The room has 2 walls of windows with blinds. It gets quite dark when the turn the lights off and close the blinds. Short throw isn't really possible as I've had the mount installed in the centre of the room. It can be moved though. It's projecting onto a blank wall, ideally it will be as large as possible (as large as I can get it from the centre of the room is fine). The teacher was using an 8 year old spare projector from a desk at the other side of the room and it filled the entire wall, which was great.

Hi all. I have never needed to buy a projector before, so I'm a bit out of the loop. I have up to £600 to spend. It's for a drama room, primarily for showing movies. The best I can find is the Casio XJ-V110W from AV Partsmaster for £599. It's WXGA (1280x800) and I would have preferred WUXGA (1920x1200) as the device in that room can output at 1080p. I can't find anything decent at that resolution though. The advantage of the Casio is it's lamp-less and also 3500 lumens, which is decent. Has anyone get any other suggestions?

It's not complete crap, and it is something that should be considered in lots of things, not just musical instrument playing. Sometimes people are scared to discuss it for fear of being branded sexist. Again, like you, I know nothing about the science, but as women are on average smaller than men, does that mean they have smaller lungs? Could that affect their proficiency at playing wind instruments? I honestly don't know the answer. It's like the age old topic of women in the army. Yes, women can do the job (see Israel), but there's no denying there are physical differences between men and women, which is why there has to be different physical standards. Put simply, men make better fighters, mainly because they are faster and stronger. Beyond that, do women have any disadvantages? I'm not aware of any studies suggesting either gender is more intelligent. Same for dexterity.

I looked into this a couple of years ago, and we all liked the idea of saving money and having faster/more reliable broadband but in the end it just wasn't possible. We rely heavily on the council's 'intranet' for things like payrol, procurement, even SIMS. The Business Manager and Office Manager decided it was too much.

I don't know about main dealers, but in general smaller local garages will not budge much, if at all. There just isn't enough profit in used cars anymore. You're more likely to get things like the tax, a full tank of fuel, a year warranty (remember there are often different levels), mats etc.

We've got a consent form that parents must sign with a few categories on, some of which are relevant to data protection. It goes out as part of the admission pack. The relevant categories are: I give permission for my child to be photographed or filmed for use on the schools website (which may occasionally be included on school Facebook timeline). I consent to my child’s image and/or work to appear on the school VLE (online learning area, accessed by password issued from school) and include their first name. I consent to my child’s image being used by in school documentation (e.g. school prospectus) and by outside bodies/agencies working with pupils in school. I give permission for my child to be photographed or filmed by or for the media (press/television) and for my child’s name to be released for publication either as an individual or part of a group. and then a separate form for Tapestry: I give consent for my child to appear on individual photos visible to your child's designated parent account and staff. I give consent for my child to appear on group photos and observations that will be viewed by other parents of pupils in the class. I was reading how consent should be opt-in, which I believe it is, but also granular. I've come up with the following categories for a new permission form: Prospectus/other marketing materials such as promotional photos and videos for the school and charity Reports to governors (which will be uploaded to the website) Website Facebook VLE (visible to other parents but not the public) Media Photos in 'public' areas of the school, such as on the Reception display screen and corridor photos Photos in classrooms Tapestry - individual Tapestry - group Am I missing anything?

You'd struggle to fit two double-buggies side by side down an unobstructed path so I don't think you are doing anything wrong. Just don't be surprised if you come back to your car one day and there's a scratch down the side.

That seems very high, unless you use an extreme amount of water. I pay £30/month for 2 people. You've either got a leak, are paying for someone else's water or you account will be in credit by quite a bit due to an unrealistic DD amount.

I'm having an issue with iPads on a couple of Windows 10 computers that I can't figure out. For the last 4 years, staff have plugged the iPads into Windows 7 and Windows 10 PCs and accessed the photos via Windows Explorer. It just works. No iTunes needed. However, there are a couple of Windows 10 PCs that this just doesn't work on. When the iPads are plugged in, Windows attempts to locate a driver and fails. In Device Manager, iPad appears under Other Devices with a warning symbol. The device status is "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" In Device Manager, under USB Controllers, Apple Mobile Device USB driver is installed. I have installed iTunes just to see if that works (though that isn't a permanent solution) and it still doesn't appear in Windows Explorer. I attempted to manually locate the drivers for the iPad in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers but it says they are not compatible. Does anyone know how I can get this to work?

I know that Spotify installs to the user's appdata area rathern than program files, meaning staff can install it if applocker or a software restriction policy is not enabled.

Our LA DPO (through an SLA) is visiting us at the end of June to provide guidance. So far, we have done nothing towards becoming compliant other than taking away the visitor sign-in book and replace it with sign-in slips. Nobody can be bothered to make a start without the DPO (assigned to us last week and only works 3 days a week and I'm guessing has very little time to dedicate to DPO duties based on their official job title), so there has been no data audit and therefore no privacy notices or anything. The funny thing is nearly a year ago, when I found out about GDPR, I told the business manager and headteacher that it would require a lot of work to become compliant and that they should look into it as soon as possible. Instead they've just been waiting for the LA to get up to speed, which is never a good idea!

I'm struggling to get Notify to do what I want. It may not even be possible... At 10:18 every day I want an alert to be sent to the computers that teachers, HLTAs and TAs are logged onto. I have set up three departments, one for each AD group. In the Notify console, I compose the message then choose the schedule. My issue is that when I go to send, I can see the three departments but if between sending the scheduled message and the scheduled time the users log onto different PCs, they won't get the message. The message is only sent to those that have not changed PC since the message was composed (which will only be done once). Is there a way to make it send the message to the PCs that the users are logged onto at 10:18? Ideally, Notify would poll the departments at 10:18 to see where they are logged on, rather than only doing it once at message creation. I have contacted NetSupport support but it was hard to relay what I was meaning over the phone and I haven't heard back yet anyway. Thanks in advance.

A CCJ is registered to an individual, not an address. The only way a CCJ for someone else at your address could affect you is if you are financially linked (joint accounts, mortgage etc.) When applying for credit, your address is only a factor for identification purposes, it is not taken into account for eligibility checks or 'blacklisting'.

We had absolutely loads when we moved into our house in October. The previous occupants were/are in a lot of debt. About half of the letters stopped after the first return to sender. The ones that didn't, I opened up the letters and rang the phone number inside with their name and account number. This is legal, by the way. The law says it is only an offence to open someone else's mail if you are intending to act to the person's detriment or without reasonable excuse. Anyway, this stopped another quarter of the letters. We still get about a quarter, the worst offenders are Next and Littlewoods. I have rang them many times to inform them the person no longer lives here, but they said that they will always send letters to the last known address until they get a newer one. I will try to tell them (next time I can be bothered to ring them) that they have a legal responsibility to keep their records up to date, and by deliberately keeping the address on their database as one they know isn't accurate they are breaching the DPA.

No, they're not. I didn't realise they existed. I personally wouldn't mess about with lithium-ion batteries in a C size, they all seem to be unbranded Chinese ones. Get the Ultra Power ones, and maybe only take one photo every hour?
