When i previously looked into network adapters there was only one lenovo one that would work with certain Lenovos and BIOS. This may have changed since though.

We will soon have a ton of laptops returned to us from being loaned out. They will need rebuilding and we would like to use our SCCM and one of our Task Sequences. The issue being the laptops don't have network ports. I don't believe a ethernet adapter will work. I have tried using the bootable media options in SCCM but this fails when it tries to run with partitioning error. Is this doable, and if so how? Cheers for any help.

We have a mostly windows environment with about a 100 macs. We did have the macs running Papercut like we do on our windows machines but had to remove it as it was causing us so many problems with print speed and having to have users authenticate jobs several times to make sure they were charged.

We occasionally get this. Deleting the machine from SCCM and re-adding it usually sorts the problem.

That was just for iOS management. And yes, the topics you mentioned we could do ourselves. No more training modules, just the jumpstart. When I queried this with a JAMF representative, it wasn't even topics as advanced as those above. It was the real basic stuff that we have already set up in profile manager.

We are moving away from Profile manager and going to Mosyle. We wanted JAMF but we had to pay for a compulsory "jumpstart" which was £5.6k. All of which was simple set up tasks that we could easily do. ....We did not proceed with the order.

Hi We're looking at moving on from Profile manager as it looks like Apple are going to drop it at any moment. I've investigated jamf and tried to get a trial of the mdm along with an education quote. I've received the quote, but they include a £5.6k 3 day setup fee for someone to visit the site and help us get set up. I've queried this cost and whether or not it can be passed on, which it can't. Yet when I look through the tasks that will be carried out, its stuff we've already done for our current set up, I.e opening ports, making device groups, setting up VPP etc... I have configured multiple mdm's before, as have my colleagues, yet we are not "Jamf trained" and so cannot get past this. Has anyone managed to get around this cost and if not can recommend an MDM that manages iOS and Mac devices appropriate for an education environment? Cheers

I have set up profile manager and configurator for all our iPads to use which works perfectly for our requirements. For Android we have used Meraki and Comodo and both don't entirely suite our needs. We want it to deploy apps remotely and install them and updates automatically. Is anyone using a free mdm that does all this?

I'm thinking of doing the same for our site using Open Media Vault. May be worth looking into if you are looking to backup more.

We have used Comodo. It seems similar to meraki and is free so may be worth a look.

Is there any update on the Mac deployment guide? Or even a properly packaged version? We use munki on site and could deploy a previous version with no issues (after I had run it through a package creation tool) But this new version will not work through this method, or when we attempt to apply some post-install scripts to the package So currently we have none of our macs running Net support DNA.

Saw this thread yesterday and have just tried rebuilding one of our iPads and we are getting the same issue. iPad is rebuilt in configurator 2 which installs the enrollment and trust profiles, then profile manager takes over and installs the apps. All third party apps install as expected automatically. All the Apple apps don't install. This is using 11.0.2. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.

They vary in age but i'd say the ones with the most problems are around that age. When I spoke to Apple it sounde like it was the first time they were hearing about it.

We have an issue where our Macs (a mixture of iMacs and Mac Minis) randomly "loose" their keyboards. They're connected up but for some reason will just loose connection to the keyboard. This seems to happen on the login screen. The only way we have found of fixing this is by swapping the keyboard with another with works half of the time. The keyboards themselves are fine and not broken. I have tried troubleshooting this with apple and they have no idea on how to sort this. Macs are running the latest version of Sierra. Has anyone else experienced this?

Have you configured the iPads to be supervised? This locks down more of the settings. I had the same problem at first. i had to reset them all in apple configurator and prepare them as Supervised.

There's a setting in profile manager under Restrictions that you can un-check to disable Erase all Content and Settings.

I believe I now have it working by changing the server url. I will leave it running for a while to make sure it is working.
