    SPAM emails

anyone else suddenly finding this week they are being hit quite hard with lots of SPAM emails sent to users email address. Sometimes up to 6 a day. the enquirers email is getting up to 50. Has something changed.
  2. cheers @LukeC, we only have to suffer it for another week we move over next week.
  3. anyone have any issues with emails from outside providers/suppliers we have had two calls this morning from people reporting that when sending emails to us, they are getting a response back saying their IP address is blocked as spam.
  4. Got this working now, in the core.php i had to change this // Paths and URLs define('DOC_ROOT', realpath(dirname(__FILE__) . '/../')); define('URL_ROOT', str_replace('\\', '/', substr(DOC_ROOT, strlen(realpath($_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT']))) . '/')); To this // Paths and URLs define('DOC_ROOT', realpath(dirname(__FILE__) . '/../')); define('URL_ROOT', '/printmaster/'); Just copied the stuff out of config.default.php to config.php make sure that the old info in config.php is deleted I then renamed init.php and config.php in \inc to init-old and config-old I then left the original config.default.php in the \inc\config folder so i have both config.php with the database settings and config.default.php in the \inc\config refreshed the printmaster site and now got the charge back checkbox etc.
  5. followed the instructions but i keep getting this message do i need to do something extra. Warning: require_once(C:\wamp\www\printmaster\inc/config/config.default.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\wamp\www\printmaster\inc\core.php on line 59 Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'C:\wamp\www\printmaster\inc/config/config.default.php' (include_path='.;C:\php5\pear') in C:\wamp\www\printmaster\inc\core.php on line 59

    Chickens

Couple of questions about keeping chickens. Who has some? if so how many? Yes, 9. Three different types. - What time do you let them out in the morning? Usual before i go to work in the morning about 7 ish, last few weeks with the weather they have refused to come out - When do they lay there eggs? (before you let them out, or do they go back and lay them) It depends i usually only check in the evening (so i am guessing they go back to lay) and depending on the chicken and weather we can have none all the way upto 7 or 8. - Do you let them roam around when you are not at home in the day? They are in a secure pen (fox got the last lot) so they have space to roam around, again depending on time of year and weather we let them also roam around the field. - What time do you lock up? Usual after i have got home had tea and put the kids in bed. Also depends on time of year. Winter about 7 in the evening. Summer as late a 9-10pm. - How many chickens did you start with? we started with 12, found one dead in the coop, one went missing after they were left to roam in the field, and the other was my fault for not counting them back in one night and it got locked out.
  7. Cheers, i suppose the really issue is that nobody in school including the heads PA really knows how it works, because she just asks the guy to make changes but there is no documentation. From what she has shown me so far in the access database it just tables, queries and forms. In the excel spreadsheets it is using formulas, v-look ups and i suspect macro's. The thing is it works, and it works ok, but instead of paying this guy a lot of money every year to help out i hope we could do it in house but it all depends whether this chap will provide either documentation or show me how it works.
  8. At the moment all of the information from this process from parents who have applied to the school for their children, to when the entrance exam is taken and marked, etc. It is all done between an access database and excel spreadsheets. Since starting at the school i have expressed my concern that only the Heads PA and an outside contractor (don't ask long story) are the only two people who know how the system works. Does any other school that requires an entrance exam use any software that could do this whole process for us without having to keep going to this outside contractor to make changes etc.
  9. Just a heads up, it looks like pricing has finally been released onto the portal.
  10. But our point was the service and lack of development/flexibility, so yes the price reduction is a big carrot to stop you moving but what about next year they can just as they have done in the last few years hike the price back up again and then you are back to looking at moving away. Also considering all the issues at the moment and whether they can deliver successfully large scale deployments such as the lightspeed and office 365 their track record so far speaks for its self. I guess it comes down to motivation for moving in the first place price or service!
  11. just a question, with all these schools moving away from OCL for internet etc when does it become unfeasible for them to run the current system. Do they have a legal obligation to provide these kind of services to schools etc or are they going to turn around and just say sort yourself out?
  12. Mark can you register for these sessions on the day at BETT?
  13. Sammy 42 you cant just leave at any point in the contract now. in the new SLA for 2013/2014 they added this little nugget. 'The rolling contract no longer applies where you can give 90 days' notice at any time' They did say new pricing was going to be available in December roll on sometime in April. We have already made the decision to move and sent the termination notice at the start of December, and looking at the twitter feed of the company we went with we weren't the only school in Lancashire to go with them and move away from OCL.
  14. oh that reminds me we've had the parking sensors replaced three times on it, and the drives side headlight at the last count had been replaced six times. When i queried it with the dealer he indicated the electronics were an issue.
  15. I think it was the size of the tyre's. Its because the drive had a slight incline, my old 1.0L Corsa never had any issues getting up.
  16. we had one, it was great for the family plenty of space for bikes etc. I liked the high driving position and the fuel economy was good. But as we discovered with living in a rural location and in recent years the heavy snow falls its rubbish in snowy or icy weather. The wife says that in these conditions it does make handling interesting.
  17. Have you tired Virtue Technologies, they can provide most of the services you are asking about (internet, filtering, Moodle, Email, Anti-Virus and remote backup) i can PM you some contact details across as i know several schools in Lancashire who have made the move with them. It also helps that its from one provider rather than several different ones.
  18. If its Aim High for filling in reports I used this at my last school and found the support from the company that make aim high, 4c to be very helpful and knowledgeable. Have you tried that route?
  19. It was a response from OCL when I emailed ([email protected]) asking about the termination fees and how we go about terminating the internet connection.
  20. I think its just a standard response because if he had checked, he would have discovered that we have our own internal exchange box, emails are just forward too us and the website is hosted by a third party.
  21. Just to let other schools know that were thinking of still leaving CLEO/OCL/LCC internet provision I enquired again about the termination fees and the process of terminating and below is the response please note that their are now NO termination fees, and please feel free to read into that what you want. To me it makes me think they have accepted that schools are wanting to leave and that the current internet provision in the next 12 months from them may take on a different form if so many school are leaving . 'There will be no termination charges for Lancashire schools & academies, funds have been put a side, the only charge applicable will be if you want to take your Moodle data with you as explained below within the bullet points. The process will be to hand in your 3 months' notice before the 31/3/14 so you need to give notice at the end of December 13. • On a different note have you considered what services you will be losing, we provide a service to migrate your Moodle data to your new hosting site but there is a charge for this, I think it's around £200-£250 • You won't be able to keep your email addresses as we will no longer be hosting your emails. • Again we won't be hosting your website, you would need to speak to your new supplier • Basically, the C2E Broadband Bundle (CLEO) covers email, filtering, web hosting, and use of CMA and ant-virus licences.'
  22. A way to record safeguarding/child protection issue(s), I have looked at linked documents but could another new document be added called safeguarding? On the status drop down menu of the private and confidential which users could see these types of documents just SLT? Or can someone recommend a better way.
  23. Has any one seen any software maybe web based that works as a monitoring/reporting system for child protection/safeguarding issue in school.
  24. looks like its just all come back up for how long anybodys guess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  25. Also wonder whether it would be useful if a lot of Lancashire schools are looking at an alternative provider, that we could pool together as a group and maybe get a better discount. I know this was done at the start of this year with a group of 6 Lancashire schools and Virtue Technologies.
