  1. Few queries on Apple Configurator 2, it is driving me nuts with setting up iPad Mini wallpaper and Device name on the iPad wallpaper. Firstly the perspective zoom automatically switches on so regardless of what resolution/size wallpaper I chose, it shows all pixelated on iPad Mini after supervised. Apple Configurator 1.7 was perfect but since the stupid MacOS update I no longer able to use it, it crashes when I click on it. 1. How can I disable the perspective zoom when supervising iPads? So that the wallpaper and device name appear properly. The wallpaper is too pixelated and the device name is so small that it doesn't look proper. 2. How can I unsupervise iPads? There is no reference to unsupervise devices? 3. When the School supervised Apple Certificate is pushed, it says it is expired on 16/02/16. How can I update the certificate? 4. Most iPads were supervised but some complain the School configuration cannot be setup (reason: invalid profile). 5. When preparing AppleTV, When I click on update/change name it does not work on AppleTV name setup. The only way I found that works is, connect the AppleTV click restore then unplug and plug then change the AppleTV name and then click prepare device. Lastly, where can I get the Apple Configurator 1.72 version and if there isn't any, how can I make the 1.7 to work on MacOS? Many thanks for your kind assistance in advance. Kindest regards J
  2. That's all you need and off course the Apple caching server, once registered using the IP any device under the subnet will cache. Kindest regards J.
  3. Good evening all, Hope all are good. We are introducing Apple TVs to our classrooms, one thing that I wanted to find is the ability to push selected Apps using Apple Configurator 2. Can it be possible? Or can we push apps through Meraki onto it? The Apple TVs are 3rd gen not the latest one but the one before. Kindest regards J.
  4. Agree. With OSX server it is seemless to have Mac clients. Though one thing I couldn't achieve was how to connect NAS storage and direct all clients to use NAS storage (making homes folder to NAS). That was the only reason I stopped using Mac server, though our Mac is now running as a caching server. Kindest regards J
  5. Perfect. Thank you will try it tomorrow morning. Kindest regards J.
  6. Thank you. I am guessing if I put these apks onto USB stick, it will install on the TVs? Also how did you install certs for proxy based internet connections. Kindest regards J.
  7. No need to sign into App Store, Meraki prompts you to enter Apple ID as soon as iPad starts. Nevertheless, it's silly not to provide option to push apps using managed IDs. Kindest regards J.
  8. Thank you for a quick response. I supervised iPads initially using DEP and tried to push the apps but it wouldn't do it. Then I tried using AC to supervise and as soon as I entered the managed ID on supervised iPad it threw the same thing. I think I will skip all this ASM until next year, Apple might fix a lot of issues. Kindest regards J.
  9. I guess best option is to host SIMS locally on onsite Windows server and run it 24/7. Kindest regards J.
  10. I have another question, when I created the managed IDs and then added them as VPP account holders under Meraki, after signing onto the iPads it never pushed any app, stating you do not have permission to install an App. This happened on both student and teacher managed IDs. How Did you manage to over come this issue? Additionally, how did you integrate SIMS accounts? When I tried to do it, it states SIS system but never gave an option for SIMS. Did you export users in csv from SIMS and then upload to ASM? Kindest regards J.
  11. Afternoon all, Just wondering if anyone currently using SIMS Dinner Money and SIMS Agora online payment system at their School please? We currently do a manual moeny collection and dinner registers but would like to migrate to digital method. Looked at some other systems but would like to use an integrated system - We already use SIMS.net, FMS, SIMS InTouch and TeachersApp at our School. Your help, guidance, reviews and advise will be highly appreciated. Kindest regards J.
  12. Could you direct me to the same place please? Where did you get the apk and Google services app Many thanks Kindest regards J.
