SATS results today, I wonder if the service fell down when schools started inputting exam results all at once? I'm guessing I've no idea about the process.

We are converting all existing PUB files to Word docs, and starting to steer schools down the Canva route. I was very surprised by how many of my schools use publisher. Some use it to create curriculum resources they heavily rely on, one school has hundreds of them! It's annoyed a lot of them but we are preparing them as much as possible, rolling out 2024 LTSC and converting the PUB files.

Yeah there's no real reporting or monitoring of the basic service. You just have to trust that it catches something and takes the appropriate action. The lack of monitoring concerns me, it makes it hard to evaluate if it's actually doing its job.

I'm just starting the project/planning to remove Sophos for all my LCC schools. It seems a backward step even though EDS are adament the protection is just as good under Defender. Time will tell but I'll be exploring other options, in the meantime I'll be falling back to Defender until I can source an alternative.

It's such a strange bug that causes a whole string of issues. I might do that scheduled task myself. Good idea!

This, I have issues with VM DC's that often do this after a power outage, network outage or a reboot. It can cause all kinds of issues, you can simply disable and then enable the network adapter to force it back to the correct profile. Or physically unplug the network cable. Longer solution is to set the awareness service to delayed start I think? I can't remember off the top of my head.

We got an "egg" pram used on Facebook market place and car seat that spins, once they start piling weight on you'll be thankful for the spinning seat!

Is anyone else getting heavily targeted by e-mails sent to multiple accounts in the tenancy (seemingly admin accounts) that state something like "Domain renewal notice" or "remittance advice" that annoyingly create a calendar event and tag people in it? A few of my schools are getting this now and it's very annoying to see it constantly in the calendar and having to remove it.

Honestly I don't. I just deploy the 365 apps, users have A3 so that covers the license.

We roll it out using the ODT and input the MAK in the XML. Works a treat.

Ah brilliant. This might actually be a solution! I'll look into this. I could just deploy a basic script to the desktop to map the printer. Not exactly automated but it's not too much of reach to get the staff to do it.

Hi! They are Konica Minolta. I've seen lots of guides about deploying drivers, which looks a bit tricky! But the configuring of the driver once installed seems a bit of challenge!

Hi all, Just asking for advice really, a school I support have gone down the InTune route for staff laptops (small primary, only around 12 laptops for staff). They will over time transition to the cloud fully for the student devices and retire the server but they aren't there yet. It's gone fine so far, however I'm pondering the best way for printing. They don't have PaperCut or the likes, and have authentication print from the print driver, simple 4 digit code and the popup authentication is configured in the default driver on the print server. They are not fully cloud or even hybrid in the true sense and still have an onsite DC. Has anyone installed local network printers on InTune devices before? Ideally I like to add the printer from the print server so it pulls down the default settings it needs for the authentication. If I script install the printer locally on each device I'd need to be able to script the printing defaults as well, otherwise it won't work. Any ideas or am I stuck with doing it manually?

Yeah I could do, I roam around different schools and I'm starting to think switching back to Windows might help me slightly, but not sure if there's any point if I'll still hit the same issues with Windows ARM. Certainly interesting though.

I'm quietly interested in these. I'm currently running around with an M1 MacBook Air. I love the build quality, battery life etc but MacOS is holding be back in places. Such as when I'm working in InTune and want to create a package I'll need to find a windows laptop, which is a bit annoying. I spend most of my time either emailing, 365 admin centre or logging into servers so one of these might be a better fit for me. How well does Windows ARM handle EXE's?

Yep we've had this. Had issues like this since we moved to Netsweeper cloud, just one of those things I suppose.

I'm on the same thought pattern as you really. I don't need bombarding with info, just need to know any machines that have fallen behind or have been infected or need attention. As long as I've got that, and defender actually does its job as well as Sophos, I'll be happy.

Watching this thread with interest as I've had the same notice. I've never used Defender in a large/education environment and Sophos has always done a great job on the 13 primary schools I manage.

Hi everyone, Before I start investigating this further, I just thought I'd see if anyone else has come across this found the cause. Basically, one of my schools complained about very slow wifi performance (the network is slow, that old chestnut!). After taking a look I've realised that the issue is actually chrome seemingly hanging on first start up. The browser launches but the startup page (google.co.uk in this instance) takes a good 30 seconds to load. No other tabs will load during this time, such as Office. They all just hang on a white page with the loading wheel spinning on the tab. After say 20-30 seconds the tabs would all load and then perform as expected. I thought this could be DNS but my laptop (non domain joined, DHCP) has no issues. Just wondered if anyone else has had the same issue? If not I'll do some research and report back here incase someone else has the same problem in future.

Have Inventry moved their call centre abroad? Feels like it's been moved abroad and people reading from scripts that don't actually know the product or school environments.
