This was always annoying. You'd get some sort of abrupt and/or condescending email/phone call/ticket which was always along the lines of "This is affecting Teaching and Learning, it needs sorting out right now or we can't teach!" and my responses were usually "Well this is the first we've heard of it. If we'd known before, it'd been sorted by now but unfortunately we're not always told in a timely manner. We'll try and sort it ASAP but we can't make guarantees if we're not in the loop." or something similar.

The other thing students like doing is removing the metal hinge from the spacebar. I've 50-odd Logitech keyboards where they all otherwise work fine but are missing that hinge. Really annoying and I wish keyboard manufacturers could come up with another method of balancing the spacebar without needing that hinge.

This fix seems to work and doesn't require re-installing or updating Office.

I sorted it in the end. If anyone is as silly as me to change this setting without taking notice of what it was and the impact it would have, the setting is "Screen Video Capture" and it would need to be set to "Do not allow sites to prompt the user to share a video stream of their screen" which puts it back to only capturing the browser window and this doesn't require permission from the user.

Considering their car parks are always much more expensive than the council ones, I'm not as surprised. People tend to avoid these car parks unless there's no other options.

Thought I'd ask Google Support but they were no help really. Looks like it's a setting Impero (or Ativion in this case) puts into the configuration options for the extension and now the option has disappeared. Aarrgh.

In fact no, I can't find the JSON config section. I thought I had but it's a section for configuring Permissions and URL access. In fact it looks like Google have redesigned the whole Apps & Extensions config page and the option I want simply isn't there anymore. Really annoying as it seems to be applying to all extensions in the Top-Level of the Domain.

I have found that but it's blank. I do remember the setting being a dropdown with the options being something like "browser only" & "full screen".

Earlier in the year, I'd set a setting somewhere in the Admin console where it allowed the Impero ChromeOS extension to see the whole screen instead of just the browser window. What I didn't realise is that it prompts the user if they'd like to share their whole screen (you get a prompt that says "Share your entire screen" & "Education Pro Browser Extension MV3 wants to share the contents of your screen".) Knowing Students, they're more likely to click Cancel or ignore the prompt entirely which means the extension doesn't work. The bigger issue is I can't remember what I changed to make it do this nor can I find it either. I feel like the Google Workspace Admin console is very much like searching for a needle in a haystack, especially since they keep changing things around like Microsoft do every season. Has anyone any ideas?

The BIOS/UEFI settings are normally accessed via F2 (or Fn + F2 in your case). Unfortunately, these don't have the "Novo" button so you can't even use that. Have you tried plugging it into an external monitor to see if anything appears on there or alternatively if you take it apart, there is a separate CMOS battery you can disconnect (along with the main battery) and see if that clears any issues stopping it working?

I've noticed while temporarily helping to support another school that since it's still installed, there are a lot of users that still use it. They're going to have a big shock when it does eventually disappear.

Just to add another thing into the mix, we're using UE-V (User Experience Virtualisation) which for the most part is local profiles with some settings copied back to a "profile" on a server. What gets copied back is never particularly large with the largest profile being a couple of hundred KB. It can be larger if you allow users to set their own desktop wallpaper as it will copy whatever is set back to the profile folder but we have one of two backgrounds applied on login depending on whether the user is Staff or Students, but this doesn't get copied back and keeps the server profile very small. It just means that if users want to set their computer experience up a certain way i.e. if you have left-handed users (or one-armed users!) then it'll set the mouse to left-handed on every computer they login to, without the complexity/large file sizes of Roaming profiles. For us, login times are still as long as it takes to create a local profile on a machine but somewhere in the background, it still applies saved settings.

If the DfE are going to be requiring this soon, I wonder where the extra funding to cover warranties will come from as this is usually extra cost and we're strapped as it is.

I've not used 3CX myself (still on Avaya) but a quick search came up with this on the 3CX forums. No idea if it'll work in your case but may be useful.

