I've got 20 4th Gen iPods which we use in class for kids recording videos and taking pictures, I have them set up to automatically sync the photos and videos to Dropbox which works fine, I can then monitor the Dropbox folder on the server and move the files from there to a permanent home. The problem I'm having is that Configurator has version 4 of Dropbox and the iPods are on iOS 6 and can't upgrade to 7 and the highest version of Dropbox supported on iOS 6 is 2.3.2 so I can't push out Dropbox and all its settings from Configurator without having the ipa for version 2.3.2 and have to install and configure it manually on all the iPods after I've supevised them. Does anyone know how I can get the ipa off of on of the ipods and on to the Mac so I can tell configurator to push out the old version instead?

There should be a button on your projector remote labeled Aspect or Aspect ratio, if you press that is should be able to switch it to 4:3 then when you connect the laptop to it, the laptop should recognise it's connected to a 4:3 output and automatically switch the output resolution to match, this will mean that the laptop screen has black lines down either side but it will change back to 16:9 when the VGA connector is disconnected.

I have the Monarch timers in our 2 iPad trolleys and once I got them set up to charge during the night I can't say I've ever had to worry about them again, it is a pain they cant just be set to stay on but I can see why they aren't for power consumption reasons. As long as the iPads are put back in the trolley and plugged in they easily have enough charge to make it through the following school day. Now that I think about it, you set them up to how many hours you want them to charge for I've got mine set to 1am to 5am but I'm pretty sure you could set them to 12am to 12am. I have found that they lose the settings and have to be reconfigured if they are unplugged for a considerable length of time though i.e half terms.

it's got to be worth a try to see if it is just Windows 7 specific

I've not got the Taken King, I stopped playing after House of wolves as I wasn't prepared to buy another expansion pass after the first one really didn't seem worth it to me, maybe if it's on special one day I'll pick it up.

you do realise that's 4 right? lol All of those are good games in their own right, Titanfall is a great pick up and play game without needing to get too caught up in it you can be winning rounds from level 1, it's may go to FPS if I only have and hour or so to play. Destiny is more of a grind, to get anywhere in the game you need to invest a load of time, the story single player can be boring, CO OP is fun with friends and the PVP multiplayer had a definite UT/Halo feel to it. Halo....... Well it's Halo, it's been in essence the same game since it launched on the original Xbox COD is cool but too full of whiny 12 year olds for my liking, you can't play that game with a headset on.

Is there a manufacturer power management application that is overriding the windows settings? Also might be worth checking group policy to see if there is anything set in there.

that makes sense but is it worth going Raid 10 over Raid 1? is it really going to make that much difference to the speed?

I'm speccing up our new server and I'm toying with the idea of running the OS off a SSD raid 5 Array, is there any advantage or should I just go with a 2 disk mirror? The server will be the primary domain controller also running DHCP and DNS.

Me too, I think I'm going to be an instant adopter, I like the look of the Vive but if you have to always have it set up in an open space with the 'lighthouse's' then that will sway me more to the Rift

I went through the tutorials last night, the docking one had me trying for ages and plenty of mad dashes for the exit of the space station before it blew me to pieces because I was taking so long landing on the pad, I didn't realise you had to be facing forward for it to dock you. I'm sure I will get the hang of it eventually, like I said I was tired last night and probably missed plenty of instructions because I just found myself floating around thinking what do I need to do now.

I had a go of Elite Dangerous last night and I'm completely confused, maybe it's because I was tired but it was just a huge mess of controls to learn.

I spoke to Fujitsu about this before and they were extremely unhelpful, I gave up and didn't bother registering them

I've been playing a lot of Mad Max recently, I'd say I'm about 8 hours in and it's starting to feel a bit repetitive. I'm thinking about getting Elite Dangerous as it's on Special on Steam today.

I ran into this problem a lot in the past because machines were imaged using ghost but at no point was a sysprep run so all the machines were using the same GUID and this in turn made the server think someone had cloned a machine and was trying to get in on an unauthorised device.

I've got 3 of Lapsafe trolleys with cat5 ports and never used the ports, because 1) I doubt the teachers would ever bother to plug the RJ45 back in and 2) I'm not so sure I want 45 Laptops powering up to do updates in the middle of the night when the timer for the chargers turn on.

Can anyone help me with this? I currently have a "Pupil" user account that all the children use to log in to the laptops, this works fine up until the point that a class decides that they want have 30 children all logging in at once then everything grinds to a halt. The pupil user is currently a Standard user account with a roaming profile, mapped drives and a Shared desktop assigned by group policy. What's the best way to speed things up? I was thinking maybe a mandatory profile but I've never used one before and don't know if that would be the best option in this situation. Any advice would be appreciated. Guy

I always thought that the Update device in configurator was only an option that you could select or de-select, or at least that's what it is on mine

I've got around 150 Fujitsu Laptops that are forever dropping the wireless connection, I thought it could be our wireless system as it's around 8 years old at this point but this thread is definitely making me question whether it is the wireless system now. I'd love to know if anyone finds a solution to this as replacing all these laptops is not something I want to have to do. On a related note, my school fujitsu laptop only drops the connection in school and has be faultless at home.

Has anyone else had the problem that DVD drives keep coming up with an error in device manager and you have to uninstall it and re-scan for it to get it working again? It also goes back to having an error after a reboot of the machine and you have to do the same fix again.

I wouldn't say jack it in and start looking for another job just yet, give it a go, the beginning of the school year is really busy and you will be asked to do jobs you wouldn't normally do, you just need to prioritise and politely say no, for instance the labels and photo's you mentioned, I would have immediately said that that is more of a TA job and politely declined, but that's not saying I wouldn't have done them had I had the time. In my short time here I've built desks, helped with classroom displays and even rescued a stranded cat from our roof! Primary schools are all about doing what you can to help out but don't let it take you away from the important stuff you're actually there to do. Working as the sole ICT Techie in a primary can be very stressful at times but also immensely rewarding, for instance at this years first day back staff meeting I was introduced by the Head teacher to new staff as the person that the school could not function without, when you are being held in that high regard by the boss then you must be doing something right.

I never noticed before but the cartridges have a recycling symbol on them so I've chanced it and thrown a few in our big recycling bins, I'll await a letter from the council giving us a slap on the wrists.
