  1. You can use group policy to suppress the first run windows for office and media player etc. Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows media player\ Policy: Do Not Show First Use Dialog Boxes For office it might depend on the version you are using.
  2. We don't have any use for that really at Primary school level, so i just strip it out. Yeah I have found Photos to be a little slow on older machines, i found the classic photo viewer to be much much faster at loading, but obviously a lot more limited.
  3. We are not really rejecting change. We are happy to use UWP apps that are suitable in education, such as Photos and calculator, but not candy crush and Xbox. So i think stripping out the junk is the best option still.
  4. whattttt!!! I really like The Expanse! Maybe Netflix will take it up?
  5. Seems I was very lucky! Migrated one school and it went very smoothly. Got a few more to do so no doubt they will go belly up!

Playing GTA SA on PC, as it's the only one on PC that i haven't played;. Bit tricky getting it to work on Windows 10. It surprised me how buggy it is on Windows 10.
  7. Are you using mandatory profiles?
  8. Afternoon all, Has anyone set up remote access or direct access on the BTLS/CLEO network? We want to set up so staff can access our server/resources at home, whats the best way to go about this, and what do i need to do with BTLS? Thanks!
  9. Does anyone know if it's possible with local profiles and UE-V to set desktop settings by default? Such as icon size and layout?
  10. It's program data/microsoft/windows/start menu or something along those lines. I'm not at my workstation right now. Check the shortcuts are present and call them in the XML file.
  11. Have you got the tiles shortcuts in the local start menu folder on both machines?
  12. Still in testing so far. But i've had no issues with Guests group. Seems to work well!
  13. Think anyone will want a box running a Cyrix CPU? I'm sure i've still got that machine somewhere...
  14. I found my first real video card the other week. Geforce 4 MX 420. Not that old to a lot of you, but I was probably about twelve when I bought it and mowed the grass many, many times to get the money to buy it!
  15. Yeah i really enjoyed it! I'm not usually a Sci-fi kinda guy, but i really like this one.
  16. I have Windows 10 1709 with Server 2016 and my pupil (local) accounts are members of guests and have no issues with mapped drives or network shares that I've noticed yet. I did have an issue where new local accounts at logon were not creating the my docs folder server side, any idea what this could be? Recreating the account seems to fix it. Seems to be a bit random as it doesn't always happen.
  17. The Expanse has started again! Woo!
  18. Sorry to bump, but is there a hotfix/patch out yet for 1709 yet? This bug is super annoying!
  19. I created the shortcuts wrong! If i create them by using explorer's "New shortcut" feature it hides away the network path.
  20. Hi everyone, I have a shortcut to a folder placed on the start menu or desktop and when it's opened i can see the breadcrumb path the server. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? I've attached a screenshot bellow of the issue. Thanks! Patrick
  21. I once did something similar with Ubuntu, if you just want to hide the cursor all the time? Not my fix but i used this: Open /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/50-xserver-command.conf and edit this line: xserver-command=X -core Append -nocursor to it. Like this: xserver-command=X -core -nocursor Save and restart.
  22. As a side note and this may save you some time, I was using UE-V for chrome but found it a touch slow and not 100% reliable. So i used chrome group ADMX templates to redirect chrome settings/data to the users documents folder. The GPO's are: Set the roaming profile directory = ${documents}\Chrome Enable the creation of roaming copies of Google Chrome profile data = Enabled Bet you could redirect this to the UE-V folder if you don't want users to see it.

I have an injury so i can't train for a couple of weeks, which has led me to rediscover CS:Source all over again! Forgot how much fun it is, even the ridiculous death match servers and gun game matches! I'm surprised how busy servers are for a 14 year old game! My machine isn't up to playing the latest and greatest title, but CS:S seems to have aged quite well in terms of visuals.
  24. I thought windows does this by design? Instead of having memory empty, it can footprint the memory for quick access and storage for data/files. If this is your home machine, can you run a resource hungry program like a modern game that uses a lot of memory and see what happens? If it completely fills the memory then there is probably a leak, or windows will begin to give back the memory to the application that needs it. Although the 3 day thing sounds very odd.
  25. You'd really benefit from finding a sport/exercise you enjoy and get into. If you hate running on a treadmill in the gym, don't make that your main source of exercise as you'd likely just give up after a while as you don't enjoy it! Try out different sports and activities too see what takes your fancy. Try weightlifting/Olympic lifting, swimming or try martial arts/boxing, 5 a side footall etc. When you really enjoy a sport the weight just falls off when matched with a balanced diet, and a not a restrictive diet. I don't mean to state the obvious, but sometimes people get caught up with thinking exercise is just treadmill or rowing machine etc, but it doesn't have to be if it's not for you. Diet can be simple when mixed with a good exercise life style, lower your sugar intake, increase vegetable intake and generally stay away from processed foods, unless it's a treat once or twice a week.
