They are seriously taking the P***. i think we should all turn the servers off and just walk out for a couple of days!!! ha ha!!
-
Same here!!!! i phoned up forensic who said they are not experiencing any other people with the issues. Im in 2 minds now on if i should just remove PCE completely from the network! we Use Expo here and all that does it hang. Also OWA is affected.

Thanks guys. To be fair, the backup server had about 500gb of space so i might just do D2D then offload that to tape.
-
Sorry i meant for RTFMs post.

Basically its for backing up 3 servers in ESXi. all the servers data probably totals about 400gb! Not really sure what the best route would be.
-
So thats 11gb an hour? mmm not that fast then really! thats means it would take well over a day to backup 300gb!

Hi Does anyone know what the backup speed would be for backups in backup exec over a gigabit link? Im currently looking into using a dedicated backup server with tape drive to backup a couple of servers. This backup server would be connected to the network via gigabit ethernet and using remote agents on the other 2 servers for the backup. If its really slow, what would be the best solution? Thanks

How's everyone getting on with the update? ours is on 3.0.0.9 and I had the ICT teacher come to me today and say that expo electro was hanging for about half the class. When they log out of expo and back in again its fine. This is the same symptoms of what was happening before with IE although this time doesn't appear to be crashing it just doesn't display alot of the page. Also a report of some of the stations just log out randomly but not sure if this can again be put down to Policy Central!!

I know what you mean!!!! me and my wife are are on fairly decent salaries but would seriously struggle to pay a mortgage on £150,000 house. (average price of houses here) We had to sell our one bed house last year as we had a child but sold it at a £7000 loss! Now you need a 10% minimum to get a mortgage as well. We have no option but to rent at the moment until we have saved enough for 10% by which time house prices would of doubled by next year!!!!!!!!!

Teaching programming in schools
techie08 replied to polarlemniscate's topic in Network and Classroom Management
The ICT teacher brought up this subject and said he will be teaching GCSE computing and programming in September, probably with Visual Basic. Would it be wise not to let this run on the network? possibly standalone machines? Virtual machines? Im not really that clued up with visual basic and not sure what damage it would do with the wrong student Thanks- 24 replies

Thanks Bio. Would i keep the domain controllers names the same? or doesn't it matter No i dont run Ranger or anything like that.
-
Im sure sure if this has been covered yet but i am looking at migrating from 2003 to 2008 R2 for our 2 domain controllers and move to 2 completly new Rackmount servers. This is really to cater for the possibility of mover to windows 7 in the future. What would be the process involved in doing this as i have not done this before. Thanks

Ours too!!!! and we have 50 imacs with xserver

They got me to test a patch at the begining of last week and so far so good. All it does is replace a PCE .dll Im testing it on around 10 computers and see what happens. I asked them that what happens if internet explorer does updates again and we could have the same situation again? And they said quite possibly. Doesnt really fill me with confidence!!!!!
-
The update was originally supposed to be a month ago then it keeps changing and changing and changing!! I really do love the software and they said they are releasing a mac client soon but im in two minds on if im going to get my money back.

bring 3 different domains to use the same ip range
techie08 replied to techie08's topic in Wireless Networks
why should i use stub zones and not secondary zones? Im not sure what the difference is. Also do you mean root hints? if so would i creat one for each dns pointing to my DNS server? -
bring 3 different domains to use the same ip range
techie08 replied to techie08's topic in Wireless Networks
So you mean keep the DNS and DHCP on all three domains? How would you configure the clients as i thought DHCP works on a first come first serve basis. Also would i end up having on each server the main DNS for that domain plus the stub zone? so for example my main DNS plus 2 stubs, one for each of the other 2 schools? Thanks -
bring 3 different domains to use the same ip range
techie08 replied to techie08's topic in Wireless Networks
Thats what we have found. We can obviously use dhcp ok but DNS is proving to be a major headache. -
bring 3 different domains to use the same ip range
techie08 replied to techie08's topic in Wireless Networks
They are now all linked by fiber to our HP Procurve switches, so if i change my network adapter to an ip address of the relevent network, i can see the respective network. -
Hi We have the challenge of bringing 3 different domains that are on different IP/Subnets under one ip/subnet range. Is this possible? and how would i go about doing this? Also, could i use the same DHCP and DNS server for all the 3 domains? Thanks
