Data Impact Assessment for NHS app just published. ‘The DPIA must not claim the data is anonymous, or that the app preserves anonymity, as under UK law it does not’

Google Meet - do you have Meet listed in Gmail yet?
TwistedHelixis replied to TwistedHelixis's topic in Cloud Services
Still nothing for my schools but at least I know we have not been missed. -
Coronavirus: General discussion (see opening post for rules)
TwistedHelixis replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
I would be doing this if they had used them prior to the epidemic. Unfortunately training everyone under these circumstances is not possible for me. -
And you counter argument is, Meet is controlled from the school's own admin system, if something needs changing, such as allowing Meet to invite people outside the domain, its all possible, we have the power. You need to understand that Meet is starting at a secure level, but we can reduce the security bit by bit if needed. We can also have logs of all Meet meetings, and control if live streaming is enabled or if recording is an enabled option. Also Zoom is getting banned in some local authorities. Just thought you should have all the facts xxx EDITED

I look after a few schools and they are using Google Meet. Google said a few weeks ago that Meet would display in Gmail, which it does for my personal company account but not for any of the schools I look after. Is Meet displayed in your school Gmail yet?

No, you can join using the URL or number, without an account I told.

Coronavirus: General discussion (see opening post for rules)

Posted yesterday by someone else - So for those 100,000 tests that were apparently done, they quietly dropped the phrase 'tests carried out' from their test reporting, at least 40,000 tests included in yesterday's figures were YET to be carried out when they made that announcement. hmmmm -
Or you could just use Office 365 or G Suite for free and create your own VLE

This is more the approach I will be taking. We are on office 2013 and will need to upgrade soon (ish). At that point it will just make sense to not upgrade and I can then look at removing office, starting with people I know are already using the online version of Drive.

Google Sites video issues - please help - Primary School
TwistedHelixis replied to TwistedHelixis's topic in Cloud Services
Still no joy. I don't get a spinning icon just the first frame of the video with the play arrow, pressing the play arrow does nothing. Makes no difference if the account is a domain one or not, or which browser. For the moment I have just uploaded them via YouTube. -
Google Sites video issues - please help - Primary School
TwistedHelixis replied to TwistedHelixis's topic in Cloud Services
Thanks for getting back to me :0) Its set to 'Anyone on the internet can find and view' I think link sharing is also on, but I cant see where I would turn that off. The '&' option gives a 404 not found message. The '?' option doesn't seem to stop the adverts, although this time they only appear at the end of video or if I press pause. -
We are getting sent videos from parents of their children doing homework or building things and I have been asked to put these on the website, which is a Google Site. Reading up on this there are two ways of getting videos on the website. 1 - Upload the video to Google drive, browse and attach the video using the insert drive option. Issue - the videos get thumbnail but do not play. They also do not play from drive itself. 2 - Upload the video to YouTube and attach to the site using the insert YouTube feature. Issue - The video plays fine but adverts are displayed as tiles along the bottom of the video. Would not be so bad but one was for a Love Island type of program with someone in a bra, not so good for primary school pupils on a school website with their parents. Any advice would be very appreciated.

Uninstalling an old version of SQL question
TwistedHelixis replied to TwistedHelixis's topic in Enterprise Software
Finally got time to uninstall SQL :0) During the uninstall process it lists some shared features. I don't want to cause any problems for the installed SQL 2016 that is also installed. Should I just leave the 'Shared Feature' un ticked. -

I had a FB post today with someone claiming that the virus does not spread by itself and that it's being spread on purpose for monetary reasons. When I asked for some actual evidence, they sent me about 3 pages of nonsense, everything from World leaders standing next to siblings (as they know it can't be spread) to some random vaccine trial. I am now being told I must join the dots between the evidence to reveal the truth. Try to reason with someone that sees the world from that viewpoint. -
Some school chrome remote has been great, others it simply does not work. Also not had great results with remote assistant. I am going to test remote utilities next - https://www.remoteutilities.com/ Currently have the free version of Team Viewer which is great but costs too much for just one connection.

Coronavirus: General discussion (see opening post for rules)

Except he could have a car crash in a couple of weeks and need emergency medical help, which due to the fact he went out and infected others means the emergency services are too busy to help him. Some people are so short sighted it's driving me nuts. -

Just had a go at my best friend for going out while his children are at home with terrible cough and very high temperature. Not sure we will still be friends after this as he just doesn't care. :0( -
Adding new users to a group does not work for us, I just tested it and the user did not have access to the shared folder. Perhaps removing / adding the group just makes things happen a bit faster and I just need to be more patient. TBH, what with all this school closure stuff going on at the moment I have zero time for testing stuff like this.
