So the data on the 2008 server will remain the same and not deduplicated?

Sorry to hijack the thread but I'm setting this up too, I've got a 2008R2 server and a 2012R2 server that replicate shares, if I set this up on the 2012 server will I have any issues with the data on the 2008 server? I'm a little worried about firing it up as I've never used dedup before in a live environment.

Can't say I've experienced that with Sophos Enterprise, if it's not getting rid of the virus then you need to look at your removal policy and find out why.

I can only echo what others have said, don't go making huge changes straight away, sit back and talk to the staff, find out what issues are making their lives difficult, this also helps with finding out which members of staff are likely to cause you problems in the future through their lack of computer knowledge or their over confidence that they know it all. I've been in a new ICT manager role for 2 months now and I've only just got around to planning things to improve the use of ICT around here.

When I worked supporting around 40 schools we'd see 2-3 server HDD failures a year, as far as I'm aware the school I work at now has never had a disk failure in the 8 years it's been here, the server room is climate controlled though.

I'm probably completely wrong here because we just stick with the OEM Pro copies we get with the hardware but don't you need to have an OEM version of windows already to upgrade it to an enterprise licence?

Because then they can't charge a fortune for enterprise licenses.

I've got it set up here that the admin staff can use a VPN to remote desktop in to their own computer in the school, obviously if they are planning to connect remotely they need to either leave their PC on or get someone here to turn it on for them. It's not ideal but it does mean they get a familiar user experience because it's as though they were sat at their own desk in school.

I've been running it for a while in the Staffroom, I've had no complaints about the UI, the ICT Co-ordinator did want me to install it on 5 new PPA computers but after testing I decided that it just wasn't quite there yet because of various bugs and stuck with 7.

I have a netgear managed system here but I wouldn't recommend it as the AP's keep dropping connections when you get more than 10 devices connected to one AP, I installed a Ubiquiti AC system recently in a school I worked in and really couldn't find a fault with it, if I had the budget I'd replace all our AP's here with Ubiquity AP's.

Is it going to give you less lag than the current option that lets you stream to another PC? I've got a mini itx pc in the lounge connected to the telly and tried the Steam home streaming thing and the games were pretty unplayable.

So that basically negates the need to have a previous version of windows, so anyone can get on the Insider program and get a free version of Windows without owning a qualifying upgradable version. I like that my home and work PC will just upgrade to the full version but it does seem like a bit of a silly move.

As far as I'm aware Starter edition was only available to OEM and was never released as an ISO, there is a way to edit a file on any Windows 7 iso to allow you to install any version, there is a tool called ei.cfg Removal Utility that allows you to do it but whether it will give you Starter edition I have no idea Link: http://code.kliu.org/misc/winisoutils/ -edit- looks like that tool doesn't work anymore but you can just delete the ei.cfg file manually from the sources folder on the iso

@JoeBloggs it's only $499 if you pre-order after that it's going up to $999, it's more of a vanity product than actual functional and reviews all say it's got no object awareness in the current generation, so it could just fly into a tree or building while tracking you. I still want one though.

I'd say it was something to do with the resolution or refresh rate that the projector doesn't like, have you tried adjusting the resolution and refresh to one suggested in the projector user manual?
