  1. What happens doing the above, if a teacher has moved the folder or files into the 'My Drive' area, do they need to move it back again?
  2. Unfortunately not an option as these files are also for the website and set with Public access. We restrict our Shared Drives to internal only. I don't have GAM setup yet, so will probably just add the individual teachers as needed. Cheers
  3. A while ago I shared some files in my Google Drive with our all_teachers group. This worked fine at the time but when a new teacher starts they are not getting the shared files in their 'Shared with me' drive unless I share them directly with that teacher again. Is there a way of getting the shared files to show up for any new teachers that are in the all_teachers group?
  4. Over the last few weeks I have been handed tablets that seem to be in a loop cycle. In the pull down menu they display something like 'account update needed' after pressing this I get the message 'if you proceed your work profile will be replaced with a work profile and you will lose all your apps' if I choose to exit or continue I eventually end up with the same pull down message 'account update needed'. Removing the advanced device profile and setting back to basic seems to have fixed this issue. On a side note 'Work profiles are actually disabled' even for the advanced device profile policy. Anyone had similar or got any ideas?
  5. A while back I installed SQL 2016 and moved SIMS / FMS from SQL 2012. Am I OK to uninstall all SQL2012 entries listed under add / remove programs, and should they be uninstalled in a specific order?
  6. Make sure there is no dust on the edge sensors running round the edge of the TV and reboot the TV. I also seem to remember finding some hidden calibration system on that TV that also gave access to the cameras, but we no longer have that Tv and I don't have the info anymore.
  7. I look after a few primary schools. One has SeeSaw, so they will use that for remote learning, the others are all G Suite schools, but the pupils do not have any accounts, so will probably just create Drive folders that are shared on the schools website for the teachers to upload some work into.
  8. The problem I seem to have is that some emails should probably be kept longer than others, so what do you set the retention period to?
  9. Just wondering, if the user has deleted the emails but they were still held in an old backup somewhere would they still need to be printed?
  10. We just use Android tablets :0) When the staff or pupils take a photo it is automatically uploaded to Google Photos and is instantaneously available from their laptops, without the need to copy any files anywhere or plug any cables in. The tablets can also be used for a million other objectives, so workout very cost effective.
  11. From Google site Not used it, but I would think it can be set to run using task scheduler.
  12. This would be great at our primary schools but that is way more then we pay to backup all our servers and G Suite data :0(
  13. Google also do some AR classroom stuff, like being able to walk round a giant plant cell which is in the middle of the classroom.
  14. Had a similar issue a few years back, but it actually ended up being an issue with Smart software and Power Point, just on her laptop. Whenever I went in to see the issue, her laptop was fine. Happened to notice the issue a few months later while doing something with the laptop. Spent some time uninstalling different apps etc, even rebooted laptop, problem was the issue was not all the time. Finally worked out it was something to do with the touch software running in the smart board app, so if she had word open while the laptop was connected to the smartborad it would cause PP to run like a dog. All staff had the same make of laptops and nobody else had the issue.
  15. Except most cloud based backup accounts need the account being used to be a member of the domain and sometimes to be an admin account.
  16. Not had that issue myself but seem to remember a post on Reddit about this.
  17. One issue I have thought of with some of these cloud backup systems is that some of them require a cloud domain account to access the backups, so what happens if that cloud domain account gets hacked or deleted. Are you blocked from accessing your backups the one time you actually need to be able to restore. Seems like a bit of a catch 22.
  18. I need to store a new ish APC 1500 and need to know what's the best way to protect the batteries. Google seems to come back with different and conflicting results. On the APC site it says to do a full discharge and re change ever 6 months, but another says its really bad to let the battery discharge and it must be kept above 60% charge while in storage, as every discharge will shorting the life of the battery. Another site says to remove the power cable pin from the battery while its fully charged and then just store it. Anyone actually know what I should be doing?
  19. I will PM you the issue. Not sure I should post it online.
  20. For those people not wanting to back up to on-site, Spanning is pretty neat... I use that at a few schools but have found their support very iffy lately, otherwise it's a great product. Looking forward will be moving to onsite backups for the rest of my schools as it has been great and very cheap.
  21. Not really. For one I don't need expensive servers onsite, just space. I also don't need backup servers to backup those server, which again is saving money. Our only expense will be storage which is dirt cheap.
  22. 1. Dark on Netflix, probably the best TV show of all time 2. Better call soul 3. Mr Robot 4. Cuckoo. Can't believe I have only just started to watch these.
  23. Found this list of different backup systems. Some cloud based, some old style. Randomly clicked on one halfway down that does 365 and G Suite to local storage and probably costs nothing, called BackupVault. https://www.capterra.com/backup-software/
  24. What you probably need is something like cubebackup but for office 365 - it only costs us about $2 per year per account under edu licensing, so is almost free and backs up all our G Suite data (email, drive, calendars.........) to local storage in school. https://www.cubebackup.com
