1. Hi Gribbo, Unfortunately in SIMS 7, there is no way to quickly add formulas of any sort. However most people starting out with Assessment Manager don't always do things in the most efficient way, so what are you trying to do and why do you think it'll take 150 formulas? (e.g. if the formulas are the same 30 on 5 different sheets except for their inputs, then it may be quicker to clone one master one)
2. In SIMS go to "Tools | Setups | Behaviour Management | Behaviour Type" and make sure at least 1 type has a yes in the "Include in register" column. Then when a teacher uses it, the system will record which lesson register it was generated from and thus a time and location.
3. Make them do it by right click in the register then all those fields get filled in automatically. Other than that, you can't make fields mandatory.
4. Are there any errors in the SIMS Service Manager for the "SIMS Online Services Client" for today that would prevent synchronisation between your SIMS DB and the cloud?
5. Assuming you use NOVA-T then alternative curriculum has been used by some of our schools for this purpose.
6. Assuming you are not using Dinner Money (as that adds an extra level of complication), you need to manually remove any information from the staff record you wish to delete, then alter the name of the record to be the same as the record you wish to merge it with (another option to merging with a current user is to rename them all DoNotUse and merge them all in to 1), put zz in front of the forename of the record you wish to delete then run patch 18632 (there are instructions and a DBDiagnosis script to go with that patch that I'd reccomend using). Make sure you get the 15/01/2018 version of the patch which is available on SOLUS3 If the person you are trying to get rid of has more roles than staff and user then there are other patches/procedures you can go through to remove these roles.
7. If you want to delete staff who have a login you just need to merge them (after deleting all their data that you can) with another member of staff who has a login too. I've done it for dozens of staff records at once, usually merging them into our support account or the head teacher's account in SIMS. The notes from Capita aren't exactly intuitive as we've had to piece together dozens of documents and KB articles to figure out how to deal with duplicate people and getting rid of old people in SIMS.
8. Unfortunately not, as we had CApita do the installation and they didn't leave anything about how they did things, also they don't have any public facing documents about setup on MyAccount. They just gave us the encryption keys and told us to keep them safe and secure and we'd need them when doing SQL migrations etc. All I can find on MyAccount is https://myaccount.capita-cs.co.uk/hot-topics/sims-slg/ which states "Getting started - SIMS Learning Gateway installation and set-up is completed by Capita SIMS."
9. Capita do support SQL Server encryption as they mandate it if you are self hosting SLG and is also when using the Active Directory Provisioning Service
10. I've looked on one of our schools servers and it has SSM Version: 1.4.6.39 and there are no update packages to download so I assume .39 is later than the .4 version in their manual downloads section.
11. According to Capita's download page (MyAccount login required) the latest version available for customers is SSM Version 1.4.6.4
12. SIMS does not have the functionality to record any house points, it only has the functionality to record individual student's achievement points. You can either get a 3rd party product that does house points or you can fudge SIMS by creating a guest pupil with the name of the house and a date of birth a long time ago (e.g. 1/1/1900) so if it does accidentally get on to some report it will be obvious it shouldn't be there. This is very much a fudge and will cause some anomalies and thus not recommended, but it is how some schools have chosen to get around the issue.
13. I'm glad they managed to squeeze this one in before the code cut off deadline for the Spring release, it's something a few of our schools have wanted for a while.
14. From the document referenced above "if you have already onboarded with SIMS Online Services. Onboarding is a one-off process." (and paraphrasing the next bit as it is a little bitty) if you haven't onbaroded yet then log a call with your SIMS support. I'd advise doing this with plenty of time before you want to use any of the online services SIMS Parent Lite included as there has been a 2 week backlog and this is before they launch a free app to every customer.
15. You already can, capita have updated their install guide (MyAccount login required) to include the Lite version too (First document on the list)
16. The default for capita.simslabs.clients.management.Configuration.json simply contains More gets added to it as you install and configure things
17. If you are a school using a timetable then yes it is done through NOVA's mapping to the times of the day. If you are a school who don't use a timetable for lessons then the setting will be editable in a 2018 upgrade of SIMS according to their roadmap. (Note that is for SIMS, I am assuming the Teacher App get's its setting from SIMS)
18. that folder contains the dictionary so if the school has amended anything related to the dictionary in SIMS, then re-creating it this way will re-set those customisations.
19. Did you try the fix to the Document Management Server suggested in the blog post? I'd be interested to know if it works
20. Reading that error from the top down it suggest the clients are having an issue interacting with encrypted documents in the Document Management server. Can those workstations successfully run attendance reports and standard SIMS.net reports?
21. MyAccount has an item about this KB405253 N and O do not show in the Resolve Conflicting Lesson Marks Routine Main Product:Lesson Monitor 7Additional Products:Created:27 Jun 2014, 09:37Last Updated:18 Aug 2017. 15:51

KB405253 N and O do not show in the Resolve Conflicting Lesson Marks Routine

KBA-454545-G8S6R3

Description

Routines | Lesson Monitor | Resolve Conflicting Lesson Marks When a student has both an N and O code entered in the same cell they do not show in the Resolve Conflicting Lesson Marks Routine.

WorkAround

Solution

This is expected behaviour. 22. I've seen something similar with NOVA where UAC was the culprit.
23. From the Options Online User Guide (MyAccount login required)
24. Capita's roadmap for 2018 has in it "Addition of the ability to import data into User Defined Fields", though it hasn't made it into the Spring release they seem to be roughly adding them in the order published so hopefully it will be in Summer.
25. You don't have to re-build your report every time, just clone it, show hidden characters and find/replace the dates.
