Ho hum here goes, re image all desktops install 32 new machines in second Ict suite build image for 2 ict suites & deploy image service all projectors (22) sort out new sans relocate several machines from second ICT suite redo our default profile supervise cabling contractor pull 4-5 points in year 5 block have Ranger installed plus configure config a couple of new pieces of software and deploy Plus a number of things I hve no doubt forgotton. Oh did I mention this will be in 4 weeks or so. I do have to add I am pretty sure all of this will not get done.

From what I can remember I use fog/kernel/MaxdataMsi.ps As I downloaded one on the ps kernals. I would imagine you will need to use the following fog/kernel/Kernel-2.6.29.2.kitchensink and all should be groovy! You should see the machine using the different kernal when booting it should list Kernal-2.6.29.2.kitchensink Hope that helps

Yes you can indeed just use a single Kernal on one machine http://www.asj-inc.co.uk/images/fog.jpg You just place the kernal in the kernal foilder on the fog server then specify it in the hosts info. Leave it blank and the default kernal is used. Hope that helps

Ah right, Well I have not bought anything like this before. So can people point me in the right direction?? Basically it will be used to store our public resources and our staff resources. Maybe some backup data, before being copied over to our storage on the other side of the school site.

Are you behind a proxy?? I found that when I installed fog on 8.10 I have to manually enter proxy details including a username and password. I then ran apt-get install apache2, mysql and installed all the packages first. Then ran the fog installer. This was the only way to get fog installed. Hope that helps

What do you guys think of this for a rackmountable storage server. Custom Build 2u short 6TB Raid 5 System. - Racksurf , Rackmount cases, Rackmount systems, 1u,2,3u,4u,5u, rackmount systems, rackqueen, custom server, bespoke server I am thinking of either putting on freenas or openfiler. There maybe a possiblity of sticking either server 2003 or 2008 on. Does anyone else have any ideas? Also has anyone bought from these guys? Thanks

Hi, 2 years ago we purchased 100 office licences. They were office 2007 licences. I choose at the time to go down the route of 2003. We have a 2003 volume licence code. What I was wondering as we bought office 2007 could we just go to our supplier and get office 2007 media and volume licence code at minimal cost?

I have had a similar problem to this. Try start run regsvr32 urlmon.dll. You should get a message saying that the dll has been reregistered in the registry. Try running IE7 again. I found this fixed the machine. I now have set a sheduled task to run when the machine starts to reregister it. Hope that helps

Is there any way to automatically allow active x controls such as quicktime, citrix to run without the user having to accept it. I am running xp pro and ie7 and local profiles. I have looked at the add-ons part but can't seem to find anything. Any help would be appreciated

To get the XP pro key you just ring up Microsoft with your vista business key and they will give you a XP Pro key there and then. I have just done that for 32 machines recently. Hope that helps.

Cmon result. Not only did that ftp work. I was able to download some useful iso's too. One of the machines is built and has been syspreped. I will deploy the image to the other 5 tomorrow. Once again many thanks!

Does anyone have access to a the drivers for a Asus P5VDC TVM motherboard. I have a set of 6 Maxdata machines and we don't have the drivers. I have managed to find the lan and audio drivers. But I can't find a video driver. Well I say can't. I have found a driver but it only gives an output of up to 1024x768. Before the rebuild this machine was running 1280x1024. As Maxdata in the uk have gone bellyup and I can't find anything on the asus site. I am not really sure what to do.. Oh and they are supposed to be in waranty until october 2010 Help......

Well what can say? These packs are a lifesaver. I being on my own in school I just don't have the time to spend putting these packs together. So to find someone who has done what I need and is willing to freely share the hardwork is nothing short of amazing. So Yeah many thanks Michael, long may it continue!

We have 33 machines here that we bought from dell in the summer. They are vista business with the XP downgrade enabled from the factory. I am now in a position to set up an image for them. But we do not have a XP volume licence CD. We use the OEM keys. But on these dells they are Vista business keys. Obviously they won't work on a syspreped XP image. What can I do?

Hi, I have a bit of a strange issue here, some videos on the network will only play in windows media player if you place the video on the desktop. If you play the video from a network share windows media player will only play the sound like there is no codec installed. But it only seems to happen off network share. Anyone else heard of this problem? It does not seem to affect all videos either.

Well at the moment not alot. But I am trying to be constructive. I am making a list of jobs for after half term and then prioritising them. Then if I still have the will to live I might have a think about doing some studying for me exams! ( actually almost no chance )

Is there a new version of shockwave out? I have just had a update message come up on a machine. I have the shockwave 11 msi. Is there a new one available? Also if there is not can someone tell me what I need to put in a transform file to stop looking for a update?
