Synology 16TB Diskstation 220+ using their free Active Backup for Google Workspace / Office 365. Best £500 I think I have ever spent.

This should be the first building block the DfE look at. While WiFi 6 and Multi Gig switches a great, when it's all hanging off a wet piece of string FFTC circuit, what is the point? In the same boat as timbo343 with a primary school that was built only 15 years ago having to stump up for eye watering ECCs as a 40/10 connection just isn't fit for purpose.

There's your problem.

Setting up Android devices for a primary school
SomeITBloke replied to TwistedHelixis's topic in Cloud Services
Android management was a hot mess even when Google actively 'supported' the Nexus 7/10s with their Android Education Device Management solution. Chrome OS tablets are a much better bet. -
Have used these in the past, but look like they are out of stock - https://www.zandparts.com/en/acer-nk-i111s-08u Another option maybe, can't vouch for them though. https://spares2repair.co.uk/acer-notebook-keyboards-keyboard-black-uk

Google Admin - No one knows how to access!
SomeITBloke replied to DalekSec's topic in Cloud Services
If email is via 365, could you carry out a search for any google workspace related emails. Could point you in the right direction of the account getting admin alerts etc? Or from Google https://toolbox.googleapps.com/apps/recovery/form -
Seeing as schools will have a scheme of delegation, it goes without saying that someone will need to confirm best value and authorise your orders, at least you only have a finance manager. Have been in places where it goes Head > BM > Finance Assistant before a PO is raised. As for dept budget, just code orders accordingly and pass onto the budget holder.

Found this when went to renew a few years ago, price increase was ridiculous. Managed to get a few updates under the licence before it was no longer valid. Currently v13 and still deploys everything I need (W11 Endpoints)

If you plan to make any use any features such as Kyocera custom boxes etc the you'll need to use their Type-3 KX drivers. Also check the Engineers have used the most up-to-date drivers -
Has anyone federated from Google Workspace to Azure AD?
SomeITBloke replied to TwistedHelixis's topic in Cloud Services
Once setup When you add a new user to Google Workspace a user is automatically created in Office 365 / AAD. When you attempt to login to MS using this new email you'll get redirected to Google to sign in and then sent back to Microsoft all authenticated. Being a Google first school, I'm setting up for the same reasons you are. Just need t get some Intune licences now. -
Has anyone federated from Google Workspace to Azure AD?
SomeITBloke replied to TwistedHelixis's topic in Cloud Services
And in typical IT fashion, in returning to the issue I have managed to fix the issue. In the initial setup I had used our custom schema MisId in Google as the ImmutableID. Instead I created a schema AzureAD, field ImmutableID and set the UPN as the ImmutableID I changed the O365 AAD user ImmutableID to the UPN and SSO now works. -
Has anyone federated from Google Workspace to Azure AD?
SomeITBloke replied to TwistedHelixis's topic in Cloud Services
Interested in this too. Started looking into this a month or so ago. Managed to get it so Google Workspace federated with an O365 tenancy. New Google Workspace users show up in the O365 tenancy. When you sign in at O365 you get redirected to Google to sign in. But then when it goes to send you back to O365 I get the following So if anyone has any ideas that would be great. -
School have lost access to their 365 tenant
SomeITBloke replied to tmoon-mint's topic in Cloud Services
Could try Office 365 support (0)344 800 2400 . I would imagine you would have to confirm your the school in question, either via headed paper or a call to the school via the information held on the DfE website. Then possibly confirm you won the domain in question via DNS txt record. I'd also try you OV-ES, EES, CSP reseller -
You can just pop a dash between the t & u into any url like so https://www.yout-ube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ Will open the youtube-nocookie.com version of the video which plays full screen with no ads.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the drive properties for R: just display the size of the Network Drive and not the Share? For example if your home directories are on another shared, but on the same server drives, will be included.

This was some time ago but was just some that came on a roll from ESPO at the time. Used in an IT suite (Primary), these were the stands and they were all in the same place after 8 years of use. They did sit a little proud, but not that you'd notice. Nothing to loose giving it a try and less destructive than screws.

How do I add Android Devices to 'company owned devices' in Gsuite?

What edition are you using? You'll need Enterprise endpoint management which is Education Standard and Education Plus, not Fundamentals -

New KCSIE recommendation: Social Media checks on candidates
SomeITBloke replied to RLR's topic in How do you do....it?
How do you plan to identify the correct social media profiles? Are you going ask from them as part of the application form? How will you check / know they have given you the correct ones? Say they do give you the profile details, how will you see anything if they have privacy settings enabled? Imagine trawling through the likes of Facebook, YouTube ,Instagram ,TikTok ,Snapchat ,Pinterest ,Twitter ,Reddit ,LinkedIn ,Forums(s) for each canditate. Can of worms.