  13. It's not really "cloud" based as it is "hosted" on Windows 2008 server at SIMS server and they have given permission you to use it. Additionally, you do need a stable internet connection, I wouldn't say superfast internet as it doesn't require high amount of bandwidth for connectivity (session connection is few kbs). Though the reason why we didn't opt for it is because of it's VPN (Remote based) connection. That's not true "Cloud", that's Remote based system. So if you have users on iPads, it is annoying to move cursours here and there to make it work. If users are on Mac, it simply opens a window however not a good method of updating even attendances. We are still using onsite SIMS but am thinking to run onsite server and host it for us to use Teachers App 24/7. We have fibre, and internal wiring is Cat6a with wireless IAPs so no issues on connectivity internally or externally. To my understanding, Capita has to start building true cloud based (user based access) SIMS/FMS/InTouch etc system in order to attract our attention. Kindest regards J.
  14. Exactly as above. If the app session is running at the background on the iPad it will only require PIN Code but if it gets closed then it will ask them to re-login. Kindest regards J.
  15. Staff: Access Students: No access However I would like to have a user based access, we use Google Education services. Just need to know how can we achieve user based filteration for teachers/TAs/PPAs and guest really. We've already created sub organisations in Google Admin so it's based on Teachers and Students etc Kindest regards J.
  16. Applied and working. The SIMS Support team suggested to update the reporting but we're not sure how to do this. Any ideas will be highly appreciative. Kindest regards J
  17. Thank you for sharing this Arthur. I believe Synology has a long way to go for enterprise/business version. I hate to say it but I struggled to get simple Mac <--> Synology Directory Server integration. It drove me insane until I just moved all our users to local standard based with Synolgoy homes folder sharing opening at Start up.
  18. Would you decode this for a simple understanding please - I was excited to read your reply but understood nothing Kindest regards J.
  19. So far my experience was not that great with Apple School manager. It doesn't allow to push apps via Meraki on a userbased scenario. Some suggested to turn to DEP route and then push apps but with *free version of Meraki, you cannot enable device based push of apps. There are other issues as well such as inability to delete accounts, you can make them inactive but cannot delete them. Another issue, if you by mistake setup an id and now you want to change it for example abc@[yourschooldomain].com and now you want to change it to abc@appleid.[yourschooldomain].com; the system allows you to change it on a face value but behind the scenes i.e. at the backend, it doesn't allow you to create/change the IDs (Trust me, I had to sit there and create alternative IDs one by one for entire Year groups!! - I hate this process every year). The DEP and VPP integration (maybe I am in wrong understanding this) doesn't seem to be working either. I was under the impression that we would only need to have one ID Apple School Manager but it seems School manager is just a 'single place' to have your VPP and DEP accounts' - not something I was looking forward to as it doesn't make my life any better. Overall, I ditched the system for now and went back to the old way of pushing Configs using AC and using user based Meraki to push apps. That said, I will keep an eye on ASM and see if things change over the period of time. So far, it's a No. Kindest regards J.
  20. It isn't the permanent solution but o boy, you are fantastic RLR. This would def help and is surely an alternative. A big thank you for helping us out. Kindest regards J
  21. Roberto let's not get into a discussion on 'technology' and 'social' differences and what we can do with paper and pen. There is a difference between naturally thinking of something and penciling it, and having being given a choice and an option. I believe we both have valid arguments and although am sure your intention is to help, I don't think the argument would help with this particular issue. Kind regards J.
  22. I did look into that option but that's not possible am afraid as our kids use the emoji for other apps. Kindest regards J.
  23. I had reply from Google and they are investigating the issue. The unexpected error issue might get resolved on next app update. The sync issue somehow related to imap protocol? Not sure how but that's what I have been told. No fix with sync yet. Regards J.
  24. I might be sounding over the top but please help me understand how will I manage what is allowed when it comes to the inappropriate emoji? You might not have mind about it being there nor do I however when it comes to School it is completely out of question. Is that what you want your child to learn, regardless of it being cartoon style or not, it is still offensive and inappropriate for the School environment. Imagine your child or school kid sending that emoji to you? I stand by my "rant", Apple should provide option to remove it, not everyone wants that on their schools devices. Regards J.
  25. Yes including the home button and power button. Also closed all background apps and run an update still same issue. Regards J.
