HELP! What is causing these "connect to" popups??? (Smartcache issue)
Abaddon replied to kennysarmy's topic in Windows
Thanks for that link.. I've been irritated by that popping up for months! -
Thread resurrection! Don't want to start another and fill up the forums.. We basically ditched another, big, supplier after having "delivery issues", and moved a lot of business to Dan at WStore.. I don't have any of those problems with trying to beat the best price out of him, it just always is the best price he can do. On top of that, things arrive when they are supposed to. Can't really say any better than that can you? Recommended.

I'd be interested to see that info too.. I thought I was the only lazy WII owner!

Personally, I wouldn't. If you have only one host server, you have no fail-over.. if you're hosting important server roles and your host server has a hardware failure you've lost multiple functionality. I'd only consider it with at least two host servers with vMotion (or whatever the MS equivalent is now) and some form of shared storage. Just my view of course. Probably not worth it unless you are considering virtualising more of your infrastructure (if you have more infrastructure!)

Anybody tried this? They are R3610's. I'm having problems with getting the device converted. All the drivers are installed and working correctly, but after I install the PVS_Device client and reboot, it doesn't connect to the provisioning servers. Network card is booting correctly and getting an IP, and the machine boots from the HD as required for initial conversion. After that, just a disabled client (Windows is up and running with no issues however). Any ideas?

Not bad... but mines 10Mb faster already

Be careful with Exchange 2010.. Microsoft seems to recommend more than one server... Processor and Memory Recommendations for Exchange 2010 Exchange Geek's Weblog

Same boat - I think we just have to wait until they release the update to fix that little problem.

Websites down / seriously slow?

And down again.. both hands and backsides? -
Saw a similar one on an HP NX9020 recently. Worked ok here, but bluescreen at staff members home. We turned off the built-in wireless, and supplied a USB Wifi dongle. This worked just fine, with exactly the same network setup. The drivers were all up to date, so we can only assume there was a basic incompatibility with the router there. Very weird!

I'd ask where the rest of my budget had vanished to! But then, I'd look at switches, an iSCSI SAN, and virtualising the servers across some load balanced hosts. Maybe look at a DR room in a different building.

Same us us then... maybe the same one. Wonder if they even bothered to do any capacity testing / planning on these? It's not really beyond the realms of possibility to imagine this kind of load - swine flu, the snow LAST year that closed schools etc etc... Shocking performance really.. and STILL not sorted. That's really bad! -

It's been reported as a "Major Incident" on the Synetrix console pages... but no updates whatsoever for 9 hours. Our website is completely offline again as well. Excellent timing, as we are closed tomorrow as well, and we have directed everyone to the website for info on the snow closures! -
Typical isn't it? Schools closed (snow), and the websites either fried, or down because of a bit of extra traffic. I thought these were supposed to be hosted on dark fibre connections for max bandwidth and resilience? Not impressed today!

I'll be heading in shortly, so there before 6am. I'm sure everything is fine - no calls for help from any servers, and I fixed the CCTV yesterday morning, remotely. Looking forward to a quiet day, watching my techs run around resetting password for the staff who forgot them over the long break.

I thought they went bankrupt and closed down a few months ago?

Sorry - they are all beige/white... You could always take the fronts off and spray them? -
Doesn't the Blackberry browser use a dedicated BlackBerry proxy? In which case, the tethered PC will be using a different route through.. which is how they can tell. At least that's what I was told?

Thanks to all and sundry for an informative and entertaining year. Have a good one chaps and chappess's... (yep - I'm sure that's a word!)
