Well I have done a search and the only posts I can find are people with the same issue that have ended up leaving Solus3 running on the older version of SQL, which cant be right. Someone must have migrated Solus3 to a new version of SQL at some point.

All the schools I look after have about 300 / 600 pupils and I removed all the redundancy (extra servers etc) in favour of a good backup / restore. Being able to restore a vm in a few hours is good enough for a school of that size and removes a lot of complex issues that might arise. In fact since doing this I have reduced my server issues by 99%. EDIT - I now have one Host with 2 VMs and an iscsi backup server that backs up the VMs.

I recently found out that I do not need Vault enabled for all users in order for Vault to work, and I am wondering if the same is true for Groups. Can I disable the Groups app listed in the admin panel / apps for all OUs, but leave it enabled for the admin OU, and will all the groups I have setup for all the staff still work from an emailing group perspective?

Currently have the groups in the school so that only internal domain users can email to a school group. The school is now part of a federation, and the staff at other schools would like to be able to email my school using the internal domain groups. If I select edit and the public I get the following, I only want external users to be able to email the group and that is it. I don't want them to be able to view emails that might have been sent internally by the group members, if that makes sense. Is the last image OK for what I need?

I have just noticed the following, On the right side of the Google Admin home page, click 'Get more apps and services' then scroll to the bottom of the page where for me it lists the ability to add the Android management app. Not had time to see what this does or why its not installed as default and needs adding separately, but thought I would post anyway.

Hello all. I have the instructions for migrating Sims & FMS after installing a new version of SQL on the same server, but I do not have instructions for migrating Solus3. I contacted my support (LA) but they just sent me instructions for migrating to a completely new serer, and I probably only need about 10% of what they sent over. Does anyone have some nice simple steps they can send me?

Me again. Windows has two places it keeps proxy settings. The 'Other place' is used for non user internet access things like Windows updates etc. You might need to do the following without any proxy settings set or with the correct proxy settings set, I cant remember which way round it should be. Lets try without any proxy settings set first as this is how all computers come as standard. Using IE locate the proxy settings page and remove all the settings, save or apply and then run the following command netsh winhttp import proxy source=ie See how things go, if you still have the issue, do the same but enter the new correct proxy settings in ie and then run the command.

I gave up years ago using room numbers or locations in computer names, I simply use the serial of the machine and keep a list of where machines are, it's much simpler

I had a similar issue which I tracked down to and old startup kix script that was still running for some users.

Would this be fixed by creating a symbolic link in windows?

So it includes the Conditions & Duration part of the 'Create a custom retention rule' page but not the Action after expiration. This makes no sense, I already know which emails will be covered as I have just selected this in the bits above, the bit I do need to know is what emails will be effected by the actual action as I have no way of knowing what all the users have actually sent to their bins. EDIT - BTW thanks for letting me know how it works :0)

Would someone test this out on their domain for me. Send an email to another users in your domain, create a new email rule using my settings above but do not apply them. click preview and let me know if it lists the email you just sent in the list of affected emails covered by the rule. If you could then delete the email to the bin and do those steps again. Does it list the email sent? Thanks

None of the schools I look after can (or are allowed) to switch to a better MIS, due to the fact it integrates with FMS. Our LA will only allow FMS in county schools and the bursar's all need the staff costing projections that are pulled from Sims.

Hi, I wanted to set any messages that have been sent to the users bin so they get properly deleted after 1 year using Vault. I selected 'Create Rule' 'Email', '365' days days from when the message was sent, and then select 'Expunge just the messages that users have already deleted'. The issue is, when I then select preview to see which emails will get covered by this retention rule it is listing emails sent / received today in the list. This is a screenshot of my settings.

Its OK, I have just realized I was not able to see all the Vault options. Clicking on the date range when creating a retention brings up all the other options. I feel really stupid now. moving on - What is a recommended period of time to keep deleted emails and documents hanging round in Vault?
