here - ICT Technician Just off the birmingham.gov.uk site...nothing to do with me -
We have HP's here mainly, can't fault the builds and haven't had many problems with them, think only a couple of very old ones have "died" but they are mainly very good.

You can just change the file extension to what the above have said ie. to MPG then just use Windows Movie Maker to convert to WMV works a treat most of the time we have used it.

I will second a vote for Limit Logon, we use it here to great effect. Just runs a scrip at logon to record what machine and time and then runs another script at logoff to "take" them off the system, if they don't log off they come see us and we log them off via a AD plugin and tell them to log off

Yep back here too, according to the news and the Met Office website we are supposed to be in for some more tonight and Thursday.

I would have to agree with the others about that much printing, could you not get them to cut the amount of printing they need, then maybe the printer would not be such a huge issue. We had this at one point and found that the teachers where using the printer as a photocopier and printing all the handouts they needed for each lesson. Once they where threatened with running costs they soon stopped. But if you still need a printer i second the vote for the 4250's they are very good.

After reading through the comments made, and what you said you have done i think you may have to call VM Tech Support as it may be a setting on the set top box thats stopping it as someone else suggested.

i know its not ideal but could you turn the ap off in the other room and see if it will connect to the one closest to you? if it still doesnt connect to the one in the off there may be a problem with that ap. just a thought?

What is the size of your largest Ghost Image?25GB i think Where do you keep your Ghost Images? On a network share currently held on a buffalo terastation Do you periodically Update your images with all the Updates and Software available?Usually every summer Do you have an image for each model PC or for Each Room/Department with the relevant software on the image?Yes unfortunately for me As said before i have a basic build for each model and then a build with all curriculum software, this year however i am creating images for departmental areas, so this will hopefully cut down the size of the images.

I forgot about teacher laptops - they are named in the following way ltft-user intials hope this helps in what you where looking for.
-
We use roomnumber-desktop/laptop-model-number, so an exmaple of ours would be: Desktop - RM01-DES-STS-01 Laptop - RM01-LAP-NX6-01 These are then linked to the manufactuers serial number and can easily identify where they belong and what model they are.
-
I was going to say that but you beat me to it.
