  1. There was a giant RepRap on hackaday.com last night. Sorry, can't posta link as it's blocked from here.
  2. Id say it was a faulty screen. Seen lots of similar on the 6400 and 640m models.
  3. @ Los0jos I like Samsung F3 drives, i like them as they are quiet and quick. I've installed quite a few 1Tb drives as secondary drives for people and i've not had any complaints as yet.
  4. Over 100mph isn't an automatic ban, a rep friend of mine got clocked at 100 overtaking. Wrote a letter to the court admitting guilt and his stupidity and explaining he was overtaking some lorries. Explained he traveled 1000s of miles each year and had a clean license. He got points and a fine but no ban.
  5. Seems quite pricey especially as a full service would include a plug change anyway and wouldn't cost much more. As stated above get the old bits back, as an ex mechanic i know some of the dodges that went/go on. (not by me though)
  6. I've seen a price of $1000 or 715 euros mentioned. Not the cheapest of devices.
  7. As far as i am aware Clickview uses a type of DRM so only Clickview will play back the videos saved in it.

    Msi All in One

I've been building PCs for over 10 years, i've always stayed clear of MSI stuff.
  9. If the idea of art is to make you think, then yes it's art IMO. No less art than an unmade bed.
  10. I can vouch for HDD unlock i've used them in the past.
  11. RBendle, check the capacitors aren't bulging or leaking, the USB ports aren't damaged, you have a known working PSU and they are removed from the case when testing.
  12. Have you tried using the onboard graphics instead of the graphics card ? Has the graphics card been tested in another PC ?
  13. We use a dymo printer here, label each laptop on it's edge and also the lid. It helps ensure laptop 1 goes in bay 1 etc. Marking the laptop number on the bottom in pen, also helps to identify laptops quickly. Forget security stickers, the kids can peel those off.

    Newby

Hello there Janey from a fellow geek from Leicester.
  15. IT staff, only when permanent pen (where did it come from?!?!) has been used instead of a proper whiteboard pen.
  16. Have you tried a vertical mouse ? It's not a natural way for the wrists to lay when using a normal mouse, your wrist is twisted when using. A vertical mouse corrects this.
  17. I have a couple of the Iroda soldering irons, excellent bits of kit. The blowtorch is good for soldering battery terminals, the hot air for heat shrink. I use my Zippo to light it if it's windy.
  18. I haven't bought similar, but pointed someone in the direction of Lenovo when they asked a similar question recently.
  19. My daughter took me out for a meal and bough me a beer. She's only 12. Dads ate free at Franky and Bennys. Brilliant day.
  20. I think if the kids found out laptops had SSDs in then as there are only 2 screws holding them in quite a few would go missing....
  21. We used to have HP APs here, would work fine for ages then...nothing. Turns out they needed a firmware update to get working again. What wireless cards are in the laptops ? Maybe they need new drivers.

    PSU

    What case is it ?

    PSU

That's not a standard size. Might have been a PSU made for the particular case ?
  24. I paid just shy of a grand to get a 40Gb IDE hard drive recovered when a drive died on me. You could try to find an identical drive and swop the circuit board over. I'd recomend Ontrack for recovery, certainly not cheap, but i couldn't fault their service when i needed them.
  25. Hello to all the other Leicester techies. Michael
