  1. I'll second that - we've had nothing but problems with refilled toners. Leaky cartridges, shadowing and smudges, and the colour ones don't print good colours. Went back to originals cartridges, and no more problems.
  2. 16...
  3. "Abaddon - The Angel of the Abyss" (from Hebrew mythology) Because I used to work in a dark hole, and am unceasingly evil to all my users (apparantly)!
  4. The only one I can see that might help you are here: Vaio : Support : Preinstalled Drivers and Utilities Try the Intel chipset drivers.. What exactly is the problem you are having?
  5. IWB's are run from the teacher's desk, usually from their laptops now, but we don also have a PC there just in case. Since the IWB software is loaded locally, it still seems to cover all the bits they need for that. Multimedia bits are generally just done from staff laptops.. there is little on the network here - a lot of it is from websites now, which seems to be ok, as we allow Internet explorer locally obviously, otherwise getting to the internal portals would be tricky! We don't deploy a full Citrix desktop in a lot of cases, but just the web front end. On the full desktop deploys, those bits still work ok.
  6. We have a 24 server Citrix farm here, and the main reason for that was the ability to let staff and students access school software and resources from home. It also means we don't have to deploy much software, if any, to the desktops here. It's all done via the web interface, so the experience at home is virtually identical to what they see in school. Expensive? I suppose.. but there IS an educational discount...
  7. Another vote for Illients Sysaid.. has all the options, and is easy enough to use. I bought the full version a month or so ago.
  8. I'm guessing you just unplugged it then, rather than removing it from the domain initially, which would have needed you to add it to a workgroup to do that... ?
  9. Hasn't this been amended now to mean exactly that? Two processors, regardless of number of cores?
  10. Good question.. I've been using Securus for a number of years now, and had no problems until recently.. which, in fairness, they are coming in to work at until resolved. I'm a long way down the line to swapping to Policy Central though at this point. I've been trialling that, and it's had no issues yet. I don't want to compare the two here at the moment, as I think the issues with Securus would level the field if fixed properly, but I'd be interested in other opinions.
  11. Fixed now.. It seems that the checkbox marked "Allow Windows Update" on the BLOXX command centre, doesn't actually do that. Had to add specific settings to the default group to allow that... Only took an hour or so with Bloxx tech support...
  12. I think you're overcomplicating this a lot.. As cookie says, just add the new server, promote it to a DC and wait for replication. All the group policies will be replicated as part of AD. Seize or transfer the FSMO roles to the new DC, and once all that has completed, demote the old DC and rebuild it at your lesiure, re-adding it when you've done. Is there some reason you think you need to knock down the entire domain, and start from scratch?
  13. Is anybody else having problems updating this week? Can't access the update site at all at the moment from our netowrk PC's... Might be a coincidence, but we had a BLOXX installed on Monday. There are pretty much zero restrictions on the accounts we are using here in the office, so I wouldn't have thought it was that? Error code is 80244018, which seems to indicate an https problem? Anybody else having problems, or is it just me?
  14. Rather than dual-booting, how about using a Virtual Machine? At least you can use the same VM for each one, saving a little installation time at least?
  15. I should think it's fairly safe to say that it could reasonably be expected to have a keyboard last more than six months... which is all you need to prove for it to be replaced by the retailer....
  16. I'm looking for a server rack, for full size servers (couple of 1u's), a UPS, a NetApp FAS2020 (2u I think) and a switch - so no more than 16u tops. Headroom is a little limited where it will spend most of it's life, so I can't do full height - half height is maxmum I guess, also it needs to be mobile, so decent castors on it. Anybody know where I should be looking?
  17. Uh.. sort of.. VMWare player - but it'll only do that (play pre-created images).. I suspect thats not what you're after? - apparantly, VMWare Server v2.0 HAS been successfully installed on an XP machine, but it's not supported in that configuration....
  18. Don't touch with a bargepole. It's a well known scam using a hacked account. E-bay wouldn't have a clue if it was hacked until someone reported it, so they can't say it's legitimate or not.
  19. I have an O2 XDA Exec.. just upgraded (?) to an N95 8Gb, but still going to use the XDA for work I think... My excuse? N95 was free, so seemed rude not to..
  20. 1. What is your current salary range? 37k 2. How many people do you have in your department? 3 3. How many PC's/Servers do you support? 280 PC's, 150 laptops, 40 servers (large Citrix farm) 4. What other systems do you support (eg IP camera's, VLE, Sims, telephone system, etc)? CCTV (IP), SIMS, Sharepoint, Exchange, VoIP Telephone exchange 5. Do you support any other organisations (eg primary schools, private businesses, etc) IT wise as part of your working week? god no Thanks to all that answer You're welcome
  21. I heartily recommend REACT Technologies who deal with this sort of thing all day long - we have many AP's here at Hampton covering the entire site, all running off two switches... All installed by React. No problems to report, and we regularly have large amounts of users online at the same time. React Technologies - wireless networking, wireless lan switching, firewall, voip, vpn.
  22. Downloaded, installed and running ok.. at least it seems to. Will report back if I find any problems!
  23. Less than 24 hours for me.. :-)
  24. I'll admit first off that I'm a bit of a dunce when it comes to IIS.. is there a quick guide to getting this running from a freshly installed server, to include IIS configuration? I've been trying for a couple of days now, and just get pages of "not found" errors.. I know I'm missing something obvious!
  25. At least for Securus, there is only a Windows client... As far as I know, eSafe uses the Policy Central engine, and that also only has a Windows client.. As long as your clients are windows based, then Securus at least won't care about your NOS.
