  1. ISIS dreams come true.
  2. User polices > Admin templates > Windows components > Windows media player > networking Then just give it a dead proxy. Should stop it from accessing internet.
  3. I think you can configure proxy settings in media player. Can't you set a dead proxy? (127.0.0.1)
  4. Ahh good to know. I know the towers are good but the laptops i wasn't sure about after the issues you've had. Glad to clear that up. Hope all is running well now for you!
  5. @witch looked like she had an absolute mare with a set of them. Kinda put me off. silly i know as it can just be a fluke but i can't help it.
  6. I was with BT, who give download speeds of around 700-kbps-1mbps (ADSL obv..) and i switched to talktalk who manged to get me 2mbps download rate...using BT lines. How's that work? Never had any downtime so never used talktalk customer service which i heard is horrendous. All other ISP's can't beat this line speed so no point in moving. Also, a little tip, they offer you a line speed, but your the speed you see is different as they offer you it in bits. So i divide the line speed by 8 and it gives me the acutal rate i download at. Example, my BT open reach line is rated at 16mbps, divided by 8 gives me 2, my actual download rate. Ofcom should ban them from giving "download" speed in bits.
  7. Yeah it'll be my first comp fight. I'm thinking inter-club kickboxing or MMA without ground and pound. Full contact i am fine with. I'll decide next year if i'm ready and then start the process of finding my comfortable fighting weight.
  8. Need some tips on my idea for ipad pictures shared resource in my primary school: *set up class ipad with o365/onedrive account *on the file server, install the one drive app and login to said account * map the folder to all staff Doing this, i should be able to sync the photos from the (shared) iPads to the folder on the server that is mapped to staff?
  9. I'm thinking of fighting next year, wonder how that'll go down with the schools? Maybe fight over summer where they can't see the bruises and cuts?
  10. That's what i mean. They'll embrace anything the company pushes out.
  11. I agree with you, but apple pay will take off.
  12. I think a lot of the inventions BTTF got right were because they were cool then and are cool now, build it and they will come sort of thing. BTTF and many others missed the big ones, like email (all the houses had fax machines!) smart phones and tablets. As said before, Bio metrics would be used for payments but it's all down to privacy. Instead we all use our smart phones or contact-less card which NFC phones will replace.
  13. It's an odd one. So we can say that the .local isn't the issue. I'll try just restarting them but i'm pretty sure that hasn't sorted that before now, but i'll give it a go next time. It'd an odd one, even my phone does it on the wifi.
  14. Do you still have this issue? I'm having issues with ipads, we can browse the app store, buy an app, then it just sits there attempting to download but never progresses. But if i then go into the settings and reset network settings when i rejoin the wifi it begins to download the app. I wonder if this is an issue with apple equipment on .local domain? Anyone any ideas? I've added all the apple urls for store etc to the filters url list.
  15. I lift to supplement the fighting. Give it a go and you might start doing the same. In b'town i hear "dave hakuda gym" is good for MMA/muay thai classes. Think they do women only classes as well if you'd rather that. I've never been though just seen it on facebook
  16. I don't live in b'town (awww chav phrase) i live in a town a few miles out so i go to one nearer to me.
  17. Yeah i've been stretching, the injury happened on monday night, and last night i had a really long very hot bath and had some ibuprofen and it feels a lot better today. I'm thinking it'll be back to normal by monday!
  18. Done my lower back in doing MMA! Argh! Basically, we were practicing transitions from side control into an arm bar. And he got his leg placement wrong and slammed my body weight down on my back across his leg on the floor. My back hyperextended and now my lower back is sore and stiff as a brick! : ( :@
  19. Water on Mars. What's next, a crack in Uranus?
  20. Right, so anything that uses multicast dns can have conflicts with .local domains? I did not know this, thanks. A school i am at uses .local and has apple TV on the network (around 6 apple TV and 15 iPads) and haven't had any issues but it's good to know if any issues start cropping up.
  21. I'm just a skint as i was when i was earning £80 a week. Seems that no matter what i earn i always end up with the calculator app open scratching my head at the end of the month. Kids or no kids.
  22. why is this an issue? I'm not questioning anything, i'm curious as to why.
  23. Morning all. I work for someone who has multiple primary schools under his belt and we offer tech/network support to these schools. Now, i would like to try and get my own schools if possible and potentially start my own business doing so. But first, what you would you say is the best way to approach a school and enquire if they are happy with their current IT support? Email, not sure how to word it. Or go in person? I know how busy school offices so the latter might not be the best option. What do you guys think? Thanks.
  24. Funny you say this, my home windows 10 PC seems to start itself up after shut down. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and the thing is on, and I can hear the HDD going along. It's a non domain PC and I think it might be windows updates triggering it. Can't really be bothered to sort it after a long day of sorting other peoples computers.. : \
  25. Right, here we go. At one of the primaries i attend to, the head had a "broadcast" system fitted by a company (nothing to do with me). Essentially speakers wired all over the building all running back to an amp at the broadcast desk. Fine. The sound is completely independent of the network and works fine. Now, they also have an IP camera (D-LINK DCS 3010). At the moment all the teachers PC's have a shortcut that points to the IP of the camera, they all enter a generic user name and view the feed. Now, here's the tricky part, sometimes, some staff get a page cannot be displayed error. when i try to connect when i'm on site it seems fine, i can only assume that it must struggle with the 6 connections at once. Anyone any ideas what i could do? I thought about using VLC to RTSP the video feed, but it always fails to connect. Possible that the port it uses is blocked? The router is managed by county so i can't touch it to find out. Anyone any tips for this kind of thing? Thanks guys. Apologies if this belongs in networking section. [h=1][/h]
