  1. Oh wow! That's an impressive amount of crazy.
  2. I wouldn't say that, I'm sure with practice like anything else you could master it with a controller but having a wheel definitely gives a distinct advantage.
  3. Just a quick update, I picked up my Logitech G25 at the weekend and it's incredible what a difference it makes to the game, for the first time I actually won a race and to top it off made it round the Nurburgring without spinning and ending up in a barrier. If you are in to your racing sims then a decent wheel and pedals are a greet investment.
  4. 100% agree, twice I've tried to watch it now and neither time have I made it to the end before giving up.
  5. I'M OUT!
  6. All round South London we get a lot of Parakeets, rumor has it that someone got fed up breeding them in their aviary and just let them all go one day and they've just thrived ever since, I must admit it is nice to look out the window and see bright green birds sitting in the trees.
  7. Hi, I've been on the forum for a week or so but just saw this thread so thought I'd better say hello. My name is Guy, I've been in my current role as ICT Manager in a South East London primary school for a month now, before that I was a LEA Computer engineer and before that I was a system builder for a high street shop, all in all I've been in I.T for 18 years. I've got little or no qualifications to say I can do what I do but I've always got new jobs on the standard of my knowledge and work. I've known about Edugeek for a while but never signed up, it has been invaluable when searching for solutions to problems, so thank you all for your wonderful help in the past and I hope that I can contribute to this wealth of expertise in the future.
  8. We have 3 Servers and they are called Admin, Currserver and Telserver, so imaginative, all named before I took over running the ICT here.
  9. I have a feeling because screen brightness is normally hardware specific there is no way to set it via a group policy but like @witch said high performance power settings should do it.
  10. Sounds like the Laptop has some very serious issue to me
  11. lol the backup, format and re-install was going to be my next suggestion. extremely unhelpful I know but these issues can take longer to solve than the whole rigmarole of wiping and starting again. The problem with windows update errors are that they are so vague and when googling you rarely find a definitive solution.
  12. That error code can be a Winsock problem, Open an Elevated Command Prompt window, and run the following command NETSH WINSOCK RESET Make sure to reboot the machine after.
  13. By the time I'd look at some reviews last night, the free GTA V option had gone, this card has a slower core clock speed than the other cards I've been looking at but on the flip side it seems to be the card giving the least problems with the coil whine issue.
  14. It's a branded (can't remember which brand of the top of my head) 600w Modular PSU, the GTX 460 I have at the moment required a 450w minimum so I got something meaty on my last upgrade.
  15. I assumed the BIOS should automatically down-clock the memory but I'll double check I don't think it's a faulty module as I tried 2 of them installed singularly and still have the same stop at 3GB
  16. sounds like the update service has got corrupted at some point, you could try running the Microsoft windows update fix it and see if that helps https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/gp/windows-update-issues/en-gb Also try ADWCleaner as it seems to get rid of more malware that malware bytes does these days.
  17. We had our SQL upgraded last week to 2014 and since then SIMS has been really slow, I applied some fixes from a thread I saw on here yesterday which seems to have made things better but I also ordered some more RAM as the server only had 4GB after a little research it seems the official maximum amount of RAM for this server is 16GB so I went ahead and ordered some, it arrived yesterday and I fitted it at the end of the school day but with the new RAM fitted it freezes on POST, it will start to register the new RAM and then freeze at around 3GB. I've put the old RAM back in for now and have downloaded a BIOS update to run later today but failing that I'm stumped as to why it's not working. This is the Crucial scan result Computer memory and SSD upgrades scan results for HP - Compaq ProLiant ProLiant ML110 G6 from Crucial I ordered 2 of the 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR3 PC3-12800 Unbuffered ECC 1.35V 512Meg x 72 Now I know that the Crucial scanner has been known to be wrong but from what I can see this stuff should be working, anyone got any ideas?
  18. Comic Sans lol I'm not going to post up mine in case I get a load of fake jobs created but mine is really basic, Class, equipment type and description. I really don't want to give them too many boxes to get confused with. edit - mine also has drop down boxes for class and equipment type
  19. I was thinking the same thing *grabs tinfoil hat*
  20. So tempted to order this right now ITS BACK! Asus GeForce GTX 970 4GB DirectCU II OC STRIX with Free GTA V & Witcher 3 and Batman Arham Knight, £289.99 delivered @ dabs
  21. yeah but try explaining to a teacher how to get the URL from the Desktop shortcut and put it into their smartphone browser, such a simple task for you or I but near impossible for them to comprehend.
  22. Just set up a Google form this morning that I'm going to put a link to on the teacher desktop, such a simple and elegant way of getting fault reports, unless the report is no internet of course.
  23. I never knew they could lose data either.
  24. Our SQL was upgraded to 2014 a couple of weeks ago, the office staff just told me yesterday that SIMS has been slow since, I logged in to the server and noticed that it was using 100% memory (not helped by the fact it only has 4GB , 16GB ordered) I'll try the fixes listed in this thread as well as fitting the new memory and see what happens.
  25. I'm not planning on running anything at 4k any time soon as I don't have a 4k display but it does sound like it'll be an issue at some point in the future, all the reviews I've seen of the 970 have been excellent and it well out performs the AMD equivalent on frames, temperature and noise levels. maybe it's just you've got a dud one, have you got it swapped under warranty?
