lets water in so I might rebuild it - but then think - does anyone actually use their garage to park their car or simply as a junk store? Mine is a junk store. I'm toying with the idea of knocking it down and just building a small shed instead to store my bikes and little bits of tools etc. Do people still need or use garages/ Gareth

Different in Swansea - we have been told be have to use it. All our staff and pupil email has been migrated. Of course the driving factor was Lindsay Harvey (hwb) became our Education Executive on the Council and so pushed it. A lot of us were against it but he managed to secure the Headteacher buy in.

HI mate - From what I gather the whole of Wales will be pushed to Hwb and everyone will have to use it. I have heard that Hwb won the contract for the National Tests - so make of that what you want. We have our own tenancy but have been forced along the Hwb tracks - it's ok to be honest and no different to Office 365 on our own tenancy - just without the control. Gareth

The Office 365/Axure tenancy that we are part of does not have Intune. I'm happy to jump to WIndows 10 if this direct access is possible to link back to our GPOs. Can you tell me more?

Hi Steve, The situation is - we have our own domain. Each user has an account on this domain. Their work is stored on our main server. All is good. In Wales - everyone has what is called a Hwb account. Different username and password. We have been asked to migrate all of our files to OneDrive which we are given as part of this Office 365 tenancy. It means users have to remember two sets of passwords/two usernames etc. What I want is to use one username/password combo to log into Hwb so that users can access their work without a second logon. A sort of SSO - however all of our GPOs are kept on the local domain. Did that make sense? Gareth

Okay - so what about a windows 10 machine that picks up it's account from an Azure/Office 365 domain but it's GPOs - like printers and mapped drives from a local DC (as we do not have ITfE)? Morning All, Wondering which forum to put this into - but basically a question to those schools that operate a BYOD system for either all pupils in the school or just for Sixth formers. We are looking at it but the LEA are worried about safeguarding - this is despite pupils being able to go outside and access information via their mobile phones. What systems (if any) have you put in place to ensure your BYOD system is safe, secure and covers safeguarding. The funny thing is, people have been asked to provide a list of issues that they are worried about but are failing to do so. SO if anyone has a list, or links to research then that would be great. I'll start searching the web later but to save re-inventing the wheel, I'm sure some schools/LEAs have already thought about the issues that could arise and may have lists/policies etc. Many thanks Gareth

Good evening all, As I work on next years academic timetable I have been passed the data file from the Headteacher who originally edited it in T4. Now the weirdest thing is showing up and I seem to have orphan courses. If I go to Timetable>New>Classes without Rooms I get the screenshot which I have attached. As you can see in the picture there is a course Si-12-C3- That course isn't running. It isn't even in the Model, the Classes or the Blocks. Where would it have been stored? HT says it's a 'glitch' between systems. It's doing my OCD no good and I need to remove it. Can anyone help? Cheers Gareth

That is correct. The LEA hold the AD centrally and despite asking, we were always told that SCCM couldn't be installed by us as the AD needed to be updated. I trusted that of course. So we have our own MDT server and our own WSUS server - both of which are my babies lOL. I set them up, I've configured them, I've taight myself how to use then and keep them working etc etc. We have a solution that works - but isn't SCCM an improvement? Doesn't it offer more for me? Well - last month they put a policy on my OU that updated our whole school. More like they do not trust us with stuff - yet we are ahead of them on so many things. Annoys me how they do what they want when they want but tell us their support stops when the network enters the school. Gareth
