  2. Have you thought about Stone. They do on site warranty and machines are pretty good. Might be worth a look. Stone Computers - Computers, Computer Equipment All of our desktops are stones and we have 5 banks of their laptops. On site warranty for us is next working day after job is logged with them.
  3. What about if you get lag...you could die for real.
  4. Second using a bootable linux disk then just copy the files you need to external device then reimage it.

  7. Thanks for the quick reply, but no there is no addtional wireless software on the machine, it uses windows to configure it.
  8. Morning All, We have just got a batch of 32 Toshiba L450's in. I have been building the image for them before they can be deployed. I have a problem with the wireless on this machine and wondered if anyone has come across it as its driving me insane. So here's what we have... The Machine - Toshiba L450 Windows XP Pro SP3 Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless Card Wireless - Ruckus Managed Wireless WPA2 Encryption Radius Authentication PEAP Authentication The Problem - Wireless will connect intermittently, but 9 times out of 10 will not connect. If it does and the machine is rebooted it will loose connectivity. Drivers have been updated to the latest version and still no luck. Can anyone help?

  14. Is there any toshiba power saving software installed, maybe this could be the problem. I know if you haven't imaged their machines they come bundled with loads of software...Just a thought
  15. Its for domestic use only and as the school own the laptops this would come under commercial use and therefore break the terms of use for it. As said before talk to your LEA and see what they offer.
  16. I'm not surprised, I was one of these when i was at school, i think the last game i did this for was when GTA -San Andreas came out which was when i was at college
  17. We fixed this problem by upgrading the wireless LAN driver. I know it sounds weird but it conflicts with the sound driver, i still have the driver and if you want to try it PM me your email address and I will email over the driver as Toshiba sent it out to us.
  18. Here we have NM, Senior Tech, Tech and AV Tech. We all work full time with varying holidays due to term of service, but if we didn't work full time no imaging would take place as we wouldn't be able to fit it in and just other general maintenance such as server reboots and other down time.
  19. Most of our older kit has been great but last years PCs where a bit of a pita. We had many issues with graphics cards dieing. i think we had the engineer out to use for about 7 or 8 times within the space of a couple of months, may have been more. Hopefully the newer ones will be much better but this time there is no external graphics card, all on board this year, but still we only had 10.
  20. Not another one....dammit
  21. Afternoon all, I am playing around with openfiler and have been very impressed so far. We have just had a suite of PCs installed in the music room and wanted some storage space for the files that the kids here would be creating. We decided to have a play around with Openfiler and i have it working with AD Authentication and have setup 2 shares which can be accessed by students and staff. What my question is, is that i want to be able to setup multiple shares for individual users that only that user can access i.e. a home directory, and wanted to know if you can set permissions to folders for individuals rather than groups. I have looked through the posts on here but haven't come across anything yet, but if i have missed something please point me in the right direction. Any help greatly appreciated.
  22. Sorry i didn't see that post was just flicking through them and thought i would post...i shall be more careful in future.
  23. i know you said you gave them a new account but did you give them a new profile as well if you are using roaming profiles. May be worth recreating their profile as well, assuming you are using roaming and not mandatory. Just a shot in the dark as this is weird... Keep us posted
  24. This was brilliant.
