  2. Well the order has gone to finance today. So hopefully in a couple of weeks I will be able to give this ago. I will keep people informed of my progress.

I am thinking of getting one of these. I noticed that they come supplied with Win 7 Home Premium. Has anyone looked at installing Win 7 Pro? I would like to add it to the domain for use in our IT suites by staff Would only be for general browsing and office. Maybe a bit of MIS. Good idea or not??
  5. ; Do you not think it's time to go looking for her? Oh and congrats solitaire89!
  6. Well, start as you mean to go on......
  7. Just north of Newcastle, we have snow. Do we not, There was approx 8 inches of snow on my car on Saturday morning. I still managed to persuade my self to clean the snow off the car and go to the gym. Here is the view of the field from the car park as I was leaving on Friday. Bare in mind this was before the massive snow fall. Should be fun tomorrow!!
  8. ActivStudio 3.7.19 was the last version of ActivStudio. I have just replaced it this week. No MSI though. I just did it all with AutoIT. Sorry
  9. I believe guidelines will suggest 750mm or 75cm for each workstation. I know this as we had a rather expensive room refurb and was told this.
  10. No elsiegee40 means that you should only be using windows update at home. So use WSUS in an environment with many machines.
  11. Anyone know if it's possible to enable the Mini Mode in Media Player via the Registry? Just someone in our languages department has asked for it. Anyone?
  12. I have moved over to ActivInspire 1.4 and included the latest update 1.42932 and on most machine I am getting the symptoms exibited here. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows/60244-anyone-know-what-has-happened-control-panel-add-remove-programs-here.html#post545937 Now I have tried to do some digging in the registry and tried adding the display icon key. Also it would seem that you are not able to change the icon the shortcut. After trying all this I am not able to get anywhere. Can somebody give me some information on how to fix it or is this something we will have to live with??
  13. Can't get the monday, tuesday etc. But have managed to get the date working. It's better than nothing, but if someone does know how to get the day in there aswell that would be great.
  14. I am finally trying to get everything sorted with the backups here. What I use currently on each day is C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntbackup.exe backup "@C:\Documents and Settings\admin\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\daily.bks" /a /d "Set created %date:-=-%" /v:yes /r:no /hc:off /m differential /j "Daily Diff Backup" /l:s /f "\\san\storage\backup\monday.bkf" Then for each day monday, becomes tuesday etc. But this means I need 4 scheduled tasks for Mon to Thur and a 5th for the Full backup on a Friday. What would be better is on task but it will put something like Monday_15/11/2010.bkf. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks
  15. Us too. Only small at the mo, but will be growing asap!

  17. How much flapping and chicken dancing with there be??? Any offers....
  18. Yeah I know about 2003 needed. That is not the issue. Just wondered if it worked alright
  19. Anyone got Successmaker (we run 1.3) running on a VM? Just wondering if there are any pitfalls I should look out for? I am about to give this ago myself. As the physical server the program resides on is on it's last legs. Thanks
  20. I understand that, but why are you not installing updates outside of peak hours? Makes life so much easier in my opinion.
  21. Can you not schedule the updates to be installed out of hours? Ie when no pupils are on the network.
  22. Anyone got the CD's to install 1.3? Just ours have gone missing and I don't really want to have to contact RM for some more as they will charge the earth. It's a long shot I know but got to be worth a try. Many Thanks
  23. Yup it will be the capacitors. You can replace them yourself. If you comfortable with a soldering iron. If not find a local electrical repair place. We have one locally that has fixed 5-6 of our amps. Think he charges £15 a time. Better than replacing the whole unit. Unless it's almost new.
  24. I would personally look to do a clean install. That way you can get no nasty stuff lurking around from the upgrade. Also test, test and test again.
  25. Pretty sure most will be in some form of trouble. As most of the funding for CLC's came through BECTA. Maybe there will be some choice equipment going though,