I'm guessing the top picture is the compatible remote since it looks very Panasonic like. Would this company be of any use? https://www.wallis-universal.co.uk/ If they don't have any compatible remotes, they have a service where you send them a remote and they will create a compatible remote based on the original and send you back both remotes. If you need any more after that, they keep the design & remote codes on file where they can then easily create more of them without needing the original.

The final migration was done right at the start of the Easter holidays which meant waiting for someone who had the permission to set permissions and at the same time, teach them how to set permissions as they didn't know how to. Basically waiting 2 and a half weeks to get the permission to set my own permissions and in that 2 week time period, I could have sorted API access to a lot of stuff but just couldn't.

We ended up with Arbor, though our hand was forced a bit with that as ScoMIS had their contract taken away from them for SIMS support and so forth so we had to look at other options. It was a smooth-ish transition but for whatever reason that although I had permissions to pretty much everything in SIMS, when our DB was transferred to Arbor I lost everything except very basic access so trying to help other Staff and connecting services via the API's became very difficult initially. Things I miss from SIMS: I knew my way around it a lot better than with Arbor, even setting permissions seemed easier in SIMS than Arbor as I set what seems logical but in the end isn't quite what I'm after. I also can't see a way of publishing a cover list like we had from Nova-T6 which isn't so great but other than that, we were probably right to move away from SIMS. I'd would have liked to have seen Bromcom and how that compares but it wasn't up to me what we went with, so Arbor it is I guess.

I certainly thought I had but knowing W11, it's probably reset whatever I've set. I'm not liking W11's aggressive power management much. I've got one suite of PCs that no matter what I set, they all go back to sleep 10 seconds after power on if no one touches them, and this seems to cause strange issues with OneDrive.

I bought one of these a couple of years ago for our Music dept. as it had a Thunderbolt 4 port on the front that they required. Ours also drops off the network periodically and I found that a restart doesn't fix it, instead you have to go into the BIOS and disable the ethernet adapter, reboot, then back in the BIOS and re-enable the adapter and then it comes back. Rather annoying and there doesn't seem to be any fix for it that I'm aware of. On ours, I've had to configure the wireless adapter so it'll connect if the ethernet adapter drops out again but it's not ideal.

How's the saying go: "Buy cheap - buy twice" or something like that? In this case it's manufacturer buys cheap so that the customer ends up getting shot of their fully touchscreen car to buy something better with physical buttons.

It's the method of controlling the Fuel/Air mixture into a Carburettor - i.e. it "chokes" the engine of air to allow more fuel or vice versa. Manual chokes are the preferred way of controlling this as you've got more control over keeping the engine idling whereas the Bi-metallic strip "auto" chokes adjust the mix based on how warm the strip got from the engine heat. Unfortunately, some of the strips would warm up and cut the fuel mix a bit prematurely which would result in a engine cutting out and as you then couldn't reset the choke, you'd have to wait a while for the strip to cool down before you could potentially re-start the car. In Dad's case, he found he'd have to pump the accelerator before he could get his Fiesta to start.

Ford wasn't too bad until they introduced automatic chokes. Stupid bi-metallic strip with a mind of its own. My Dad had bought Mum a 1982 Mk1 Fiesta Ghia so she could travel to work, as for a long time we were a 1 car family. She had no end of trouble getting it to start that it put her off Fords for a long time, so much so she demanded my Dad's car and Dad ended up with the Fiesta. Mind you, although he had as much issue with it as my Mum, he did persevere with it, at one point cutting out the carb intake pipe to improve the air mixture and eventually fitting a Manual Choke kit to it which improved it no end! Other cars my Parents had in my lifetime were mostly fine as they were driving what Japan had to offer (Subaru Leone GLF and then later a Toyota Carina II) and they were much better at mechanical reliability than the competition, although these unfortunately used to rust badly like most of the competition. Prior to my lifetime it was the miserable BL and Ford dross though at one point Dad had a Simca 1300 which he really liked and was quite reliable. He lost that one unfortunately to beer barrels falling off the back of a lorry and completely smashing up the front end.

I think it's dependent on the browser used. For me, Waterfox downloaded the odd 9.8Kb stub whereas Chrome downloaded both MSI files fine.
